Located right in the heart of Patpong night markets, bars, restaurants/cafe's all at your door......you must have a drink or 2 at the Happy Beer Garden located just out the front of the hotel (on the main road) great staff and a great spot to people watch.
Rooms are a good size, great bedding (nice pillows) bathroom is stocked with a good range of toiletries. breakfast buffet is awesome, nice lounge/bar area if you want to relax, escape the heat or people watch. The hotel has all the stuff you would expext from a large hotel, shops, restaurant, pool etc
Located in the lobby area is a beauty salon very clean and some great old fashioned service (shaved with the straight blade) great way to spend an hour and well priced.
my only negative i stayed in a room and i guess the rooms near by all had timber (floating) floor and that does make the rooms noisy.
Staff are excellent and friendly.....this was my first time staying at The Montien and i will be back.

It is a Bussiness class hotel. The rooms are clean & tidy. But carpets little bit smelly. The key tags are very big to handle.we can't find any Tv channels other than the Thai Channels. We need to pay for more channels. The food was soo good with lots of items.
A funny welcoming security will be there to open the doors to get inside.

The Montien is right across the road from the Patpong night market and just 5 minutes walk from the overhead train system, MTR and my favorite Bangkok eatery - Happy Beer Garden (see seperate review) is just around the corner.

The Montien itself is reasonably priced in my opinion and the deluxe rooms are spacious and clean. Our room in the south wing looked straight down Patpong. The pool is good enough, nothing flash. The buffet breakfast included in our rate was pretty good.

As others have mentioned the older doorman is fantastic, speaks pretty good English and can help you with just about anything. He is extremely honest and knows Bangkok like the back of his hand and seems to love his job.

The only real issues I would have with this hotel are the old elevator which is snail pace slow and has doors that have just about taken my hand off a couple of times thinking I could hold the door open - which you can't so watch that.

Despite informing the hotel we were staying with friends and requesting we all be picked up at the airport together we were strangely placed as far away from each other as humanly possible, we in the South Wing and our friends in the North Wing who sounded as if they were in an older style room, yet to be updated.

Not a five star hotel but to me it's all about the location.

The hotel was very expensive for what you pay.
Over 600 people work at hotel.
We found the breakfast more then ample
My wifes daughter came for Breakfast one morning its a Buffet.
She went round 4 Times (pig)
They do have a very good Tailor just by where you have breakfast
I had 3 Pairs of Trousers made & 5 Shirts & my wife ha a 2 piecsuit made.
The Hotel is just across thr Road from Pat Pong Market.
Dont try bringing girls back the security is Red hot
We saw 2 incidents were they were escorted from the hotel & the Resident was asked to leave.

This was our (my wife and I) third time at the Montien and I'm sure we'll stay here on our next trip. We brought my brother and father in law with us and loved it too. If you can get past the fact it's at the end of Patpong Road it's a great value hotel. Nice, clean, spacious rooms. Awesome breakfast buffet; if you can't find something you like there you'd better get someone to check your pulse! Has all the amenities you'd expect, barber / beauty salon, several restaurants, gym, pool, tour service. The location too is very handy. Short walk to Skytrain / BTS, close to markets, restaurants, parks etc. Also as it's at the end of it's own little cul de sac, it's not directly on the main road so you can leave the hotel without getting hassled by every single tuk-tuk, taxi driver or scam artist in town. Highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: We've only ever stayed in the "North Wing" but as it overlooks a major road / highway...

It was my first time stayed at the Hotel. The staff is polite and helpful. I had no complaints about the service provided by them. They had a good and well chosen quality of a number of varieties of the buffet breakfast to a number of foreign guests.

The only problem they have is plumbing. The sink was leaking and the faucet was broken. The water was not draining well in the bathtub. After shower the water was standing to half a tub. The commode that was leaking water all over the bathroom floor.

I have been stopping at the Montien off and on for the past 20 years but, having read some of the recent reviews, I did question whether I had made the right decision in booking again during my recent trip to Thailand. I have to say that during the time we stayed there we had no complaints at all about the standard of the facilities, the service provided by the staff, the quality of the breakfast buffet or any other aspect of the hotel's services. The location of the hotel near to both the skytrain and the MRT (underground) means that you can, with a bit of planning, obtain easy access to most of the sights you would wish to see in Bangkok.

One thing that was noticible from my last visit to Bangkok was that the area around Patpong (100 yards in front of the hotel) seems to have gained far more girly bars and dodgy characters - this is not to say the area is at all threatening but it is something you may wish to consider if travelling with children or if you have sensitive nature. Outside the hotel, on the main road, there are loads of tuk-tuk drivers who seem to think that tourists are walking ATMs. I would strongly advise you to avoid them like the plaque and to take meter taxis which are a cheap and efficient way to get round Bangkok if you are less comfortable using public transport.

Finally look out for the old lad in traditional Thai costume who meets and greets you when you arrive at the hotel. He is older than Adam but he is a source of valuable, independant, information and he will call you a cab and make sure that the driver knows where to take you and that the driver turnson the meter.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra and get a 'superior deluxe' room.
