In recent years this place has had refurbishments to every room, the furniture is solid and clean, the rooms are a generous size, its clean and its location means for Bangkok it is a fairly quite hotel. Breakfast is available but there are plenty of places to eat just a few metres down many of the lovely quite streets.A 10 minute walk and you are in the heart of banglamphu, democracy monument and the national art gallery are a few more minutes away and wat po about 30 minutes walk. The staff are friendly and I'd go to this place before this area gets developed because this is a slice of how Bangkok used to be.

Room Tip: The rooms downstairs are cooler so you may not need to use the aircon as much

positives - possible to walk to khao san road about 10 min walk, we also walked to the grand palace and wat po from here!! a long walk but do-able. hotel staff very polite and always ready to help.

negatives - the bed was like concrete!! quite a bit of dust in wardrobe and drawers. air con very very loud almost impossible to sleep. loud locals and people shouting in the night not the hotels fault but didnt add to the experience. the bathroom was a wet room so after a shower had wet feet if you went back into the bathroom. its a cheap hotel, but for a little more im sure you can find better. i wouldnt stay here again.

We stayed at the Rajata for three nights in October 2012. We had a room on the ground floor at the back (208). The room was fine, spacious, private facilities, the mattress hard, but in Thailand all the mattresses are hard! The air-conditioning and shower worked and the latter had hot water. The only problem we had was noisy neighbours one night, but the management talked to them as soon as we complained and it was quiet after that. Outside our door was a plant smothered pergola-style corridor, with a table and chairs so we could have had breakfast there or at the front of the hotel in the bar area. There was a good choice of breakfast from muesli and fruit to full American, which looked suspiciously like English, but with a frankfurter rather than a real sausage. The area was great - easy access to the city, but it felt residential - lots of good little cafes and restaurants on the streets just out the back of the hotel, shops, and people cooking on street corners. It's within walking distance of Kao San road if one feels the need for tourist shopping. We hired a local tuktuk driver to take 4 of us on an hour's sightseeing of Bangkok by night for 400 baht ( about £8). It was good fun, though we think he may have been related to Ayrton Senna. There are a couple of decent massage places on the Sol 6, right by the hotel. Some friends used the nearest and we used the next one along and we were all quite happy with the treatment. There was free WiFi. You get a small bottle of water a day per guest, but there is a 7/11 store about three minutes walk away where you can get bigger bottles.

I quite like this hotel. Only stayed once but would stay again. Definitely one of the "you get what you pay for" hotels but it's fine. It's clean, rooms are quite big, front desk staff are friendly and it's in a good location.

Khao San Road is only a 5 minute walk and many stores, pharmacies and 7-11's very close by.

I would definitely recommend the Rajata.

The hotel is in a great location, nice places to eat and drink near by. It's a bit like a motel, doors face out to a back area on the ground level and onto a balcony upper level. Not 100% feeling of security. The beds are rock hard. Moldy shower area. We paid 990 baht for a twin room. Seems expensive when you can get a 4* hotel for not much more. Great location however, walking distance to Khoa San road, river and express boat peir. Good aircon in room.
