Got a great deal with Groupon for a trip to Bangkok in July and decided to try out on Bangkok Venice Suites! The staff was friendly, helpful and able to communicate in good English. On my first day arrived at the lobby after a flight delay to land at the Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport for my check in the staff will hand over to you a map of the hotel and explained to you places of interest. At the back of the hotel is a carnal which links to all the major tourist spot by boat. Great place for shopping everywhere is at a walking distance Big C, Siam Paragon, Platinum and many many more. Beside the hotel is a Thai bank with ATM's, many many 7-11 shops and Mc Donalds. The only problem here is the bad traffic at peak hours, and the is no room service so you can order food at night if you get hungry? The only way to get out of traffic and expensive charge on taxi and tuk-tuk is to get yourself to Chid Lom station Skytrain about 15-20 minutes just at the back junction road of the hotel pass over the bridge you will never miss it. Hungry no worries u can try great thai food just across the main road or try the rice burger at 7-11 and if you don't mind walking around 10 minutes there is a 24hrs Mc Donalds.

Room Tip: Get rooms with river view must better!

I was on several trips to Bangkok to settle on some business end 2011 and discovered this 'Secret Hideout'. I stayed at this hotel for 4 times in 2 months. The room was priced reasonably cheap and the staffs were very friendly. The managers speak good English and willing to explain in details if you have question.

Room is pretty cosy and free wifi. Expect some road noise as its kinda near the main road. Also Expect some river boat noise as its just beside the river boat-stop (depending on which room you're getting).

Yes! Near a river boat-stop. Thats how they named their hotel - Bangkok Venice.

Its closed to CentralWorld and Platinum. And if you dun mind walking further, you can reach Siam Paragon and MBK.

Morning and evening traffic is bad. And I mean real bad. Just need a little patience if you wanna get a taxi.

My wife booked this hotel for a few nights for our stop in Bangkok and I was pleasantly surprised at both how close it is to the main shopping areas and shopping centres in Siam (about 15 minute walk if you are planning on visiting and looking to avoid the Bangkok traffic) and from Chid Lom station on the Skytrain (about 5-10 minute walk depending on your pace in the heat!).

The hotel itself suits couples who are travelling but fancy something a bit more upmarket than a standard guesthouse. Nice clean rooms, excellent shower facilities, comfortable bed, TV, fridge and of course the vital air-conditioning!

The breakfast is fairly basic but serves the purpose of a bit of food before heading out into the city.

There were several nice touches, from the scales and luggage weighing hook at reception for those who have overloaded on goods at the shopping centres to towels folded in the shape of elephants in the rooms.

A special mention should go to the staff who were very friendly and very helpful. They provided us with a lot of information on the ways to get to the main tourist attractions, which was very helpful and there was a general feeling of going the extra mile to be helpful.

While this may not suit people looking for a fancy hotel, for those looking for a nice "base" from which to go out and explore the rest of city, it is definitely recommended.

A word of caution - We did find that the taxi drivers had a little difficulty locating it at times, so it is worth bringing a map with the location or learning the name of the road junction it sits next to whilst you stay.

In the middle in Bangkok City. Nearby the Pratunam shopping area.
Easy to the Halal food outlet

Room Tip: Good value for money. New hotel with modern concept of facilities.

Now, here's a hotel I would never have found if my Thai friend didn't know the manager there. It's a relatively new outfit, about 6 months old, and it shows. The rooms are not the most spacious but they are very well designed and the furnishing is in tip top condition. They have a pretty wide flat screen TV and an empty mini fridge. For those who know Bangkok, this can prove very useful. Why pay for mini-bar drinks when you can buy your own at a fraction of the cost at one of the many 7-elevens around. Bangkok Venice gets that. The hotel location is pretty good too. It is in the Pratunam district at the junction of Chidlom Road and Petchaburi Road. That's a 10-minute walk from Chidlom BTS station and a 10-minute walk to Pratunam market. Those familiar with Bangkok will know that the area is great for shopping since they have a wholesale market and one of the most popular IT malls in Bangkok, Pantip. The most popular and upmarket shopping centres in Bangkok are not too far either. Central World is only a 20-minute walk away. I must also add that the street food around the hotel is amazing. Just down the road is a famous chicken rice stall which is always crowded after hours when the clubs close. A 7-eleven is only a few minutes walk away. The hotel sits on Sansab canal and the ferry stop is right next to it. This means that you can travel by ferry rather than constantly taking taxis, tuktuks or walking. I paid about US$40 per night for a room. For the convenience, the quality of the room and the great service, I think it's a steal. Last thing though...you can't smoke in the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a corner room as you'll get two different views, including one of the canal
