“Love the breakfast buffet, excellent gym”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

The two things I love most about a high class hotel: the breakfast and the gym.

The Gym:
I love that there are free weights. There's a bench press, arm curling bar and several dumbbells with varying weights. There are also a decent number of machines, which are kind of maintained and a fair amount of treadmills. I spent over an hour working out in that place. If you're in the mood afterward to have a protein shake, you can get one right outside the workout room. Which is next to the pool.

Breakfast:
Outstanding breakfast buffet. Seriously, I love their options. The staff are quite friendly as well, and I love how they don't try to "smother" me with service. I prefer when they keep their distance, but not so far away that it's not like they're inaccessible when I need them. Many upper-class hotels make me feel suffocated as they try to pour all my drinks for me, unfold my napkin and stick it on my lap, etc... NO! I can take care of myself, thank you!
So anyway... awesome breakfast buffet.

Location:
There is a lot to do near this hotel, and it's right next to the monorail. Easy access to several locations with just a five minute walk!

Cons:
Internet is twenty bucks a day. What the heck, yo? If you have a Marriott card then it's free. It's also free to sign up. But really, I don't go to Marriott that often so it's kinda frustrating that they don't just make internet free in the first place. Especially when you spend so much for a room!

We stayed here for 3 nights when we arrived to Thailand and then again for the last night before leaving for home. A large JW Marriott - good location. Great staff, very helpful. Great gym and the fact that you can used the sauna, whirlpool, and steam room is a great bonus! We only ate at the Baking company for breakfast on two mornings. It was a nice spot for a casual breakfast - the buffet breakfast that was in the main dining room was huge and too expensive for what we were looking for. There are a lot of mid to low range restaurants nearby but not a lot of nicer spots. We ended having to take a taxi to a couple of other restaurants but with taxis so cheap it wasn't a big deal. All in all a good place to stay.

Dear TravelledalotCanada

I am very happy to read your review. Thank you for the nice words you have for the facilities and service at the JW Marriott Bangkok and thank you for recommending the Bakery Shop and particularly the Gym facilities to fellow travelers.

The Gym is indeed one of the biggest at any hotel in the city, occupying a sizeable space on the 6th floor, next to the outdoor pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and the Spa. It is well liked by hotel guests and local members alike, allowing for a serious work out at any time of the day.

Thank you for staying at the JW Marriott Bangkok and wishing you safe travels, where ever you go.

One of my traveling companions is a big points collector so we let him arrange the hotels on this leg of the trip. We were in the club section on the 16/17th floors where the rooms were spotlessly clean and the service impeccable. The club lounge was fantastic and the meals served there nothing less than outstanding especially the BBQ night. The location is conveniently located in sight of Nana Plaza if you so inclined. I am certain that the cost was more than I would usually pay on a two month tour of Asia but it was certainly worth it. The staff were excellent in every respect and made the stay a delight. Thank you.

Our second stay at this JW and certainly worth it. The Platinum upgrade to the Executive Floor and lounge access truly made the stay extra special, but the hotel is great on its own. Super location near the Nana Skytrain station and lots of shopping and eating places. Service, of course, couldn't be topped. Sabreena (one of the managers) made it a point to chat with us every evening in the lounge and answered any/all of our questions and shared suggestions on places to shop and eat. She truly cared about us having an enjoyable and memorable stay. And everything in the lounge was great, food, drink and service, throughout the day. Metta, in the mornings, always had a pleasant word and smile - and made GREAT omelets. "Babe" the concierge (actually her name is Taviporn but told us everyone calls her Babe) also went out of her way to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable and arranged several events for us, as well as our transportation back to the airport. Little doubt that on our next trip to Bangkok, we'll choose the JW again.

There really isn't anything this hotel doesn't have. JW Marriot is conveniently located in the middle of the city right off the Skytrain near Nana. There is a bar in the entrance with reception on the right corner with a restaurant off to the side

The rooms are decent with a large bed and a good sized bathroom. The real hallmark to the hotel is the excellent service at every level. The gym is also perhaps one of the best in any hotel with tons of machines, a great locker room with steam, shower and Jacuzzi. I had an unbelievable Thai massage in The Spa

If you are looking for a hotel in the middle of Bangkok, JW should definitely be considered

Nice, clean and chain name. If you are looking for a good place to stay close to Nana then this will be one of the best choices. The price is expensive for Bangkok given the fact that there are hotels which are as good for half the price. The customer service is great and the location is nice. JW will never disappoint you.

Stayed at the JW for 5 days over New year.
Rooms were very clean and comfortable and all public areas very pristine.
Stayed on executive floor and must say the lounge is one of the best we have ever had with the added bonus of outside terrace. All the staff on the 'exc floor and lounge were excellent and very friendly.
During our stay we visited the Nami Teppenyaki Steakhouse in the hotel. The service was tops and the Kobe beef, Just excellent. Well worn a visit! To finish our evening we had a night cap in the lobby bar and the Irish coffee was the best I have ever had.
The Wifi was very temperamental at times. On three occasions during our stay our room key would not work (our son also had the same problem with his room key) however the problem was delt with immediately.
The hotel is very close to the the sky train so getting around was easy.
A great stay at this hotel.
