I have been to Healthland on and off for 10 years as it has been my go-to place for Thai Massage. It has several locations and the service and techniques have been consistent - make it convenient for travellers who are short with time to explore the millions massage establishment in the cities. I have successfully get a walk in appointment but then I have avoided the peak hours and weekend.
Indeed the masseuses do expect tips and credit card is only accepted for payment over 1000 bhats.
We enjoyed our 2 hour Thai Massage. The therapist seems to really know what our problems are even though their English is not good.
It is located in a big white house - it is literally a big place for massage. Very clean, and calming too.
The registering process is a bit "cold" - we get there, told the receptionist we had reservation, and we were just told to pay money first - no any other explanation. --- It may be due to language barrier. We arrived about 10 minutes early. After we paid money, we were simply told "wait"... not the same as the warm welcome we usually get in other countries.
But, the massage was really good - muscles that have issues were really stretched by strong hands. This being said, the therapist do check with us whether the strength they used were okay, and adjust accordingly based on our feedback, even though their English was limited.
We were served with some nice hot Thai tea afterwords. Price is very reasonable.
If I come back to Bangkok I will visit again.
We stayed at Marriott at The Empire Place, a short walk away from Health Land Sathorn. Tried walking in on our first night there and they only had foot massages available, so we made reservations for another day. Best to make reservations in advance especially in a big group, as their slots fill up quite quickly.
Professional service and we paid upon arrival. Didn’t have any issues with not tipping the masseurs - maybe it depends on the masseur. Reasonably priced for the service you get. Would love to return again!
I was recommended this place by an expat friend. You have to be a little bit patient with the language barrier, but if you are able to do that I guarantee an amazing experience. I booked their suite for a whole evening treatment with my husband and I felt like if I had been put back together again. The therapists were knowledgable and had amazing skills. Would definitely recommend.
Health Land is a beautiful, huge spa that offers reputable massage at a inexpensive price. You could do better on the street but you would not get the quality of this awesome spa. The therapeutic massage for one hour is targeted to two to four sore spots on your body. The people that do this are more medically trained and were able to eliminate quite a bit of pain in my knee, heel, shoulders. It was pretty painful but I felt much better later. The Thai massage I got there could have been stronger, but the foot massage was excellent. As you can tell I went back more than once. My husband, who is a very tall, large man also agreed that the therapeutic massage was the best.
The massage was not too bad (I've had better) and for the price, you'd expect rooms to have a little more peace and quiet. Staff are running around all the time, and soundproofing is quite poor. Then it seems like everyone who talks to you is expecting a tip, giving you "the look" that they ARE expecting tips.
