“Best of the best in Bangkok”

I come to Peninsula many times in the past. Service is always among the best I have ever visited. They have a record of everything you have asked for. So, when you return the hotel, everything will be ready for you without asking.

The hotel is on a riverbank. You can enjoy a river view from any of its room. Room size is big and everything inside is the best. Although the place does show a bit of aging recently, it is still way above the average.

The hotel has a very nice pool. It is divided in three levels making it looks like a water cascade. One can enjoy the whole afternoon laying beside the pool reading, surfing on computer, or just doing nothing and enjoy one's self. The gym is big and well equipped. The restaurants there are among these best in Bangkok. You can enjoy piano playing in the whisky bar. By the way, the breakfast is buffer style and you can find anything you can image offering here.

To me, Peninsula is one of the reason for visiting Bangkok. Just to be pampered.

My last day in Bangkok, we took the BTS to Saphin Taksin and the free shuttle boat to the Peninsula Hotel for a totally elegant breakfast in their lobby cafe. Good food, excellent service, totally elegant environment and a great splurge for our last day.

I've stayed there when traveling alone but I was leading a group and our lodgings were a bit (a lot) less sumptuous.

Want to feel rich? Splurge on a breakfast at the Peninsula where $50 will just about cover the breakfast for two.

After doing tons of research, it was pretty clear that the Peninsula and the Mandarin were considered the top two hotels in Bangkok. I'm sure they each have pros and cons and I can't speak for the Mandarin as I have not stayed there. We chose the Peninsula because the rooms were larger and we wanted a balcony room (it was also less expensive for a better room). I was slightly concerned that it was on the other side of the river, but this was not a problem at all as they have boats that shuttle back and forth and we never had to wait. It was actually nice to be on the other side because we had the view of the skyline from our balcony. The room was spacious and nice.... a little outdated, but not a big deal. We were there in January and it was nice to have the balcony to step out and take in the river view. Our first meal in Thailand was at Tripthara as we got in late in the evening. We had to wait about ten minutes to sit down and the hostess was very apologetic. The service was good and we enjoyed our meal there (the papaya salad is super spicy even for a spicy food lover, so watch out). We spent one afternoon by the pool, which was very enjoyable and the service there was great. Our only complaint was the service at the high tea... it was included via amex with our reservation and I'm sure that was the case for a lot of people because it was very busy and we had to wait an inappropriately long time to get anything. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, but could use some minor updates. The phones and bedside master remotes look like they're from the 80s. The location is great, right on the river, and a boat runs very frequently transporting you across the river. The pool is amazing, and the restaurant right on the water has a great view and good food.

The Bangkok Peninsula Hotel represents the very best in luxury & customer service. FRom the moment we were greeted at the airport by our driver and escorted to our car - we knew we were about to experience something special.
Just imagine sitting in the back of chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce and being asked if the temperature is OK - now to mere-mortals like it that level of courtesy and service really does make you feel like a film star.
The same level of service continued when we arrived at the hotel - no such thing as hanging around a reception area to check-in - we were escorted straight to our room by a duty manager who completed the paperwork in the room with us as we were able to kick off our shoes after a long flight.
The views over the city skyline were fantastic, rooms cleaned to perfection and the fact that you could lie in the bath and catch up with some TV was pretty cool.
Food was top class and any question asked of any of the staff members was never too much trouble for them.
Our only regret is that we were only staying there for 2 nights before moving on to Phuket - but it is definitely on our hit-list for a return visit at some stage.

This hotel offers the most amazing service, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We hired the hotel car and the driver waited as he didn't like the look of the area we were in. ( no extra charge)
The rooms are divine with superb views over the river and breakfasts are to die for. There is a dear little boat that takes you free of charge to the other side of the river. The swimming pool is one of the best in Asia, long, quiet, warm and well kept - you don't see many children there(a blessing if you haven't got yours!)
Highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Need to face the river but I suspect all the rooms do. We received an upgrade from our entry level r...

This is our third trip to to the Peninsula Bangkok this year. We traveled with our 1-year old daughter. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable with our daughter.
Their babysitting service is top rate and the women are all very sweet and responsible...I felt very confident with them.
Even though the hotel was at full capacity (we were there over Chinese New Year), the hotel staff never skipped a beat and were as attentive as always.

Between the amazing breakfast buffet and the relaxing pool - - there really is no reason to leave the hotel.
