“Casual dining near Patpong”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

Opposite the Le Meridien hotel, downstairs in a small shopping centre, and not overly easy to find, but a good option in the madness of Patpong.

The Oasis Lounge really is styled like a diner and is very casual and friendly.

Food is good, service a little mixed though. The food was served randomly, with mains arriving before soup, and around 15 minutes between first and last dishes arriving, and the promised bowl never did arrive. Good quality cooking, with highlights being Beef curry with peanuts (Massman), orange curry served in a pineapple, and shrimp salad with lemongrass and mint.

The Canadian owner Rob is friendly and is probably the main reason for the popularity of the Oasis. Although the food is good, set your expectations that this is a casual diner. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Patpong area, but probably not special enough to cross town for (as we had).

We over-ordered, having not eaten all day, and had 3 beers each, and the bill for 2 was 1750 baht (approx £40).

“Excellent all round.”

Well run Thai/American diner.

The Diner is just a little difficult to find as its below eye level from the street outside. On entering you are surprised to find an American type diner decor .The tables are neat and the place is well lit and very clean.

We had just arrived in Bangkok and we went to the Oasis on the strength of the reviews on Tripadvisor.

We entered the gaff to be seated quickly with a traditional Thai smile by the staff. Our waiter (an American) was quick to see that we were fearful of using ice in the kids drinks and there was some pensiveness with my kids with regards to having some Thai food. He quickly put us at ease.

We all has some Thai food, it was exceptional and well presented.

The meal was pricier than that of other meals we had in our two weeks in Thailand, but the personal service and was worth every penny.

“Soo Good! Amazing THAI food.”

I could not make a decision of what to order, so Robert the owner recommended a delicious calamari for a starter and a curry chicken dish with rice. It had a real nice kick with spice which is why i love thai food and you can pick the different levels of how spicy you want it, To top it off i asked him to surprise me with a drink, which went perfect with my meal, Great way to end/ or start your night in the fun city of Bangkok. I will be back, Thanks Robert

“Food is good/a bit overpriced, but the advice is priceless”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

We went here on our only night in BKK. we wanted to visit patpong and we went to Oasis lounge to enjoy some authentic Thai food. The orange curry (comes in a pineapple) was delicious but the rest of our meal was just ok. As we ate more authentic thai throughout the rest of my trip, we realized this was not our favorite meal. I did feel Oasis is overpriced compared to many other similar restaurants for curry dishes, etc. Also, it is all travelers/tourists there. Not a local place at all, if that is what you're going for.

However, with the price we got really really good advice about visiting pat pong and where we could go. Rob spent time explaining where is safe and had someone come and escort us over to our next location. He is extremely friendly and we appreciated his help immensely, and probably wouldn't have been so daring without his advice.
