The hotel is not bad, has an excellent location in the heart of the city. Rooms not very big, not like the bathroom - does not match the 5 star hotels, online pay and very expensive if you want free - must go down to the lobby. I want to mention breakfast - they're gorgeous! Huge selection of different dishes - baked goods, Japanese food, juices and much more. Pool is small and it is very cold water, pool bar very expensive. There is not a bad fitness center and sauna. In general, would put this hotel four points.

I stayed in this hotel from 5th to 7th Sep 2011 and I must say that I was very impressed by the service.

As many others have mentioned, I stayed in this hotel partly due to its excellent location beside the Platinum Fashion Mall in the Pratunam district.

At first sight, the hotel is indeed spacious and grand, with ample business and conference facilities. There are traditional music performances in the lobby during the evenings which lend a it classy touch. The staff are attentive and ever ready to assist with finding directions to various destinations.

The rooms were spacious, comfortable and provided most required amenities. A travel adaptor was available in the room minibar for guest use which I thought was a really thoughtful idea.

The hotel breakfast spread was large and assorted and there was nothing more I could ask for. I also had the chance to have dinner at the hotel's award-winning Thai restaurant, Thai on 4, whose chef supposedly cooked for the Thai King before.

It was indeed a novel experience to be served rice of four colors, Jasmine, Saffron, Pandan and Brown rice on the same plate to complement the food. The food was traditional Thai fare such as pandan chicken, grilled seabass and green curry, served promptly and steaming hot. The green curry was very good, but I felt that the tom yum dish was a tad on the sweet side. I was very impressed by the enthusiasm of the restaurant service staff, who explained the different rices to us and one whom got the lift ready for us when we left the restaurant, thanking us profusely. It really felt like they went the extra mile for us.

The only small issues with my stay was the toilet door lock being slightly faulty and both the access cards for one of our rooms not being able to open the room on the second evening we were back, but that was rapidly rectified with a quick visit to the reception counter.

All in all, I felt really well cared for during my stay in this hotel and it is indeed a very nice place to return to after a long day of shopping and exploring the sights of Bangkok, Thailand. Keep up the good work Amari!

I stayed at this hotel from the 3rd Sep 2011 to the 8th Sep 2011 with my boyfriend. The hotel by itself is quite nice and very centrally located. We got ourselves a grand deluxe room inclusive of breakfast. The check in was quite smooth but I was very disappointed with the other services provided at this hotel.

The Positives:

The location of this hotel is amazing. It is right opposite to the Platinum Mall and you can find lots of other malls and local thai markets close by. There is also a night market at walking distance. You can also find quite a few foot massage places near by, but not as many as you would find around other places in Bangkok. If you are looking for a good foot massage place at a walking distance, I would recommend the foot massage place at the Big C mall.

The breakfast is amazing! They have a large variety of food ranging from Asian, Indian, American, Continental to Mediterranean and you will not be disappointed. The service at breakfast is not amazing though, and apart from tea and coffee, they don't serve specialty coffees such as lattes, cappuccino's etc.

There is a tour desk located on the third floor and you can make a lot of very good tour arrangements from here.

The room is very spacious and nicely appointed with all the basic amenities.

The negatives:

Despite its central location, there is no train station around. The closest one is about 15 mins away.

The mattress was as hard as a rock! I'm not extremely concerned with mattress quality at hotels, but this one really put me off. So if you happen to be one of the people that really cares about your mattress, then this hotel is not meant for you.

The concierge was not helpful at all. Although we had done our research before coming to Thailand, we were really expecting the concierge to help us out with directions to local markets, approximate tuk-tuk prices to various places in Bangkok and just give us some suggestions in general. They couldn't even make suggestions about good foot massage spas or local restaurants in the area. It felt like they could be doing so deliberately because they kept suggesting the restaurants and spa at the hotel (because they work for the hotel), but we clearly told them that those were not in our budget and were really expecting some honest suggestions. At one point, were felt lost and called the concierge for directions back to the hotel from a certain train station. They didn't know what they were really saying and told us we were about 40mins away from the hotel if we took a tuk-tuk or cab when it actually only took us 12-15mins to get back in a tuk-tuk. My advice to you is: go to the tour desk on the third floor. The lady there was extremely helpful and will help you out with local directions and also recommend the good tours.

On quite a few of the days, it felt like the housekeeping had done a very halfhearted job and didn't feel like we were coming back into a room that was remade.

We had a horrible experience with the in-room dining services. We ordered food in twice. The first time there were way too many communication issues because the hotel representative did not know English very well and it took me about 6 minutes to get a simple hummus and Arabic bread order across to her. The second time we were able to place our order quite quickly and ordered in some chicken biriyani from the Mediterranean menu, and it was the worst we had ever tasted (and we are not very picky when it comes to food, especially in a foreign country). I don't know if it was just our bad luck, but from our experience, in room Mediterranean dining is a no-no at this hotel.

You can only use the Business center for free for half an hour in the day. Since the concierge was hardly helpful, we used the internet every day during our stay to figure out where to go next. The staff at the concierge was not very hospitable and very cold towards us.

Rooms are spacious and nice. The breakfast is amazing. Although they did not reserve us the type of rooms we ordered in advance, the service was otherwise good. Located just in front of the platinum fashion mall. Pleasant atmosphere and nice lobby.

We got 2 rooms sharing on a special rate. Most of the time when you get a room at a special rate you get a not so special room .... But my expectations about that myth was ruled out. Great people, service, room, breakfast. Could not ask for anything else.

Room Tip: Checked and compare ... Got the best rate at Amari site.

It is always a delight to return to this Hotel where guests are treated with genuine Thai hospitality. The location is ideal with shoppers paradise out the front door including Pantip Plaza for any computer needs. There has been a casual dining area named Cascades just completed in front section of this Hotel which is superb. The swimming pool on the 8th floor is a real oasis in the heart of Bangkok and is great for R&R. after shopping. On the 4th floor is Thai on 4 - an authentic Thai restaurant with excellent service and food at reasonable prices - a must.
