I was walking about and saw the live entertainment and decided to stay for some wine and duck. The duck leg was fantastic. It is truly a delicacy that is not available at a standard restaurant in the US. The hotel lobby seemed very clean along with the restrooms. I will remember this place the next time I return to Bangkok on business.

Our 10th visit and still enjoying it so much .Everything was amazing , the apartment , service , location - what more !!!
Special mention must be made of Pornthip at the reception. She was outstanding. We also briefly met the GM Mr Charles Wrightman and realized why the hotel is so successful. Totally recommended for a great stay away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Sukumvit area but still surrounded by high class restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the sensational Lumpini park.

We booked this hotel for 1 night as it was my birthday and our anniversary and we had a reservation at the Gaggan restaurant across the road for that night. The hotel is a fantastic location so we arrived happy. Unfortunately, it all went down hill from there.

We are a same-sex couple and had booked a studio room with king bed. The receptionist advised during check in that they had upgraded us to a suite. FANTASTIC we thought... however when we got into the suite we saw that there were 2 small, single beds and not the king bed we had booked. This is not what we wanted for what was meant to be a special occasion so I called from the room and advised that we require a king bed in our room. The first lady I spoke to was immediately annoyed at this request and asked me to repeat 3 times. She then stopped talking as if to try and hand off the phone to someone else. Someone else eventually came on the line and I had to explain again that we require a king bed and not 2 singles. At this point it was getting embarrassing. The 2nd lady also seemed annoyed at this and just kept explaining that they had upgraded us rather than listening to me. She just couldn't quite believe that 2 females would want to share a bed. Eventually the conversation was concluded by her sternly telling me "If you INSIST on having 1 big bed then you will have to go to a small room with no kitchen". She said it as if it was a punishment. Considering that was what we had booked originally I said that's fine and we went back down to reception to pick the new key. The receptionists seemed annoyed by us and we both just felt really embarrassed. This was not the way we were hoping we would spend the start of our anniversary and my birthday celebrations.

In short, the customer service was terrible and I don't believe this hotel takes into consideration same-sex couples exist and travel.

The final straw was when we rang up room service to request some extra drinking water be sent up to the room and a lady sounded annoyed and just put the phone down on us. We didn't know whether it was actually going to be sent up or not but eventually it arrived.

Finally, the rain shower in our bathroom only output cold water. A cold shower to end a terribly stay.

We hope The Dutchess can take into consideration that same-sex couples do exist and do travel and they shouldn't be shocked and annoyed when we ask NOT to be put in a "twin" room with small single beds.

One of my roles as a manager of Golf Tours Abroad is to constantly check out hotels & resorts to offer clients a variety of accommodation options throughout our international golf destinations. I was delighted to spend a couple of nights at the Duchess Hotel & Residences and would recommend it to any of my 4 & 5-Star-seeking clients. Different aspects are important to different travellers, but for me there are some key musts to satisfy my requirements. Friendly & attentive staff, clean and well-appointed rooms, location and good food. The Duchess ticks all of those boxes for me. The staff rated highly in my opinion and that really helps for a memorable stay. They were neatly attired, well groomed and always keen to assist with a smile. The rooms are very spacious and I would deem them suites as they have a large living area separate to the bedroom. The king-size bed was matched by a large bedroom that I'm guessing was 25 square metres easily. The adjacent bathroom was also huge with enclosed shower and a separate bath. Oh I almost forgot to mention the kitchen is handy if you want to eat in or reheat any of the marvellous street food that's in plentiful supply. The downstairs restaurant and bar is a cosy environment and local musicians played on the Friday & Saturday nights I was here. Whilst I didn't get through the entire menu, I was very happy with my Green Chicken Curry, Spicy Chicken Wings and Pad Thai. There were also western dishes on the menu such as lamb rack & pasta which I will have to sample next time I stay here. The morning buffet is tailored to an audience seeking Asian and western fare and I won't be forgetting the delicious Red Curry Duck or Crispy Fish Fillets in a hurry as they were delicious. In terms of location, the Duchess is in the heart of the CBD and within an easy walk (600m) of the Chit Lom Sky Train Station - giving you access to much of Bangkok's key areas. For me, the relaxed environs of a serviced apartment stay has everything I need and I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

Great location. Located in central Bangkok in the street that is packed with restaurants. Walkable to the BTS skytrain. The room is spacious and clean with full amenities. Breakfast buffet selection is decent.
