“Lovely stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Anantara for a week recently. On learning that it was our anniversary the ladies at the front desk upgraded our room to a Junior Suite, and we came back to our room one afternoon to find it strewn with rose petals and a cake waiting for us. So cute! The hotel itself seemed very empty, which suited us. Although it's quite a distance from the touristy parts of Bangkok we thought this was more a bonus than anything else, lounging by the pool surrounded by gardens you feel like you're on an island rather than the middle of Bangkok. The restaurants are great, and if you want something different there are more places to eat just a short boat ride away at the Asiatique Riverfront.

The only thing that took away from the stay was a few disparaging remarks from two male members of staff, who were quite openly leery of me whenever I was without my husband. As the other staff members were so unfailingly lovely and I was hardy dressed inappropriately it was a bit surprising, but I never felt unsafe, only a bit annoyed.

Don't let that discourage you though, it's a great hotel with excellent attention to detail. Definitely recommended.

Probably the best hotel to stay in if you are coming with kids, the pool area is unrivalled anywhere in Bangkok and with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff along with some of the best surroundings it's hard to argue against staying here. The boat service drops you on the cusp of the action and from there you can take the sky train, taxi or tuk tuk to explore vibrant Bangkok. Just take note that whilst the Peninsula and Mandarin are better still, they are a little stuffy, require a dress code and children are to be seen and not heard (the last part I should point out is how the visiting clientele feel rather than the hotel itself). So, in summary this is a great hotel, the best if you are visiting with your kids.

Lovely hotel situated on the Chao Phraya river. It also had it's own boat to take you to the Cental Pier where you could get the Skytrain, or straight across the river to Asiatique, an eclectic mix of restaurants and shops.
The hotel staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was a river view room and was well situated for both pool and river views. The bars and restaurants were well worth trying and the food was excellent.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great location and a relaxed stay.

Our family just spent a wonderful, 9-day vacation at the Anantara. The hotel is situated in a lush garden, by the river. When you are at the pool, you have no idea of the hassle going on in the city. The staff is very helpful and nice. The poolboys and the poolbar attendants just absolutely wonderful.
At the moment, the rooms in the South wing are the renovated ones, so be sure to get a room there. If you pay for a river view, keep in mind that the river is actually only visible from floors 6 and 7. We had a room in floor 5 -which was okay, but the view a bit obstructed by the trees. But a river view is always better than the other side- then you may end up having a view to somebodys junkyard:) The restaurants are many, but they areaa bit pricey,at least according to Bangkok's standards. There is a small shopping center behind the hotel( drugstore, McD, Sizzler, Swensens, etc) but it will be pulled down in January. A new complex will be built eventually. Try to get the breakfast included in the price, it is very nice.
A boat shuttle will take you to Saphan Taksin skytrain station every half hour and in the evenings, it stops by Asiatique, a new place close by, with over 40 restaurants and lots of shops! A nice place to go to, with or without kids.

Room Tip: Upper floor, at least floor 5 or up. I would pay extra for the river view so that I would not have t...

Great hotel, they really do think of everything you might want. It is in a cool location on the river with a free riverboat to a central skytrain station. They have a onsite travel guide who will arrange what you want (without trying to sell you all the extras you don't want). The pool and on site restaurants are great if you don't want to head out for dinner. Our room was upgraded to a suite which was stunning so thank you Anantara. We will definitely stay here again when in Bangkok.

This Hotel, previously The Marriott Riverside Resort & Spa, has everything you require for a pampered holiday in the Tropics. There are approximately 5 restaurants, a day spa, gym and amazing pool with swim up bar set in amoungst beautiful gardens. A hotel shuttle boat runs regularly to transport you to the BTS skytrain which takes you to many shopping destinations plus the airport. The rooms are lovely and in keeping with Thai furniture and architecture. The staff are friendly, and seem to remember us from previous stays. You won't get a better breakfast with as much variety anywhere in the world! I cannot write highly enough of this beautiful hotel!!! Five star luxury at its finest!!!!

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the pool.

Have you ever had the feeling of chasing a distant memory as it's only a dream? I did, but the dream became a reality. In the year 1975 I went to Thailand and became spellbound by the country and it's gentle people. In Bangkok I stayed in one of three top hotels at the time. The stay in Anantara Riverside Hotel exceeded my lovely memory and left me with an even greater memory. For your great Siam experience I suggest you choose the Anantara Riverside Hotel, it will give you a great feeling for a lifetime.

Room Tip: I got a room facing the river and it was breathtaking.
