“A nice stay”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We spent 2 nights in this hotel after 5 nights at a golf resort outside of Bangkok. As others are stating, the service is excellent! The room was well equipped and very comfortable. The atmosphere is very relaxing as it sits back from the very busy street in the financial district.

Traffic in the neighborhood is pretty bad. Make sure to allow at least 20 to 30 extra minutes if you have reservations outside the hotel or if headed to the airport allow at least an hour if you leave in the rush hours.

A very nice place the sleep, swim in the large lap style pool and relax at the many tables and loungers around the pool. The concierge is extremely helpful arranging tours, excursions and taxi services and the entire staff is very gracious and accommodating with request.

The location is convenient to China Town, and only about 30 minutes from The Palace, Leaning Buddha and many other areas that may be of interest.

The Sukhothai is a great hotel. . . I simply don’t like to pay 10 times more than something is worth.

So, some friendly advice. . . Have the taxi stop at a store and buy your cold drinks and snacks for the room. With a single minibar Coke costing US$11.97 and a Coke in the restaurant being $7.05 it’s beyond being overpriced. A bottle of water was $5.98 while two personal pizzas and two beers at the Italian restaurant were $93.00.

We booked the entire trip on Expedia with breakfast included. They refused to honor the breakfast and charged us $30.00 each for a breakfast buffet. They did remove one of the two from the bill at check-out after getting the right person to read the reservations.

Overpriced? Well, it’s your money.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back around the courtyard are quietest.

A remarkable discovery. This lovely hotel with gorgeous rooms, large comfortable beds, beautiful bathrooms, light and heavier bathrobes, all the toiletries you could need, mirrors, marble, fresh fruit, truffles in the room, comfort and quiet in a very busy city. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Garden Suite. Lovely.

Driving up the private driveway to the Sukhothai you quickly forget that you're in Bangkok. The standard room was larger and better than premium rooms in most other luxury hotels I've been to, and the suites are unbelievable. The hotel is very clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The breakfasts are fantastic with quality food and great presentation. If you're like me then you can't function without good coffee in the morning. Not a problem here.

The staff are attentive without being intrusive. The pool is fantastic. Just be mindful of the office building next door. Sometimes there are guys creepily looking down at the pool.

The hotel is a bit old, but very well maintained. I stayed there for 4 days and didn't want to leave.

This is the best hotel I ever stayed in bkk so far. When you walk around in the hotel area, you may not realize that you are in bkk but phuket, huahin...etc. They create a laid back atmosphere which is fantastic.
They provide excellent service, polite staff, good maintenance though aged, plenty of leisure spaces, great amenities in room. The house keeping staff did a great job which impressed me. They took care of my room with heart. I never have to call them since they prepare everything i need.
We stayed at 329 which facing the swimming pool, nice view and lots of sunshine brighten the entire room.
Traffic Jam is much more serious than last year, if they can arrange shuttle bus between Sala Daeng or Lumphini, I'm sure there is no reason for choosing another hotel.

Room Tip: The block with swimming pool is perfect.

I have stayed at The Sukhothai Hotel numerous times as well as other hotels in Bangkok. The Sukhothai remains one of my favorite hotels- anywhere. It is a quiet, spacious refuge from the teaming city of Bangkok. The moment I turn into its driveway I feel more relaxed. The interior is soothing and elegant with lovely silk and wood paneling. It's lobby has avoided becoming a shopping mall or night club scene as is the case with so many other upscale properties. The focus here is to have guests relax and recover.

Our room was a large suite with a living room and separate bedroom. There was an enormous bathroom- well laid out to allow for two people to bathe and dress without crowding each other.
The exotic fruits and sinfully good chocolates left on the table were a very nice welcome.

The Colonade offers a vast selection of western and asian items for breakfast. The pool is wonderful and a great place to cool down in this tropical city. A pool staff quickly brings towels, water, and cool face towels as soon as you sit down. This is still my favorite place to stay in Bangkok.

I cannot praise the hotel highly enough.

Service is superb, rooms (we had a "standard" room, which was much better than many other hotels' premium rooms) are excellent and beautifully equipped, and other facilities (bar, pool, restaurant and spa) are first class and reflect the hotel's rating and reputation.

I cannot think of any serious quibbles - if I were being exceptionally picky, the carpet from the lobby through to other parts of the hotel is a little worn, but that really is splitting hairs!

Would recommend wholeheartedly and certainly return on a future visit.
