“Stay Jolly @Holiday Inn Bangkok”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

Checked-in at Holiday Inn Bangkok as a Stay Jolly Campaign winner in early June 2012. Upon checking-in, I was warmly welcomed with welcome drink and greeted by hotel staffs. Ms.Juthamas, who had been handling my reservations, met me on arrival and informed that the room has been upgraded to a Superior room, and then she guided me to the room on floor 15 of the North Wing which was at the back and no noise from streets.
The Superior room was spacious with just perfect lighting. A tropical fruit tray with a welcome card from the Hotel Manager was placed on a coffee table by a comfortable armchair. The bed was big and comfy. There were two types of pillow suits your preference, firm or soft. I used both of them at the same time! Bathroom was nice and filled with all toiletries you may need. There was no bathtub in this room, only a shower cubicle. There was also a safety box, an ironing board with an ironing machine in the closet! Electric pot, tea & coffee sets were provided in room. I quite like this room for its size and livable touch.
Breakfast at Café G on ground floor with the busy Ploen Chit Road view outside was nice (we – on holiday, they - work!). Breakfast was nice, with many styles and choices to choose from western to oriental to Thai. The wait staffs were friendly and attentive. One morning I had asked for hot tea and was served, but found out later that Japanese green tea was also available. A young lady wait staff later offers me a pot of hot green tea as she remembered my preference. That was really nice! I thanked her for such a nice service but feel sorry that I didn’t ask for her name. Café G is also famous for their dinner buffet at a very reasonable price, which I would recommend to family or a group of friends. I have not tried the other restaurants in the hotel though.
My friend and I spent a warm afternoon tanning and swimming at the lovely swimming pool. There was a lifeguard attending the pool for your safety. The gym was located downstairs and equipped with quite a few machines but didn’t use it.
The hotel is located next to Intercontinental Hotel where there was connecting corridor to Gaysorn Plaza and Skywalk linked to Central Chitlom, Central World Plaza & Siam Paragon. BTS Sky Train Chitlom station is right in front of the hotel, so it is convenient to get around town. I think the nearest 7-Eleven would be about 10mins walk in Soi Langsuan or else you can find MaxValu Tanjai just cross the road on basement of The Erawan. Big C Super Center is also only 5mins away via Gaysorn Plaza and pass Arnoma Hotel.
Ploen Chit Road right in front of the hotel is sort of one-way towards Ratchaprasong intersection, with one lane allowed towards Wireless Road and for Expressway toll only. The road could be quite busy and traffic could be jam throughout the day, so if you’re not familiarized with traffic in Bangkok then it’s best to get some advises and plan your direction of travel before getting on a taxi.
Overall I would definitely recommend Holiday Inn Bangkok for their convenient location, reasonable room rates, and friendly services.

This is our fourth time at Holiday Inn Ploenchit. We have always liked the excellent customer services provided by the smiling staff and the location is a short walk away from the busy Central Mall and the night markets of Pratunam.

As usual, we chose to stay at the Kidsuite as it accommodates our family of four nicely. The two bedrooms came with a bunk bed and a queen bed. The kids love the playstation and TV in their room.

Like most 4 star hotels, the bathroom supplies are pretty standard, choice of pillows are available, daily English newspapers are provided, and bedding are all comfortable and clean.

The food at the restaurants are good and given that Holiday Inn adjoins to Intercontinental Bangkok, guests can also dine at Intercontinental Bangkok.

The swimming pool is fine for a dip but there is nothing to rave about it. Do not expect infinity pool with a view. ☺ But it does the job to keep us cool on a hot humid day!

I however would like to point out that the room does look a bit tired – just a teeny weeny bit. But then again, seeing how the doormen would rush to get the door for us each and everytime, I cannot complain! The doormen and porters are always smiling and greeting us politely. The best I have seen.

In summary, a good 4 star hotel that ticks all the boxes.

I stayed in this hotel 2 times during my trip around Thailand in April 2012. The transfer is great - cold fresh water, clean napkins and morning news-papers in the car! The check in was so quick and nice. Obviously the people who work in the hotel are so kind and helpful that you can only dream about it! As I was pressed for time and wanted to see as much as possible the concierge provided me with all necessary iformation about the city and places of interest. The laundry service is also great - the cover for my suitcase was broken off and these wonderful people sewed it up)))! Thank you to all! Liudmila

We stayed in two rooms for three nights as a family. We choose the Holiday Inn because of its great location near all the Pathumwan shopping, the Erawan shrine and easy access to all corners of the city. The location is top notch, identical to the InterContinental and the Grand Hyatt Erawan. Yet, the value is much better. The rooms are spacious, clean, well appointed. The staff from Reception, to Concierge, over Housekeeping and at the Coffeeshop are friendly, helpful and efficient. I used to stay at the Grand Hyatt Erawan which was fully booked for the period, but from now I will choose the Holiday Inn. The only downside was at the Charm Thai restaurant where staffing numbers were inadequate on a Saturday night to serve a fully booked restaurant resulting in long waits (see a separate review).

Room Tip: Ask for the new wing - it's new and quite - and even numbered room which still has a bit of a vi...

It's in the middle of the shopping strip. You get shopping malls left, right and across the road. Not only that, you get vendors lining the streets and lanes. In other words, you're right in the middle of Bangkok's famous shopping scene! You get the high end brands like LV and Jimmy Choo in the mall and the 30 baht t-shirts (I know, unbelievable!!!) from the street vendors. All these within walking distance of the hotel.

Service was great too. Most of the hotel staff were wonderfully helpful and friendly but the staff at the breakfast restaurant were simply outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble and they even try to anticipate the diner's wish. Yet, I never find them intrusive. They materialise when they think you need something, then fade back into the background to let you enjoy your meal. I find it interesting that there is an interpreter at the egg-cooking section just to make sure the chef understands your instruction. Breakfast was typical hotel fare. Decent but nothing to shout about. But the good service made it an enjoyable meal. Definitely, will return and will recommend. Now, if only they serve fresh fruit juices instead of the canned type, I'll sing their praises like there's no tomorrow!

Ok, ok, I forgot to mention the room. Decent size, very clean, good shower power (really appreciate the handheld and rain shower) and my favourite feature (after the service of course), has to be the free Internet and wifi service throughout the hotel!!!!! For this alone I will give it all the stars! Many top rated hotels actually try to make money from the Internet service. What a shame. They charge a bomb for an hour of Internet use. Holiday Inn Bangkok gives it to you free!! What a great deal!!! Go book this hotel today ;-D!!!

Room Tip: Ask for the new wing. Rooms are bigger there.

We have been visited Bangkok for a few times and stayed at different hotels but this is the best hotel we stayed till now. The location is very great as convenient to BTS, shopping malls and supermarket. Excellent service, staff very helpful. Only weak points is wifi too expensive at room but is free at lounge and restaurant. Breakfast is fair but below expectation comparing with the room price. Overall, very good hotel and we would make it a best option when next trip to Bangkok.

Room Tip: Wifi is free at lobby, pool and restaurants. Hotel buffet dinner is only at 249bahts++/person which i...

Spent 4 nights here on a business trip. Well organised, very helpful and friendly staff. Good restaurants ESP the Thai restaurant. Excellent conference facilities. The pool was uninspiring, small and overlooked by the inside of the hotel, and without a view. The rooms are basic in design, but well furnished and comfortable. The main advantage is e central location, right next to the shopping centre.
