My partner and I would definitely recommend Korbua house as the best place to stay in Bangkok. Sure you can get cheaper but in our experience it is so worth spending a little more to enjoy a room with beautiful hand painted niches above the bed, stained glass door leading to the shower and the most amazing big shower with a massive shower head!
Great location right next to the canal (can be a little stinky though), a lovely little seated area with magazines and local eateries on the door step not to mention Khaosan Rd only a few blocks walk. Pretty quiet as long as you aren't near the parking lot with many dogs or the elevator.
Staff were very friendly and helpful with the service desk manned 24 hours. I recommend booking through the agoda website, cheaper than dealing with them directly and we got upgraded to an executive suite for a night which was quite a treat! This is the only place we will be staying from now on when we visit Bangkok.

Started an Indochina trip in Bangkok in mid-December. This hotel was everything we were hoping for. As predicted, the cab driver had a little trouble finding the place, but he made a quick call to the hotel and got us there without delay. The room was very clean with a nice view of a canal (saw fish and one crocodile). My wife and I loved having to stroll down the alleyway to reach the hotel. It was full of authentic Thai life! Lots of bars and restaurants were just a short walk away.

Beers at the hotel bar were cheap, the room was quiet and the staff very attentive to all our needs. One evening I enjoyed the massage parlor next door to the hotel.

We posted a video of the hotel on our photography travel site quickadventures.net

Room tip: The canal view is a must.

This hotel is located at the end of a quiet alley. It is located within walking distance of several Wats and Khao San Road. Our Executive room was quite spacious and overlooked the canal. The bathroom was very nice and we even had hot water. Tuk tuk's & Taxi's are abundant, so transportation is not a problem. Lots of food vendors in the alley!

Room tip: This hotel was a very good value. Fairly new and very clean. Only drawback was the staff did not know much English.

This place is very nice and quiet! Just looks like the pics as shown. We stayed there for 5 nights. It is very convenient. Only take around 5 min to walk to the Khao San road and 10-15 min to the boat stops. We took the SA City line(blue line) from the airport to the last stop(45 THB per person) and took a meter taxi(Around 80-100 THB). It takes around 1 hour if the driver knows the address. I will stay here again since this place is quiet, clean, cheap, and convenient!
