“Awful hotel in the inside!!!”
Reviewed July 20, 2007

It looked okay, when we arrived, but it toke 45 min. at the recepetioncounter before we could get our rooms

We were 7 persons, 2 of them were smokers, so they had to stay on a different floor. So our party were diveded in 3 rooms on the 10th and 11th floor.
The staff had poor communications skills through out our stay for 4 days. They called everyday to hear if we had another voucher to confire our stay and everytime I had run down to show them the remaning vocuher, and they found out they already had what they needed

They worst experince was the minibar. The drank a Fanta that had experired december 2005, and found several others cans that were to old. One can experired june 2004. Nice :-)
I had to complaine 3 times before they changed the minibar and the 2 rooms that we were staying had also cans ans beers that were 1-2 years to old
In all the time the staff said that a mnager would contact me about the problems, but he/she never did contacted me or the rest of my family.
When we finally checked out 4 days later, the staff agin requested the missing voucher that thay already had confirmed 3 times that they had. And wanted me to pay a feefor late check out. The "missing" voucher confirmed that we the rooms one more day, and had paid for these. But it still took them 15 min. to find the voucher

So please: If you want a great stay in Bangkok, don't stay in the Sofitel Central Plaza Bangkok

Sofitel is an old hotel, but the staff there are really helpful and nice. There is a shopping mall located next to it and the BTS and MRT stations are close by (about 15 minutes walk).

The room is old and still requires a physical key to get past the wooden door. It is however, well maintained. There is not much of a view from the hotel, but it is really close to the weekend market at Chatuchak. In fact, the hotel provides a shuttle service that will take you to chatuchak market (check with the concierge for the schedule).

The international breakfast is delicious and prepares you well for the day ahead.

The only downside of the hotel is the location. It is a distance from the city. Getting to and fro may pose to be a problem during peak period. It is however close to the airport (about 20-30mins on a cab).

At about S$140 a night, it is value for money.

We stayed in the hotel for a few nights in Bangkok before going to the South of Thailand. We booked this hotel because of the price, we knew that it was not right in the city but the price was under half that the city hotels were so it was good for us. The trip from the airport and back were easy and quick with the express ways and into the heart of Bangkok took ten minutes at the most if you wanted to get a cab. You could also get the Sky train just around the corner we did this a few time and its easy and cheap.
The hotel is absolutely fine it does not try and sell itself as a five star because its not but we found it clean perfect for the time we spent in it. the staff were as helpful as we needed them to be and I have to say nothing jumped out to say how good the place was but nothing jumped out to say how bad it was either. All in all we got what we paid for....a good deal and a great few days in the city.

I booked this hotel on wotif.com.au and was most impressed with the value for money it represented.
For AU$ 135 , we stayed i n a Club Dynasty room, which gave us free afternoon tea, snacks and drinks in the evening, internet access at no charge in the club lounge,a free dinner at the thai restaurant, which was delicious, and express check in.
The hotel is a little out of the way, but with taxi fares around 100 baht or less to Siam Paragon and River City and Lumphini Park markets, and the train access through Central Department Store complex,it truly represents great value.
The club rooms are accessed via a lift key and so are extra secure. The bathroom was large, but the shower was over the bath as many older hotels are.A sofa in front of the tv was very handy with also a coffee table we used to view dvds we had bought in the markets.
Overall, excellent value for money with these club priveleges.

This hotel is a excellent hotel given price/quality, somewhat outside the Bangkok City Center.

Check-in was fast, they have knowledge about the area. The service of all employees is great, they really go out of their way to assist you whatever query you might have.

Rooms are spacious. They service the rooms a few times a day, so it is best to place "Do not disturb" on your doorknob whenever you are in.

There is a small fitness room, the equipment looks a bit outdated. The swimming pool is situated on the lower level; it is a nice swimming pool, but be aware that is near the highway. The sound isn't that loud, but it isn't quiet.

For dinner you can have several choices within the hotel. Prices are "Western" based, so don't expect Bangkok-style prices.

Overall, this is a good hotel to stay at and to explore Bangkok.

Recently stayed at the hotel for 3d2n through a package deal with Air Asia. While the hotel was quite a distance from the new airport, the taxi ride there was without fuss due to the expressways. Check-in was not without problems as the hotel messed up our reservations but the staff was kind enough to let us check in while they sorted out the mess with Air Asia.

The hotel itself looked a little tired from the outside but the interior is superb. The room was very comfortable and clean, although the decor could do with a little updating. Getting a taxi from the hotel to town was easy enough and if you want little fuss in returning to the hotel, ask the taxi driver to take the toll-expressway (which will require you to pay for the toll - approx. THB60) instead of the old city streets.

The breakfast buffet was very good and service was efficient and friendly. Pool area was very clean and while a little small for a hotel this size, it offered a quiet retreat from hustle and bustle of Bangkok.

A bonus for the hotel is the easy access to Central Shopping Complex which is just next door (a short walk through the carpark from the mezzanine floor of the hotel). Very useful for some last minute shopping.
