We have been here a couple if times now. A little bit hard to find but off one of Bangkok's main roads, Sathorn at the Lumpini Park end.

Great atmosphere and ambience in an outdoor garden. The restaurant is one of the old Thai houses.

The good is definitely "(Con)fusion" Thai but very nicely adapted to Western tastes.

Just back from Bangkok, we tried this restaurant under the recommendation of our concierge, from the ambiance to the service to the food, a 5 stars experience all along.Try the massaman curry, it s just a killer, the duck salad was also amazing, and the best are the desserts.Very friendly and good service, and an amazing jungle colonial style in the middle of the noisy city.I will recommend it to everyone.

We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of friends. We had been there before in one of it's previous reincarnations. The building it is housed in is stunningly beautiful in the evening and heightens your anticipation of a good dinner. The approach path is lit by a number of lanterns with candles which add to the atmosphere. The inside dining area has been painted in a deep aqua blue and combined with the interior decor which is a cross between Thai/Moroccan works very well. We ordered the pork spare ribs for a starter and shared it between the two of us. It was divine, although the portion size is so generous it could easily have served four. We then had the lamb massaman (delicious), soft shell crab (disappointing), banana flower and palm heart salad (tasty) and a green vegetable dish (made us feel virtuous!). The portions were on the generous side and we felt we had ordered too much although it was good to have the variety - we asked them to pack up the leftovers to takeaway which they did with no problem. The only issue we had was that the main courses all came immediately after the starter and as that was so filling we did feel a bit rushed through the meal. We will return but ask for them to take more time in serving us. Having said that all the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Admittedly, Issaya is on the pricey side for Bangkok. The atmosphere inside the restaurant and on the garden terrace is quite romantic. The food had good presentation and great flavor. The lamb massaman had sufficient heat while not overpowering the flavor of the meat. Other dishes were not as impressive, but still good. Overall, I would eat here again just for the environment, even if the value for the money is not quite there.

On our last night in Bangkok we reserved this restaurant due to the excellent reviews on tripadvisor, etc. Unfortunately, although Issaya is heralded for it's contribution to gastronomy we were not impressed. Great service, wonderful flavorful cocktails in a beautiful and creative space, but the food was not to our expectations. The barbeque ribs were delicious however, the Yum Hua Plee and lamb curry tasted like the options at the food court at MBK Center. Benefit of the doubt, we probably did not order the right thing but most likely will not be coming here again.
