“Convenient Location, Clean Room”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

Its a very nice small hotel. The room is not big but is comfortable and good enough for 2 persons. Bath room is nice and clean. The hotel is only 2 min from a BTS (elevated light rail transport) station where one can go to all the shopping centres.

The off side is that there is no lift. There is a swimming pool and a pool bar, but its more of a dipping pool. Our room rate did not include breakfast, please check.

Room Tip: As there is no lift, so do ask for ground level or 1st level room.

had put up here for 4 nights at around USD48. as i had travelled separately from my party of four, i had emailed them in advanced informing them that i would not be able to check-in first and they were very flexible in granting my friends the ability to check in as long as they provided the booking confirmation and a photocopy of my passport.

as mentioned, the rooms have no window but were nonetheless clean and spacious enough for two persons. the wifi service is at times inconsistent - the server crashed once while we were there but otherwise its relatively fast. the water from the shower head sprays out similar to that of a sprinkler (quite odd, in my opinion) and thus it especially irritated me as i didnt feel like i was clean thoroughly. the in-room safe was also spoilt in my case and even though we brought this up to the receptionist, there was nothing done about it. the doors are also not very sound proof so we heard the school nearby on tuesday morning at around 8plus and the honks of cars in the dead of the night.

the porters seemed very enthusiastic with their job, always rushing forward to lend a hand when possible while the receptionists could do with better knowledge of bangkok itself. as we had not done much preparation in terms of the itinerary and only listed down places we were interested to visit, they did the bare minimum when we asked for suggestions or opinions. they had also quoted us inaccurate prices for taking a taxi but i guess this is also not their fault as the jams in bangkok are unpredictable.

in addition, we wanted to order room service as we were famished around midnight and thought that their 'all day dining' prices were reasonable. it was however a misrepresentation as the 'all day dining' was only available till 2000 hrs or so we inferred as the receptionist retorted 'only dinner only dinner'. we also requested for a morning call for both rooms but one of the rooms unfortunately did not receive the call and thankfully we had set our own alarms - we were off to catch the floating market.

nonetheless, the location is very prime, approximately 5 minutes away from the Ratchathewi BTS Station, and about 10-15 minutes away from MBK, Pratunam and Platinum. we took a metered taxi to Chinatown and Chatuchak - both cost us around 70 Baht while it cost about 270 baht for my friends to get from Don Mueang to the hotel.

we also ate at Sushi Masa and are really wondering what the hype is really about specifically - we thought that the fish were fresh, that the sushis were prepared on the spot and that the wasabi was really powerful, but other than that, it was nothing fantastic.. anyone knows? nonetheless, we noticed that it enjoyed good patronage almost at every time of the day.

overall, an experience not worth mentioning if not for the location.

This hotel is about two minutes walk away from the nearest BTS station, and it is very convenient.

The room is clean, nice and cozy, only that there is no window - but it is okay as there is no nice view anyway. Our room is located at the highest floor - the third floor but there is no lift, so that is the only flaw but then the walk up to 3rd floor wasn't that bad after all.

The staffs are polite and friendly and they are always at our assistance when we need help.

There is a small pool but didn't try it out.

Worth the price for such hotel at a great location and wonderful service! Wouldn't hesitate to come back here again if I were to go to Bangkok in future.

The rooms were small with no windows which made if quite stuffy. But we were at d ground floor js outside is the pool and we'd always sit there.

Staff at the poolside were extremely helpful, always bringig for us ashtray and giving us a glass of iced water after our long day out.
Whenever they see guests coming to check-in, they would run to the lobby to assist with the luggages.
Even the check-in staf are not as frenly n helpful as them.

Location wise all d tuk tuk dont know where, so u have to tell them to drop u at asia hotel. Just behind

1. The receptionist were monotonous. Not even a smile which I would be appreciated as they are the frontline staff.
2. The bellboys are the only staff over there who's really makes a big different! Though does not quite understand English but their helpful n friendly gesture really makes us a warm welcome.
3. The room we stayed (2ND floor) was clean. Unfortunately no windows.
4. The morning breakfast was too simple and better off buying foods outside the hotel where there r many road stalls.
5. I think the only advantage of this hotel is because it has good location. 12-15mins walk to shopping malls.
IN CONCLUSION, IF I HAD AN OPTION, I WOULD STAYS IN NEARBY HOTELS.

Location:
Accessibility is good. We traveled via the airport train and BTS. About half an hour to 45 mins journey.
The hotel was located about 100m into a small road just in front of Ratchathewi BTS.
Right at the main entrance is the carpark and lobby is a distance (say about 10m) from it.

