When you experience something as good as this it's hard not to rave but Anantara Bangkok Riverside has it all! wonderful, wonderful staff, and an atmosphere that embraces all that a really good holiday requires. We have stayed in many hotels over the 18 years that we've been going to Bangkok and although we are a little further away from the centre of business, we think the slight inconvenience is well worth it. We will always try and stay at Anantara Bangkok Riverside in the future and enjoy the wonderful food and pool and peace and quiet that the river location provides. Can thoroughly recommend it! In October, my family and I spent 3 glorious days at the Anantara Riverside. We all agreed that our experience was akin to being in someone's home, The graciousness of the management and staff were exceptional.
I would recommend Anantara Riverside, Bangkok to anyone who would like a "home away from home"!! We will certainly return next year!

We have been staying at this hotel on and off for maybe 15 years. We are very pleased to see that all of the traditions and fine services have been maintained since changing from a Marriott Hotel to an Anantara Hotel.
The staff cannot be nicer, the facilities are fantastic (including the best pool in BKK and maybe all of Asia), the breakfast are superb, the bakery excellent, the boat service efficient (and now includes stops in the evening at Asiatique, the new night market across the river) and the views of the busy river very fun to watch.
I cannot give this hotel a rating higher than 12 on a 10 scale.
We will continue to make this our first stop for years to come when traveling in BKK.

I totally disagree with Wala69's comments. The new uniforms are crisp and very thai. The old ones had gotten a bit tattered we had noticed on our last visit in nov, 2011.

I should also say that we consider this hotel a real oasis in the madness that is bangkok

Room Tip: we prefer the main central building, but all are convenient and comfortable.

Since the Anantara has left its former hotel chain alliance it has lost a lot of its flair.
The employees now wear more business like clothing when in the past you had the nice, local feeling when you arrived.
We got upgraded to a room which actually was a downgrade for us as the room was smaller and has not been cleaned in days. We had dead flies on the bed, the bathroom and one every window board. The bathroom was so small that there was no way to fit two people in at the same time. The same with the sink. It was so small that washing your hands became a challenge.
We asked to be downgraded again which gave us a much nicer and bigger room with a nicer view.
The staff was still nice and friendly but no comparison to our earlier visits.
The breakfast buffet was changed as well but still had the nice and fresh feeling to it and was very tasty. Internet was free during our stay.
The main reason for the drop from a 5 Star to a 2 Star review was the feeling you get when you are there. It is more distant, colder and just plain business like.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review on our resort. I am so sorry to read your review since it is completely the opposite of what we strive for with our team on a daily basis. We have clearly let you down on this occassion and we do apologize sincerely for this.
I personally wish we could get in touch to talk about this further and so I could apologize in person or by phone which is much nicer than by email. I hope you would give me that chance and my email is cpronk@anantara.com

Warm regards,

We chose this hotel based on the reviews from fellow tripadvisors. The hotel has a charming colonial feel about it but is certainly 21st century in it's facilities. The gardens are exquisite and offer an escape from the frenzy of the city. It is so local to everything that Bangkok offers but it tucked away in it's own little haven. We chose a river view deluxe room located on the 4th floor. I did feel that the rooms could be updated in decor but to be fair they do mirror the colonial style with beautiful teak floors and dark wooden furniture. Beds were exceedingly comfortable and the bathrooms first class. The hotels showcases some fabulous works of art and antique artifacts which were a pleasure to look at. The restaurants were fabulous and could compete with any world class hotels. The peanuts/cashews that they serve with early evening drinks were so delicious flavoured with kaffir lime leaves and chilli that they deserve a special mention. The staff, as in every hotel in Thailand, were gracious and courteous but I did notice that many did not speak very good English and service was sometimes a little slow. This had been noted by a few other tripadvisor contributors. It was good, however,to see the hotel managers making contact with the guests throughout the day. The hotel organised two trips for us and our guides were absolute experts and made our days thoroughly enjoyable.
We had a late plane leaving Bangkok and the hotel allowed us extra hours in our rooms so that we could change before leaving for the airport. We will certainly use the hotel again.

Room Tip: Always something to look at from a River View room.

I stayed in the hotel for 2night (4-6Nov room# 587) for business stay, i find the overall stay expereince is good except the room location vs my reservation.

Room: room is very clean and full of amanities you will need, i liked the design and clean, except 3 giant spider webs behind the room doors (will attach pic later).
Room service: food variaty and quality is very good
Location: the hotel design and facilities are very nice, also the shuttle boat that help you reach the BTS station. Location is great for couples and relaxing vacation but not the best for business.
Business center: good and available
GHA: i reserved a room type that is from premium river view, but i was given a side corner room with no view, so be carefull

Overall: stay is good and i recommend for couples and family, but location is not the best if you want to go alot for the city center

This was our 4th visit to this hotel and although it has changed names it is just as lovely as we remember it. The entrance is Thai chic at its best. In fact we took ideas from it when we decorated our lounge! We were upgraded to the garden wing which was fabulous, the beds were so comfy. Cafe Uno has the best cakes ever. The rice barge provided by the hotel takes you to the Sky Train so you can have the peace and tranquility by the river but are only 15 mins by boat which is a relaxing way to get to the city centre. There is a shopping centre attached to the hotel linked by the ground and first floor entrances. Somebody did mention the shopping centre is going to be knocked down and rebuilt? On the ground floor there is a lovely stall near the hotel entrance where a very nice man has silk flowers ( tulip shape) at a bargain 10baht each. Took bunches home as presents. He also sells cushion covers, table runners, table mats etc all made from silky material that are very reasonable and make great presents.

Room Tip: Rooms in the garden wing are lovely. Ultra chic.
