“Place is falling apart”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

I had been to the Maple Hotel for a couple of work get togethers. It seemed really nice. While my wife and I were moving out of the area, we decided to stay there as it was close and seemed like a good place to gather for our trip. We were very disappointed.

1. The internet is horrible. It would connect, work for a couple minutes, then disconnect. All the while, it would show full signal strength. You just couldn't use it. When I complained, they said, "Many people are using it now." This was a midnight. The internet worked great in the lobby, so you had the choice of staying in the lobby or having terrible service in your room. I asked why they didn't move some of the signal strength upstairs, and they just smiled and said "Okay I tell IT." Yeah.
2. The building is decaying. The shower left water all over the bathroom (door and floor weren't sealed). The toilet barely flushed. The sink was stopped up and took minutes to empty.
3. Food in the buffet was exactly the same every day. Not a single change. After 5 days, that got really old.
4. There is only one restaurant nearby. Otherwise, you're in a taxi.

They have spent a lot of money on the orange decor of the place. They have not spent any money on the infrastructure.

Their target audience seems to be large tour groups, who must enjoy the discounted rates they get. There were swarms of tour groups, with big buses parked outside every day. It was maddening trying to work your way through these massive groups. They were always assembling in the lobby, showing and holding signs and shouting into megaphones. When some were on your floor, you're hear them shouting and running around. Not great when they got going in the morning.

One of the reasons we chose the Maple was because it was smallish and out of the way. We thought that this would make it a nice, peaceful place for us to stay. We were sadly disappointed.

I'm very disappointed in the Maple Hotel, and won't be back.

I stayed in the Maple Hotel for 12 nights, January 2013.

As a whole the hotel was okay, but there some major shortcomings which would mean that on a return trip I will find somewhere else to stay.

The room was very comfortable, except as one other reviewer wrote the air-conditioning unit blows directly at the pillows of the bed, and so you can end up very cold at night .. I found that if I changed the mode of the air-conditioner, to just recycle the air without cooling, and turning off the tilt and swivel functions I could get quite comfortable.

I chose this particular hotel because it has a pool (displayed prominently on their booking page) ... and because I knew the person I was visiting would be busy for 3 days, I was looking forward to sitting by it and reading. Oh how wrong could I be!
... Firstly, the pool (while it looked clean enough) had various items (old rubber from goggles etc) sitting on the bottom of it so it was obviously not cleaned regularly since they were still there on the day I left.
... Secondly, several of the tiles in the pool were broken and lying there ready to cut feet, stub toes etc.
... Thirdly, one of the lights was obviously broken, and the cable from it (wrapped in insulating tape) was lying along the bottom of the pool.

These things I reported to the reception desk on my second day, and I was told that they would be dealt with, and I'd be informed when the pool was available again .. it never was.

Further ... while the pool was out of action, I would have been happy to sit on the sun terrace and read a book ... so I asked for a sun umbrella, because there were stands on teh terrace, but no parasols. I was informed that they didn't have any ... so sitting out in the sun (even with factor 50 sun cream) was limited to 30 mins at most.

The food was mediocre .. not particularly bad, but not particularly good either. Breakfast was suppoesed to be served until 10am ... but the staff started packing it away from around 09:45 ... on morning I was looking for breakfast cereal, and when asked I was told that it wasn't available, a few minutes later I went to get a cup of coffee only to find it had also been cleared up. I am not proud of myself, but at that point I got quite angry, and after speaking to the manageress of the restaraunt, the coffee reappeared and the breakfast cereal was brought with an apology.

The Gym is small with modern equipment in good condition, and the air conditioning in there means that a good workout can be done in relative comfort.

The hotel staff were friendly, courteous and for the most part very helpful.

The Maple Hotel has the potential to be excellent however, sadly, it failed to deliver and, at 2000Baht per night, I won't be returning to find out if it may have improved.

Room Tip: The room was the best part ... switch the air-con to "fan only, no cooling" at night.

The room is true big, and nicely decorated, but ruined by several major failures. 1. The airconditioning blew directly to the pilow direction. 2. Not able to adjust to "warm water", either very hot or very cold, 3. Hairs remained on the carpet floor, 4. Hardly anyone will take care of you at the morning buffet, 5. Staffs were probably trained for Chinese tours, don't expect any service mind.
Some might said, what you have to complaint with the price you paid? Believe me, I tried other hotels at about the same rate or cheaper, more "comfy".

stayed there for 4 nights and returned 4 days later. The hotel just opened this year, the rooms are big and comfortable. There is free wifi or free acess to a computer in the business center. The breakfast buffet which was included in the price was good but nothing special, the bar in the lobby is hardly used. There is a nice garden restaurant just next door ( Chili La Roni it is called) there we had fantastic food and drinks to a reasonable price.
The hotel has a bitof a "sterile atmosphere, like ther is no life in it. But for this price it is ok. 20 minutes to the airport, and half a hour downtown, if there is no traffic jam.

My husband and I, are in Bangkok for a business trip and were made to stay at Maple for three nights. A very reasonable hotel with great service. The room is spacious and clean.
They include Buffet Breakfast with the room package, which has a decent variety, even for vegetarians. The amenities include Wifi in all rooms, a huge TV besides the regular stuff.

The only drawback is that a portion of the hotel is still under construction, so from 9:00am to 4:00pm u would get disturbed by the sound of drilling! The only mode of transport from here would be to book a taxi i think, since it is not near any bus or train stop.

The restaurant next door, Chili La Roni is a MUST try for those who decide to stay here.

this hotel is great value for money. Its new, the rooms are a good size that will hold 2 adults & 2 kids. Flat screen tv, plenty of toileteries. Comfy beds, twin room has a double & a 3/4 size bed. Restraunt was great, im not buffet person, but this was great value for money. The hotel is in Sri Nakarin, so its a stretch from the cbd, but now the BTS to Banga so no big deal. If you want an Airport Hotel, this is the best value for money you can possibly get. Pool looks good, and they are opening a bar/restraunt on the roof.
1600 baht a night, 350 per person for buffet, maybe the price will increase as they are promoging at the moment, it is excellent value.
I would reccomend this to anyone, and will be back
The service is great, from check in to restraunt staff.
If you want to stay in Sukuhmvit, this maybe is not for you. Being we live in Thailand, that does not interest me, and you will pay top dollar for a room there. This would be a good Novotel standard, so you would pay about 3500-4000 baht equivilent for a hotel of this quality and standard.
As i mentioned i beleive the price is discounted until they get established.
Great work Maple, i give top points.

Well it is new and it is cheap, but those are the only good things. I paid only 1200 baht a night for a week: an unqualified bargain. But if you want an iron to press anything they have neither irons nor ironing boards in the building, if you want to change currency on a Sunday, they cannot do it. Although their sign says their buffet-restaurant is open until 11:00pm, it is often dark by 10:00 (and the food poor). Half of the building is still under construction so expect construction noise during the day. Most taxi drivers have not heard of it and had trouble finding it...well removed from any nearby stores or anywhere at all by foot. It might someday be a respectable property, but right now the staff is friendly but untrained and unprepared for helping guests. I'll not be back soon.

Room Tip: try a different hotel