Service of staff:
Bellboy was very smiley and nice.
Receptionist requested for our passports and credit card to swipe for verification. We didn’t feel quite safe the credit card was already charged upon booking and she was doesn’t seem to understand what we are saying except keep on repeating “for verification only, no charge”

We requested for early check-in if possible, however when we arrived at the hotel at about 11am+, instead of informing us that no rooms are available, the receptionist only let us fill up a small piece of paper with our names and number and luggages. The next moment, our luggages are being kept away by the bellboy. Only when we asked “we can’t check-in yet?” then she replied that no rooms are ready.

Last day, supposed to check out at 12pm. About 5 mins before 12pm, phone rang. Receptionist called and ask what time are we checking out? It’s not even time yet and we are already wearing our shoes!

Room:
Mosquitoes flying about in the room. Not many but at least 2-3. We even found one crushed and dead on our bed one of the days. (Pic provided above)

The room looks modern but do not look close to the details and edges. Seemed like old furnitures being re-furnished into the room. No window in the room and air-con doesn’t seem to respond no matter how we tried to adjust it and we can’t possibly leave the main door open.

Floor is wooden and not carpeted. No room slippers provided.

2 packs of Coffee & Tea each provided but were NEVER refilled throughout the stay. 2 of us stayed for 3 nights and it’s not even enough to last throughout the stay.

Sink is right in front of the door and not in the toilet. Bar soap, shower cap and cotton bud was provided. Shower gel and shampoo was a tiny tub that looks like McDonald’s maple syrup but even smaller.
Toothbrush & toothpaste NOT available.

Toilet door is wooden and has NO lock, you can only close it. Shower area was partitioned by a glass sliding door and water tends to overflow to the toilet area. Only 1 floor towel provided. This is usual for most hotels but this hotel has got sink and toilet separate, so after shower, the floor towel is wet and the sink area somehow will get wet and we can’t use the wet one in the toilet anymore.

Our Bad Experience:
On the 2nd night we accidentally broke a glass while drinking. We quickly grabbed a small towel to clean the mess. To our dismay, the floor was dirty that there were light brownish marks on the towel. We left the towel at the sink as it was late.

Next day, when we came back to the room, we saw an invoice left on our room desk. (Refer to pic above) We were being charged total of 150 baht (50baht for the broken glass and 100baht for the small hand towel).
We broke the glass and will definitely pay for it, but why charge us for the towel? It was caused by the dirty floor and it’s definitely washable.

We went to the reception to clarify and were told by the staff that they are unsure and told us that they will not charge if we can wash the towels ourselves. But we were not told until we asked and by then the towel was already being taken away. The staff is not able to answer further and told us to check with the staff next day during checkout.

At the check-out, receptionist wanted to pay for the damages. We clarified that we will pay for the broken glass but NOT the towel as it is not torn/spoilt, just dirtied. She doesn’t seem to understand and referred us to another middle-aged man who’s at the lobby.

He mentioned that they will not charge us if we had washed the towels ourselves beforehand and insisted that the hand towel was dirty and we had to pay the 100baht. Of course we are not willing to, and he added on that the stains are not washable. In that case, isn’t it right that they show us the physical towel and inform us of the damage before charging us? And at that point, we told them to show us the stains that are not washable and we will pay. But they claimed that the towel has been sent to the factory for washing and is not back yet. Isn’t that contradicting? Not able to wash, charged us and said it’s being sent to the factory.
At the very last, he even said that we do not trust the hotel and it’s no point wasting each other’s time arguing and that we can definitely afford the mere 100baht.
I was fuming hot when I heard this! It’s not a matter of trust or whether we can afford or not but a matter of principle.

As we are rushing for time, we have no choice but to pay, just take it as I’ve dropped a 100baht on the floor and I’ll never ever return. Upon asking, the middle age man introduced himself as the hotel advisor.

Despite this incident, the very first bellboy whom greeted us when we arrived at the hotel, again helped us with our heavy luggages and sheltered us with umbrella to the nearest BTS as it was raining very heavily, which was really heartwarming. His body was already half wet when we bid goodbye. We really felt and appreciated his sincerity and tipped him.

Bottomline:
I've stayed in a 3-star hotel even cheaper than this and their service and room cleanliness is definitely better. This will bw my first and last time with Siam Swana.

Room Tip: Mosquitoes in the level 1 rooms. Soundproofing not good, can hear the sound of heavy rain and vehic...
