Hotel staff all so helpful, amazing breakfast buffet with international food of a high quality. Rooms, pool, pool bar really beautiful. staff you meet around the hotel ( particularly Sunny) really friendly and efficient.
Good Italian restaurant in the hotel with great personal service from the chef - just ask for 'Montalbano'! He will make you what you want.

This was my third stay at this hotel and this is the only hotel I want to stay in when in Bangkok. All the staff was super nice and polite - from the reception to the room maid. Pool area is like a oasis in the middle of a hot and humid city. The breakfast is perfect.

Some may consider that the hotel is a little bit outside of everything, but that is not true. The hotel shuttle boat takes you in 15 mins to the nearest skytrain station. It is often the fastest and definitely the most comfortable ways of moving around.

The only negative thing is that the old shopping mall is gone and they are building a new one at the moment. The construction work do not disturb at all, but the options of having a quick lunch or snack are now limited to the hotel restaurants, which are a little bit expensive. The new shopping center should be ready in 2015 and then the problem is solved.

I highly recommend a stay in this lovely hotel.

Dear OlliHelsinki,
I sincerely value your loyalty and thank you for your kind support in choosing to stay with when in Bangkok. You are right, a new shopping mall together with our new Avani Hotel will be ready end of 2015; but until then we highly recommend a visit to Asiatique, the night bazaar which is across from our Resort for a quick shopping or a change of dining options.

I look forward to your fourth visit…

Anyone who has ever been to Bangkok knows that it is not a peaceful, glamorous city! So staying at the Anantara provided us with an oasis from the fast pace of Bangkok. The room was absolutely beautiful, and we were upgraded to a 'suite' (a slightly bigger room). The customer service was unsurpassed. The spa was wonderful… the best Thai massage Ive ever had! The pool area was stunning, surrounded by palm trees and plenty of lounges to lie around and relax. We were at a conference at the Anantara, and the staff were incredibly helpful towards the attendees of the conference. The breakfast at The Market Place was a wonderful buffet, with every imaginable breakfast dish from around the world. I would highly recommend the Anantara. I do not agree that this hotel is worn down. It is beautiful and a well run hotel/spa.

I stayed at the Anantara Riverside Resort & Spa in February 2014 with my fiance. It was our first time to Thailand and we felt at home as soon as we arrived. Upon arriving in Bangkok, we decided to use the Sky Train and Boat Taxi and the hotel looks simply beautiful as you get closer to it on the boat. Don't let the hotel's location put you off, far from it. We found it's location a haven after a day out in Bangkok, enjoyin the peace and quiet the location offers. The hotel runs Boat Taxis every 15 minutes to the other side of the river, for free, which makes everything so very accessible. The hotel staff were polite, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel is a large hotel, but doesn't feel as it is due to the layout, and certainly never felt over-crowded or busy. Definitely worth a stay, we loved it and was sad to leave!

Friendly and professional staff at Kasara Lounge, Breakfast area and Pool bar and pool area. Excellent room-keeping. You cannot feel better as to stay at Anantara. Starting with extraordinary friendly doorman/woman to Reception or Kasara Lounge. Every year a surprise that the staff can remember you and are reading your wishes from your eyes. Together with a tropical paradise in the middle of Bangkok on a cat-jump into the trouble of the city you can`t expect more than Anantara offers you. Leaving the hotel we plan always the next stay. It`s like a coming home.

Room Tip: I prefer since years rooms with a view to the river. Sitting here to watch the "travel" on...

We stayed at the Anantara Riverside Resort & Spa for three nights in March with my wife and 11 month old son and it's hands down the best hotel we've stayed at in Bangkok.

This has everything you'd want from a resort style hotel, meaning there's no need to go off-site, however the opportunity to leave and explore Bangkok is easy enough.

The hotel isn't centrally located, situated just on the other side of the river from the Asiatique shopping centre complex, but this wasn't a problem. There's a free shuttle boat that drops you off at the Saphan Thaksin pier, where you can get boats or trains that take you all over Bangkok. The boat also drops you off at Asiatique, which is a great place to get food in the evenings and only a five minute trip.

From the moment we checked in we felt a great warmth at the hotel, with the staff providing a friendly greeting and making a real fuss over our little boy. This warmth became a theme for the duration of our stay, with all staff taking the time out to talk and help - the Spa Director and even hotel Manager took the time to chat, offering tips and asking us about our stay.

We had a room in the main hotel, which was surprisingly large with a balcony big enough for a table and two chairs, which caught the afternoon sun. There was a separate shower and bath with two sinks as well as a vanity table in the bathroom.

The bed was large with a duvet and plenty of decent pillows and the room was well appointed, even with fresh milk in the fridge for your tea or coffee.

The hotel has a great pool with a shallow area for kids, bar, and even a separate jacuzzi. There are enough loungers around the pool to satisfy everyone and despite a few kids enjoying the water, it felt quiet and relaxing.

Food at the hotel was first class. Breakfast had everything you could wish for, even apple crumble, with the option to sit outside or inside. Everything was fresh with a variety that would ensure you could eat something different each morning for a month.

There are a number of restaurants on site and ate outside at the less formal restaurant by the pier on our last night, and had some fantastic Thai food. We also ordered room service one night, which we didn't have to wait an age for, and it was presented well and tasted great.

We also had a coffee and cake one afternoon at Numero Uno, which is heaven for anyone with a sweet tooth. The range of chocolates, cakes, pastries and sweets here are as good as at any coffee shop in town.

All in all, we had a wonderfully relaxing and pleasant stay at the Anantara Riverside Resort and will stay here the next time we're lucky enough to be in Bangkok.

Great staff. Good restaurants. Rooms are slightly worn down, poor craftsmanship (shower door didn't close, tons of water ion the floor each time you took a shower. Toilet from 1982...? etc.) Pool area (tiles from 1983...?) felt a bit worn down and smells of diesel from the ferry boats. All in all, we had a nice stay here, but will probably chose a different hotel (Ramada or Sheraton Royal Orchid) next time, closer to sky train and much better river views. Better value for your money elsewhere.
