We needed a hotel close to the airport for just one night. This hotel is literally connected to the airport. The room was large, clean (not so much the bathroom, which had mold in the shower), and the furniture in great condition, but dark (we were on the second floor). The bathroom didn't have a system for washing after doing the do... which is weird for thailand, and i would imagine unexpected for any European or Asian traveler. And the shower design leaks into the rest of the bathroom.

The hallways seem to be getting some work done, as the ceilings were in bad condition and there were a lot of cloths trying to keep the debris from falling on the guests, but the lobby area was quite nice.

Its not a five star, so don't expect it to be. The staff could have been a bit more friendly, the first and only smile we saw from anyone working in the hotel was from the receptionist when we were checking out. The staff in general seemed very stressed, and not so willing to help. When we asked for a non smoking room, they said yes, but then put us in a smoking room. We had to haul our own luggage up to the room, no one offered to help, not even the bell hop standing next to the elevator.

Its good for its purpose, being close enough to the hotel to catch a 6am flight, and cheap, so i would stay here again if i had to. But definitely not for long term or to explore the city.

The hotel is a very nice hotel across the street from Don Muang Airport in Bangkok. This airport is serviced by Air Asia, NOK Air and Bangkok Air and a couple other small airlines. The hotel actually has their own covered walkway across the highway directly into the terminal. There are limited restaurants in the hotel but plenty for a one or two night stay. It is pretty close to Future Park and Zeer for shopping and entertainment.
The rooms are large and at one time very nice. The hotel shows it's age, but is being renovated. The pool is lovely and private. We went for the Grand Deluxe King because the room is larger with a patio sitting area .....and it gives you 3 hours of free WiFi per day. The basic Deluxe room will charge you for WiFi. The overall room rate is quite reasonable for what you get. I believe we paid 1,800 Baht per night. Basic room was 1,300 Baht.
Now when overnight in Bangkok this will be our home. *** Do not confuse this airport DMK with the main airport BKK across town.

Room Tip: Go for the Grand Deluxe for large room and free WiFi.

Stayed the night while I waited for my connecting flight the next morning to Chiang Rai. Very pleased with this hotel. It is very busy being across the road from Don Muang Airport and perfect for transiting passengers.
Definitely stay here again if I need to. Highly recommend it.

We stay in this hotel for one night when we just arrive Bangkok. We check-in the very late night, the front desk staff are polite and give us an upgrade of the room. However, the room is old, the bell boy help us to carry luggage but he waited in our room after he drop down the luggage (aiming tips) which is a too obvious act and the breakfast is just average.

But in term of location, it is the best location to stay near the airport since it is connected with the hotel.

It would be very nice if they will refurbish the building.

we stayed few hours at this hotel. we reached Bangkok at 10.00pm and were having an early flight to Krabi (6.40 am). we choose the hotel because of the location, you have direct access to the airport terminal.
at the time of booking we asked for non smoking room, and thanks god we got it.

However, the reception staff forgot that smiling is part of their job!

The lady who did our check-in, wanted to make me pay the room a second time. even though i gave her the booking confirmation copy showing that the room was paid. it took her 20 mn. to understand that.

The room was clean with comfortable beds; we tried their room service, food was just OK!
we did not have breakfast at the hotel, So I cannot comment on that.

While checking out they tried once again to make us pay the room. I asked to see the manager but obviously he was not there at 5 am. again it took them 15 mn to confirm that room was already paid.

By the way, I booked the room directly on Amari website, so I was just wondering what would have happened if it was booked thru another site!

I would recommend the hotel for one night stay and if you are flying from Don Muang Airport.

I've stayed at the Amari Don Muang a few times over the last few years, most recently 3 weeks ago. It is a very busy hotel lately as the traffic at Don Muang Airport has increased markedly due to all domestic flights in Bangkok were moved from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Don Muang Airport, the Amari Don Muang being the closest hotel to the Don Muang Airport. It is so close that there is a walkway on the 2nd floor of the hotel leading directly to the terminal. It is very convenient for people wanting a full service hotel close to the airport.
Checking in and out was a bit slow this last visit as they are very busy and there were only 2 people working the desk when I was there, so I would advise leaving extra time for checking out. I found the staff to be professional and polite but not overly friendly as they are probably overworked and don't have time for small talk, which is understandable. The room was large and very comfortable but a bit dated as the hotel is going on 30 years old. There were a couple of problems with the room. The shower drain was plugged so I was standing in a few inches of water while showering which was unpleasant. Also, the thermostat didn't work. the central AC blew freezing cold air no matter what the thermostat was set to. It was so cold in the room that I had to turn off the AC fan to get warm but of course the rooom then became too hot. I didn't want to keep turning the AC on and off so I spent the rest of the stay under the covers to keep warm. This is not something that a customer should have to deal with. It seems that the maintenance at the hotel is quite lacking. I did complain, but I thought I wasn't taken very seriously so I don't think the AC issue will change any time soon, which is a shame, because the hotel is very good in every other way. I found the food in the restaurant to be excellent. Room service was good quality and prompt. The price of the room is very reasonable for a 4 star hotel. So I will probably stay there again, even though there is a maintenance issue, just because the location is so convenient. Perhaps next time I can ask for a room with a working thermostat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a working AC thermostat or you will be very cold!

I booked this hotel not knowing enough about Bangkok to know that this was not across from BKK, but rather the older international airport! We were bummed to find out upon our late arrival at BKK that we were not walking across the street to the hotel (there is one, it's the Novotel), but rather had to pay $50 for about a 1 hour transfer to this one! : (

It would, however, be very convenient if you were flying to/from Don Muang Airport DMK early or late.

But this review is about the hotel...rooms were spacious, nicely decorated, modern & clean. If you want a nonsmoking room, be sure to specify clearly in your reservation & at checkin! This is the case anywhere in Thailand! Breakfast was decent, though not as varied & of the quality as the Sivatel we stayed at in Bangkok earlier in the week or as it was in other hotels in Thailand we stayed in. But you could still get plenty to eat if you could get to the dishes among the crowds! Prepaying for breakfast was nice as we got to sit in an uncrowded part of the restaurant!

Room Tip: Rooms are all going to be noisy..you can hear everything in the hall & all the doors slam easily...
