“Luxury and Location”

The Anantara is a world-class hotel - PERIOD. The location is fabulous, the service impeccable, and the amenities almost too numerous to mention. The rooms choices range from deluxe river view suites to standard single rooms, all tastefully decorated and exuding the "Oriental Allure" that a first time visitor would expect. The river shuttle service is an adventure in itself, providing free service to light-rail hubs that can take you anywhere in the city. Their tour and travel office is one of the best I've seen, and you do NOT have to worry about arranging tours prior to your visit to Thailand - they can arrange EVERYTHING. The restaurants and cafes, ranging from Trader Vics to the Poolside Cabana can satisfy anyone's palates, and the shopping center and adjacent mall is filled with outstanding ice cream parlors and even a Sizzler Steak House. The grounds and hotel are beautiful, and we will be returning.

Room Tip: We stayed in an Executive Suite over-looking the river and it was a beautiful room with incredible v...

The hotel is situated by the river, with beautiful gardens, a lovely pool, good gym, and an excellent selection of food from the restaurants. The rooms are lovely and clean and very comfortale. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. It is the perfect location for peace and quiet and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Every time I have stayed there I have been reluctant to leave and this time was no exception

We spent 4 nights at Anantara to see Bangkok and from here spend two weeks in the south at two different hotels. This hotel was a delightful start to a wonderful holiday. We are a family of four (two kids aged 10 and 8) and had two double bed rooms with connecting door with a view over the river and the lush pool area.

Pro:
- Just a short boat trip away from the Asiatique night market which we visited most evenings
- Shuttle boat staff very friendly
- Shuttle boat free and frequent
- Overall nice, lush, tropical setting
- Clean, large rooms
- Worth the money

Con:
- This is a fairly big hotel so there are quite a lot of people at the breakfast buffet in the morning. Buffet otherwise very good but not immaculate (people queue up for scrambled eggs blocking the way to ham and bacon).
- River can be loud with barges and long-tail boats, but then again this is a BIG city
- Hotel cafe and restaurants are quite expensive compared to outside the hotel
- Although the location is top right on the river and regarding access to Asiatique, it does take quite a while to get anywhere in the city because you first have to take the shuttle boat to the other side of the river for the skytrain or public/private boat trips. The first time this is fun and fascinating. From the second time this is a nuisance.

I cannot say one bad thing about this hotel, it far exceeded our expectations and the reviews that we read on this site. The staff were amazing, always so happy and keen to go out of their way to help you. The hotel itself was beautiful and so peaceful after they madness and mayhem of being in the centre of Bangkok. Breakfast was superb, and so much choice. We ate in 4 of the restaurants and the food was very good in all of them, particularly Trader Vic's where we had an very memorable meal, for all the right reasons. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to any of our friends or family. Hope to return some day.

The grounds in the garden and the resort itself are absolutely beautiful. I loved our room and were upgraded to a mini suite for free. However please use caution when using anything in the mini bar in your room. The room itself was a good value, but everything else at the resort was so expensive. It was the only resort we stayed at in Thailand that charged for wireless internet. There is a US$10 bottle of water next to your TV, if not paying attention to the label, you would be in for an unpleasant surprise. It literally had me uneasy about using anything provided in the room. The free shuttle boat was a plus and also the free day old bread to feed the fish on the river, however, everything else will cost you an arm and a leg. The customer service was superior, the food and beverages were average. The management really need to reevaluate costs for all other food and beverage options, as there are not many other options in the vicinity. Free internet should be a given.

First and foremost, breakfast is simply astonishing. Dim Sum, heaps of fruit, a bunch of "stations" for eggs, pancakes, etc..., loved the juice bar ("why, hello there, and yes, a beetroot, ginger, carrot mix sounds divine").
Room was clean and decent size. The pool area is lovely. The ferry boat that takes you across the river is very convenient, and, the drivers let kids "drive."
The hotel was quiet (except for the weddings and Loy Krathong celebrations - you couldn't hear them in the guest rooms).
Very helpful business center and concierge. Would return in a heartbeat.

Hi Fellow Thailand travellers, a little info on this hotel from a retired couple .
The hotel is very close to being perfect- price is very fair (booked via Travel Bag, CHEAPEST !! ),circa £269 inc breakfast, which has quite an unbelievable selection and is the absolute "nuts"!!!.
The room we booked was a garden view ,very upmarket interior ,not the greatest of views but .not in anyway unpleasant. When one is out most of the time its not really worth spending more money for river views. Food on offer is not cheap but very high quality, try Traders Vic , very nice ,
The only negative points which are minor, the corridors are a little dark, also we got lost several times as the layout is a little difficult to understand but you get used to it after a couple of days..
Prices for spa are simply a joke circa £70 for a flash massage, such a shame they charge so much , it is verging on being a little greedy , you can get it anywhere for £5-6, and almost the same, also drinks are fairly steep too, but the odd few are acceptable. (but do go to the new State Tower with the Gold Dome , you ask for 64th floor where you can see for 100miles ,the view is UNREAL!! like looking out the window of a jet , rather frightening but well worth the experience + the £20 for 2 G & T's !! )
The pool area is super, do look out for the resident monitor lizards ,one approx. 4-5ft long ,comes out of the ponds that skirt the pool area - quite harmless !
The greenery and flowers are also nice with all the grounds well kept, the service also is top notch.
Try the evening dinner on the hotels converted rice barge , 6 course menu, very enjoyable for 1600bts each - do it ,an experience.
As with previous visits to Bangkok its totally "MANIC", thus the Anantara is away from it all but with easy to access the sky train, shopping areas, river city, Asiatique new market across the river, etc via the free hotel shuttle boat.
Summery ,would I book this hotel again - a resounding YES !! Well done AnantaraRiverside !!
PS we also stayed at the Anantara in Hua-Hin also similar quality - try it you won't be sorry .
Happy Holiday's !!

Room Tip: All rooms are good value, maybe a room with evening sunshine is a good bet.
