“Comfortable family stay”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

Our family (2 adults, 3 year old, 6 month old) stayed for four nights from 20 - 24 March 2014. Despite arriving at 7am, we were greeted very warmly by reception staff and shown to our room within 30 minutes - a major plus after a long overnight flight with kids! The room was large (2 double beds and a cot for the baby), clean and well appointed. The pool area was huge, with a shallow end making for safe toddler swimming through to a deep end (2.5 metres). There's a separate paddling pool (0.3 metres) and for the most part we were the only people using it. The gym, although reasonably well-appointed, would benefit from an update. Breakfast was included with our room and was a good offering. For us, there was nothing of note in the hotel's immediate vicinity, so it helped that it was a short walk (2 minutes) to the MRT Huai Kwang station - and from there was only 4 stops to Asok/Sukhumvit BTS sky train in one direction and another 4 in the other direction to Chatuchak weekend market. You do need to travel to the main shopping areas, however our three-day travel pass for the MRT only cost 230 baht per adult and taxis to Sukhumvit only around 100 bhat (using a meter taxi). There is also a small convenience store within the hotel that sells western snacks and the cafe in the hotel lobby does a decent coffee. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

Chosen because of 5 minute walk to BIDC. Greeted with smiles and a free drink. Staff very helpful in every way. Stayed for a week then decided to move close to noisy Center of town. BIG mistake. Returned to Swissotel to be pampered again. Walk 2 minutes to Underground train to visit markets, sites etc. Spacious quality rooms, excellent service, delicious buffets. When they heard I was unwell, Management brought a gift of a lovely bouquet of flowers to my room followed by a tray with delicious French Onion Soup and fresh bread rolls. Felt better instantly. Gracious hospitality at a reasonable price. Paid much more for a lot less in Australia.

My wife, her grandson and I stayed at this hotel from 6 to 16 March 2014 and took the time to explore most of the facilities the hotel has to offer. First and foremost was our very first impressions on arrival at 2:00am in the morning. The on duty staff (which includes the night manager), were effervescent, well mannered and very professional. The check in was carried out without any fuss or confusion and we were escorted to our room in no time at all. The room we were allocated for a 10 night stay I felt was too small and immediately expressed my concerns to the night manager. He made a note of my concerns and asked me to speak with the front officer manager when I woke. I visited the front office manager a few hours later (Jakkraphand Khorsawad) and with no effort at all, this very professional manager reallocated us all to a larger room at no extra cost. The room furnishing is a little outdated and drab, but our room was very clean and well maintained throughout our stay. The bathroom is a good size and in a good state of repair. The gymnasium equipment is showing distinct signs of old age and could do with some equipment being replaced with more modern versions. The swimming pool and surrounds are large and well maintained. My wife made very good use of the hotels spa resort and could not praise the location and staff enough. We ate the hotel breakfast every morning during our stay and must commend the chefs on the quality and presentation of all the food that was provided. The choice of food was excellent and the dining room staff were well presented, professional and always courteous. If I return to Bangkok on business I would certainly consider staying at this hotel again. As mentioned by other reviewers of this hotel, the Huay Kwang MRT (underground train service) is a 2 minute walk from the front of the hotel. Depending on your train destination, you can access the BTS (sky train) to continue your journey. We spent a fair amount of our time either at Sukhumvit or Siam shopping area and would most probably choose either of these areas if we were to return to Bangkok, but only because Huay Kwang is a little too far when you are travelling daily to shop.

Hotel is near to MRT Huai Kwang station. Just 2 mins walk. If you plan to stay in this hotel and if you plan to take a cab, then plan your time well. During peak hour, traffic is very congested.

Room is comfortable and bathroom is huge.

Basically, I like the location and the convenience.

Close to the airport, an easy walk to the MRT line to access the riverfront and some of the site downtown.

You know how some nice hotels get a little dated and start to show some benign neglect? This is not one of those hotels...the beds are still nice, the linens are good. The bathroom and the rooms that I had were spacious and clean. The staff is helpful and courteous. There is a nice breakfast Buffett which is a great start to the day.

The room was overall good value.

The hotel is located about 20 minutes from downtown Bangkok but only a 5 minute walk to the train station. Rooms are large but the facilities need to be refurbished a bit. Slightly outdated tv, old linen was used...like we found a stain in our towel which we showed the manager. He had the staff re-clean the room and changed the linen. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially the concierge who is always ready to book a taxi for any city tours or just shopping. We got a good discount and stayed in this hotel so overall it was value for what we had paid but needs a little upkeep! The spa was really good and better than what we experienced in the city. Swimming pool was a little dirty and we saw people swimming with vests from our room, so we didnt use it. The hotel is suitable for anyone travelling to Bangkok on holiday or work but doesnt want to stay in the city centre. Dinner at the restaurant was average but the breakfast spread was really good!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool facing room...that is the only view you can get!

Stayed at the Swissotel in Bangkok were life was just so easy. Would highly recommend it. Standard are high and the staff are great, to point of nothing is a problem. Stayed 3 nights and then travelled elsewhere. Didn't like the elsewhere accommodation so we returned to the Swissotel were they really do care about the finer details. Rating from us a big old 10. Close to the MRT at the Huay Kwang station. The buffet breakfast is awesome and the happy hour at the bar even better.

Room Tip: Go the Kingsize bed. I had no noise problems, slept well.
