We stayed at the hotel on 15 Nov 2012 for 3 nights. We choose the hotel because of it is in China town. We did not disappoint at all, every where we went, there is foods and not only foods but delicious and reasonable prices and it is closed to Klongtom market which sell all electronices and hardwares tools in cheap prices (of course mainly made in china!) so again alot of shopping. We walked down the street in the early morning passing the flowers market, then it is not to far from Wat Pho,there in Wat Pho to see reclining buddha 2 days before president Obama visited and then crossed the pier with crossing boat to Wat Arun and then not too far from Grand Palace which we visited in foot all together in the morning. At the pier crossing to Wat Arun, there also plenty of foods vendors so it can be your lunch place for the day. So Grand China Princess is the place where everythings are surrounded it.

Room Tip: Upper floor and you will see the Chapraya river.

Our first stay at Grand China was part of a package deal but since then my whole family has not stayed anywhere else while staying in Bangkok. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and always make you feel welcome as soon as you first walk through the doors. The position is central to everything but the proximity to the cheap ferry system is a real plus with the waterways, the hub of bangkok, on your doorstep. The ferry gives you easy access to the monorail as well, which gets you anywhere in Bangkok easily, especially in peak hour traffic. Being in the heart of China Town allows you to get the real home town feel of Bangkok and the shopping is even cheaper than the markets. The revolving restaurant is a relaxing place to unwind after a big day and the views of the river are amazing. The breakfast caters to everyone and really I don t think anyone could complain about the standard. We found lots of little restaurants to eat nearby and we find the rule of thumb is eat where the locals eat, if its packed then its good. Looking to staying at Grand China on our next visit. Sawadee Ka to all.

My wife and our friend spent 2 nights in this hotel and found it great value. The room was very comfortable, clean. The reasturuant on the 10 th floor was where we had breakfast each day and wow it was good, very good. The staff where very helpfully also.

Good value for money if one can get a discounted rate or free upgrade. Location is good too if you like to explore on foot. Taxis are cheap anyway. The included breakfast was excellent (great eggs to order) and so was the room. We had a good experience traveling with children 6 and 8 years of age. Small but cosy pool/observation deck area which is pretty high up. There are good views of the city and river but rather smoggy most of the time. The hotel is a bit old but rather charming. It is what you make of it. As with all things Thailand, the people are not Westernised enough to understand the needs of some Europeans even though they put on a bit of a facade so be aware of this and just relax.
Overall a good experience. I would stay here again but unfortunately my family and I will give Bangkok a miss for now.

We stayed a total of six nights here. Booked it from Australia, and although the hotel itself is very good value, for us the location wasn't good in that there were no bars or decent restaurants within walking distance.
It is in the heart of Chinatown, with great markets close by, and If you want to walk long distances then OK, but we found each time we needed to get a tuk tuk to Hua Lamphong MRT or go by the river express ferry to Taksin to get into the bar and restaurant area.
We found service in the hotel quite good but it will need some money spent over the next few years.Excellent breakfast and the Chinese restaurant on 7th floor is superb

we stayed there for 3 days while touring Bangkok. The hotel was older and in need of upgrades, though it was clean, and is in an amazing location. XFrom there you can walk to the Grand Palace, several Wats, Cinatown, Little India, et, etc. The food on the top floor fancy restaurant was so so, but the Chinese restaurant on the 8th floor was very good. The tours offered by Co Van Kessle on the third mezzanie floor of the hotel are highly recommended and were very good. We also booked a tour with he company located in the lobby and it was average.

Complaining brings results which is unfortunate. The every day staff a lot more helpful. Dont ask senior staff unless you u complain. Location is in the heart of china town. the area has the biggest population in the world. Apart from china itself. Beware.
