We stayed at Asia Hotel Bangkok when my wife and I attended a conference at Chulalongkorn University. The hotel is nicely situated along the train system of bangkok which made travelling very easy. It is strategically located if one wishes to go to Chatuchak, Siam, and even MBK which one may go to through BTS (15-20 bhats) or taxi (around 40 bhats)- do not take the taxi or tuk tuk parked in front of the hotel though as these charge more. Get a map from the train station (free) as the ticket seller of BTS are not that really helpful if you ask for directions...they will just point you to the ticket machine.

Service. It was above average. room is always made up even without us asking. towels were always changed but we had to ask for shampoo and soap. the breakfast was really good...buffet with much thai food which i really wanted. front desk though were rude and expect people to comprehend their brand of english right away. PREPARE 1000BHAT PER DAY OF STAY. This would be returned though on check out.

Value. Just paid 1800bhat per day as i was able to see their promo online. from the original price of 2400bhat, i guess it was worth it. nice room...the toilet and tub was quite small though. honeymooners might not really enjoy it. The pool on the fifth floor was also okay.

Sleep quality. Superb. hotel was really quiet during our stay.

cleanliness. above average. acceptable.

location. best. it's just along BTS. going to different places is very easy.

rooms. above average. really comfy.

breakfast. good quality food.

Room Tip: choose rooms near the lift. again, get the free maps. also, prepare 1000bhats per day of stay. disco...

Like many have mentioned here the Asia Hotel is a very good mid-range hotel close to the main shopping areas, and with internal access to the very easy to use Skytrain. The rooms do look a little dated, but are clean and very comfortable. I stayed 5 nights in an Executive room which included breakfast for approx US$60 per night, so very good value. My major disappointment was that there was no internet connection in the room and the WiFi service was not available on my floor. So any work that I needed doing had to be done in the hotel lobby or cafe which is far from ideal. On top of that the cost to use the internet was incredibly expensive. There is a travel agent about 70m to the right of the hotel that provides a comfortable area to use the net for 60 baht an hour, compared to 400 baht an hour at the hotel.
As a general tourist I highly recommend this hotel, but as a business person that requires connectivity to work on the go I would not book the Asia Hotel again. Maybe they have other options that are not advertised for business people, but unless they promote this I think other hotels are a better choice.

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions. The staff are always very pleasant and welcoming, the breakfast excellent and although nowadays the rooms could do with a little upgrading they are still comfortable. They also have a very nice pool on the roof along with a poolside bar. It is very convenient for the Skytrain as you can walk out from the hotel directly on to the station. Very central.

This is our 2nd stay at this hotel. We love the BTS connection which is so convenient and easily accessible to all the different parts of Bangkok especially to MBK and Chatuchak weekend market. Getting to and from the airport via BTS is so easy too. Estimated time from airport to the hotel is 35 minutes. The front counter staff is so smiley and accomodating when we asked to see the different kinds of rooms. Kudos to them for the great service and smiles especially when you just arrived tired after your flight.
I have stayed at Pathunwam Princess twice before and in comparing both hotels, I would say Asia Hotel is value for money.
Hotel room may not be fantastic but the BTS convenience certainly makes up for it.
The breakfast buffet has a spread wide enough for your taste buds.

Stayed here for 4 nights was quite happy with it. About 5min or so walk to siam paragon, 711, many markets and shopping areas. Good priced rooms and has nice pool and spa to relax after the hot days. Only thing i was disapointed at was the tour desk booked tiger temple and floating market. Paid 1500b per person the driver asked us if we wanted to see floating market we said ok figured was covered in the 3000b i paid. Then we get to market and to go on boat 900b per person and when we didnt go the driver got angry and didnt talk to us almost the rest of the trip. We got to tiger temple then still had to pay for admission and everything. His car was infested with ants and he talked very bad to my girlfriend. Then he also offered to take me to Pattaya after i finish in Bangkok for 4000b!! Absolute joke!! Offered him a 1baht tip because he was such a [--]. Hotel was great but avoid the Taxis and Tour Desk book tours elsewhere.

This huge hotel caters to tour groups from China, and has deals with various airlines to provide cut-price accommodation.
There are too few reception staff to deal promptly with the volume of customer check-ins and outs and queries. Nor do most receptionists speak English well, which slows the process further. The custom of taking credit card details and "dummy charging" 1000baht as a safeguard in case the customer uses the mini bar further slows the check in process and is rather insulting and lousy PR.
Rooms are clean, beds comfortable, and everything was maintained well. The bedside press button control of lights and aircon temp is a very smart device which I really appreciated.
However, the whole hotel's air-conditioning is far too cold for comfort, and the non smoking floors and rooms do smell of stale smoke. Reception eventually sent someone to spray my room to freshen it. This is not really a solution!
The fruit basket and morning newspaper were nice touches, but the quality of the breakfast buffet food was uniformly average to poor despite extensive choices. Everything had been heavily raided and picked over but not replaced with fresh dishes when I arrived for breakfast at 7:45am. Again, the staff to customer ratio was too low! The coffee shop is really not large enough for the number of breakfastin guests, either. A Chinese family kindly allowed me to join them at their table, since there were no spares.
Overall, the hotel was a quiet place to sleep for a business traveller. The location next to Ratchadewi is the biggest plus for this hotel, but it is hardly a showcase quality experience for most people on holidays

We stayed here only as a stopover for three days. It was perfect for us as we just wanted to go shopping. The sky rail stops at the hotel so we could go to MBK or the markets, it was so convenient. The restaurants weren't bad either.
