“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

Stayed at the Pathumwan for two nights following the popular deal of ten nights in Krabi and then 2 nights in Bangkok (through Premier Holidays).
Gorgeous hotel, we were very pleasantly surprised. Lovely rooms, decor, very modern and fab location right next to the MBK shopping centre which is fantastic. Just wished we had more time in Bangkok to explore. Only managed to do 1 trip, the free city and temple tour organised by Tour East. We then went to the Siam Niramit (Thailands must see show)... This was okay. Not really our thing - didn't understand what was going really but that is also due to our lack of knowledge of the history of Thailand.
The swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are all definitely worth a visit in this hotel. Also the breakfast is lovely!
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Was with a friend for a short holiday to Bangkok and decided to stay at Pathumwan Princess Hotel as recommended by other friends. Having been our first time in Bangkok for a holiday, the staff at the hotel helped us a great deal in answering our queries ranging from good shopping destinations to the different ways to get cabs to bargaining tips. They were approachable and friendly and staying at the hotel made our stay much smoother than we expected it to be, given that we did not do much planning prior to this trip.

The room was modern yet cosy, the beds were clean and fresh throughout our stay in Bangkok. The staff greet you when they see you and do a really thorough job in cleaning the room (saw the cleaning in action, no doubt about it). The view we had on the 26th floor was great, we would literally map out the shopping route with the view. The hotel also surprised us with random perks such as fruits and a clock that could play music from the iphone. These made the stay even more enjoyable.

The breakfast spread was spectacular. Ranging from fried beehoon to pastries to all sorts of bread to egg omelettes to pancakes and french toast. The food also tasted great!

Would definitely choose Pathumwan Princess Hotel if there is a future trip to Bangkok.

We are a mauture couple 63 and 73. We have made a habit at staying at the Princess over the last 5 years after holidaying in Patong Beach. We generally stay an average of 3 nights in an Executive Plus Suite. It doesn't hurt sometimes to splash out on a bit of luxury. We looked at the economics of the cost of drinks before dinner included (we thought as usual) in the cost of the suite. Access to the Club Lounge seemed to be compensated for the extra cost of the room type due to the considearble number of G&T's and wines able to be consumed for free at 5:30.

Service:- The staff from the hotel entrance, front desk, bars, house maids have excelant English, always a smile and ever willing to help.

Check In:- Effortless. However this year we were not escorted to our room as in the past.

Rooms:- The Suite overlooking the pool is excellant. Almost the size of a small apartment. Spotless and the bed allows easy rest

Location:- This is where I get my Brownie points for each year. She who must be obeyed can shop till she drops. From the Paragon that houses every major label in the world (500 meters) away from MBK to MBK itself, what else could a shopping fanatic want. Thank heavens I am a Gold frequent Flyer with Qantas which allowed me 64 kilos because we bought a 3rd suitcase to carry goods home.

Minor but important downside:- This year I booked the whole trip through a travel agent. The first night we make our usual pilgrimage to the Club Lounge to be greated by the very accomadating Mr Nom. After checking our room booking Mr Nom was very embarrased to advise us that our booking (because it was not made direct with hotel) did not qualify us access without a surcharge. We payed the considerable surcharge but did not use the lounge for the rest of our stay. Whilst waiting for our car to the airport on departure Montha the back office manager who generally greets us every year came down to the front to wish us a safe trip. I advised her that we were not told of our problem with the Lounge before we arrived or at the check in. We have already received an apology and access to a PPB direct access discount for next year.

Mr Nom and Montha look forward to seeing your next year.

To anyone reading this you do not need to be a snob like us and book an Executive suite to enjoy privaleges, service, hospitality and shopping, Book a superior room and enjoy.

Room Tip: Any room within your budget facing the pool

After a busy day venturing around Bangkok, coming back to a shower with great pressure and a bed like a cloud was fantastic. Our view from the 16th floor, through the full length windows was amazing, especially at night. The breakfast buffet was extensive, delicious and fresh. The staff were very friendly, full of smiles and provided some very valuable tips when we decided to explore the city sights. My wife loved that the foyer linked straight into MBK.
Deffiately recommend the Pathumwan Princess and look forward to going back.

On the positive side, there are the location (next to MBK), the fantastic salty-water swimming pool, the very good breakfast buffet and the large size bed. I didn't use the spa or the gym, but they also looked excellent. On the negative side, I had a room on the 9th floor, I would have preferred higher but they had no availability despite having booked well in advance...On the really negative side, the air conditioning unit was so noisy that I had to sleep with ear-plugs (turning it off during the night was not an option, it was too hot). And it had no remote control :(

Room Tip: If you stay at Pathumwan Princess, ask for a room on higher floors (than 9th), both because of bette...

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Location is perfect for those wanting to shop as it was connected to MBK which was amazing. The service was good and room service was very tasty. The buffet breakfast wasnt great for such a lovely hotel as not much was cooked to order and a lot of the food and coffee was cold. The pool and spa was beautiful.
