Amari Boulevard Bangkok
Ranked #265 of 891 Hotels in Bangkok
Reviewed September 11, 2012

Stayed here for 3 days last week.. The experience was a pleasant surprise after reading all the reviews..
- First, I had requested for an early check in, I got my room at 6am though official check in was 2pm.
- The rooms were large and comfortable, nothing to complaint about at all. Toilets were fine with clean/soft towels etc. I got a room in the white building behind.
- The breakfast was priced ridiculously high, I ate out all days as there are many options all around
- There is a supermarket just across the road with a 24hrs cafe, this is a real blessing
- All the staff were friendly and ready to help, no issues with English at all
- Though the hotel is on a side road it is probably 200 mts from the main Shukumvit road which makes it more peaceful away from all the hustle n bustle
- The gym was pretty mediocre with outdated eqp & machines
- The lobby & cafe on the ground floor has 50 to 70 guests from the middle east at all times, it gives a feel of walking into a Dubai mall many times
- For whatever reasons I could hear the neighbor & the 'loud' people on the corridor once in a while
- The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, shops, street market... A cluster of night clubs is around half a kilometer from here.. To me this is a big advantage as one need to travel too much..
Overall a very good experience for the price I paid... I will definitely go back...

Room Tip: As for a suite in the building in the rear..

Thank you for your comprehensive review. I was happy to read that overall you enjoyed the hotel and found that it offered value for the price quoted. In regards to the breakfast buffet, please note that we do offer an option to book the room including breakfast for a difference of THB 400 compared to the room only rate, which we consider reasonable given that we offer a full breakfast buffet with western, Asian and Middle East dishes. Yours sincerely.

This a nice 4* hotel with many facilities. loved the pool on the roof of the hotel. its highly recommended for single people not for couples.
the area is full of local nightbars.
there are many other nice Amari hotels with better location. i would not stay there again. as the area is a bit strange. i believe its suitable for young men seeking for night life only.....

Room Tip: high floor rooms.

Thank you for your review. I was happy to read that you enjoyed the hotel, but sorry you did not like the location. We do indeed manage over seven properties in different areas of the city to suit all needs. However in general our location is also appreciated by couples since apart from the night life, we are very close to the skytrain and are surrounded by a wide choice of dining venues and shopping facilities. Yours sincerely.

I was actually booked in a different hotel, but they moved us to this one, because of repairs. It was a good surprise. I was looking for a convenient hotel in the Sukhumvit area, and for price I paid, I really got a good deal here! We got a large room at the 11th floor of the old wing, with its own balcony. So we got great views of the city and the pool below. Found time to use the pool, and it was relaxing - not a lot of users. The hotel itself is 100 meters or so inside Soi 5, and just 5 minutes walk from BTS Nana Station. Across from it is the 24 hour Foodland supermarket, which serves good breakfast - a good deal at 57 baht. This is good because my booking did not include breakfast.

Check in tends to take quite a long time, at least when we were there. The hotel gets a lot of Arabic, Pakistani and Indian clients, as the area around it has a lot of Arabic and Muslim establishments.

Our biggest complaints were:
1. No free internet. Hotel charges a hefty 400B per day.
2. TV signal in our room was atrocious.
3. They wanted to charge us 40B for a bucket of ice!

Overall, it's a good entry-level Amari, and good for those who want to be close to the BTS, and the Sukhumvit area, especially those who want to experience the Nana nightlife.

Room Tip: Get rooms at the old wing if you want a balcony, so you can have a great view of the city.

Thank you very much for your review. We were happy to read that you enjoyed our hotel and its facilities and as such not inconvenienced by the move. In regards to the internet, it is free when booking on-line. If you were moved from one of our sister hotels it should actually have been free as well, therefore I appreciate your feedback. Ice is provided for free when drinks are taken from the minibar. Thank you also for your comment on the TV signal which we are monitoring and are planning to upgrade. Yours sincerely.

Good location on Soi 5 opposite 24 hour supermarket and good selection of restaurants. 5 minutes walk from Nana BTS station. Stayed here several times over the years and like many hotels here badly in need of revamp. Appears to be marketing mainly Arab tourists which can lead to long queues at check in. Service non existent. Sent me to wrong lift in wrong wing and had to find right one myself as staff did not seem to know where rooms were. The basic rooms are just that very basic though clean. The deluxe rooms in the separate wing worth the extra. Main complaint is that internet connection which I need was appalling. So if coming on business and need internet do not even consider it. Will drive you mad.

Room Tip: Pay extra and go for deluxe room

The location is brilliant which is the best thing about this hotel. Close to BTS and walking distance from everything.

Another thing worth mentioning was the free shuttle (Tuk Tuk) to BTS

The check in was efficient. The room was quite dull and tired looking though spacious enough as ours had a sitting area. The room had 2 televisions so good if you have kids. Decent pick of channels.

Our experience with the quality of food at the restaurant downstairs was most disappointing and the service terrible. Room service food was even worse.

The pool is small and wasn't temperature controlled. The service at the pool bar was also very slow.

Good for an overnight stay - no more.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the location but were sorry to read about your experience in the restaurants. You are pointing out in your review about a free shuttle to the BTS. Please note that the Amari Boulevard does not offer this service as we are 3 minutes walk from the station and it woudl take actually longer to reach it by Tuk Tuk. However our sister property the Amari Residences Sukhumvit on Sukhumvit Soi 2 offers such service to connect to Ploenchit Station. Yours sincerely.

I can't belive the Amari is so low on the tripadvisor list of hotels in Bankok. I stayed at the Amari for three nights in late July and early August after a five week trek through S.E Asia. It was everything I could have wanted as a relaxing spot to recover!
The pool area was lovely and the service there was great. The room was clean and modern with good TV, in room safe and all the mod cons.
It is in Sukumvit, a nice area with good bars and cafes and its right by the skytrain.
I would thoroughly recommend it and fully intend to stay there when I next visit Bangkok. I am a very experienced traveller and all I want is a place that is clean, safe, near good sights and facilities, where the staff are friendly and the Amari Boulevard has all those.

Room Tip: As high as you can, Sukhumvit is busy and the road can be noisy. I stayed on the 6th floor, ask for...

Located on Sukhumvit street at Soi 5 within 5 minutes walk of the SkyRail station at Nana so very good for independant travel round main areas of Bangkok. Now depends on what you are looking for and reason for trip. My wife and I had just come up from Phuket to spend four nights before returning to the UK. Hotel clean and comfortable although we were in the old original part of the building and would say it was somewhat tired. However service excellent staff very considerate and helpful and undoubtedly excellent value in every department - drinks and food. First class breakfasts with a wonderful choice of options. Had two evening meals in for personal reasons as most people seem to eat out but on both occassions excellent food beautifully prepared. Obvu]iously we were not there to party and so could not comment on location for night life but would say that the hotel is something of an oasisi in an area that we felt left a bit to be desired!! Although when reflecting on Bangkok in general everywhere seems to be an incredible mix of ancient modern affluence and poverty and the area around the hotel has large number of street market stalls at night and a mix of people of all professions! Useful for shops and skytrain service but we felt a long way from the main tourist sights and so trips to main temples and palaces took some time especially as the traffic throughout the day is unbelievable. Allow pleanty of time to get from A to B!! All in all enjoyed the stay and hotel served purpose and looked after us well but would probably choose somewhere else if returning although doubt if we will be going back!!

Room Tip: Old original rooms provide good value but better rooms available at additional cost.
