“Solid option - not luxurious”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013 via mobile

The Good:
1) Location - on Sukhumvit Road smack bang in the middle of the action. Soi Cowboy, foreigner oriented bars and restaurants are very close.
2) Large nice hotel lobby.
3) Very clean.
4) Good service at front desk and from bellboys.
5) Reasonable pricing. Got my room for less than AU$100 from a wotif.com mystery deal.

The Bad:
1) Taxi drivers loitering out front - tried to hire one to take me a short distance. Was told the place I wanted to go to was closed (a lie) and then driver tried to convince me to go elsewhere. This should not be allowed to happen at a five star hotel. Similarly, on the way to the airport the driver refused to put on his meter and asked for a flat 400 baht fee - I was too tired to argue over it.
2) Bellboys - they expect to be tipped for bringing your bags up. This is a relatively new thing for Bangkok. Slightly annoying considering it is not a local custom, more an opportunity by staff to fleece foreigners who the see as walking ATM's.
3) Small rooms.
4) No balconies.

Overall, a great place to stay if you are in transit and want to be near the action. Would not recommend for a luxury stay, it is simply not geared towards that.

We stayed at the Exec Suite, which more like apartments with a little kitchenette. We had the top floor room, so it was nice to see the sky from the bed.Since it is a brand new hotel, still feels a bit bare. Anyhow, food was good, hotel was clean and friendly staff, good security. Direct access to the Terminal 21 mall and the Asok BTS. There were 2 drawbacks, one being the aircon in the bedroom, which was extremely noisy, it woke us from sleep at night. It sounded like someone pounding on the pipes and ended with plane takeoff sound, this happened every 10 mins, specially at night. And second was, the day before our flight back home, we requested for airport transport (specified for a big car or taxi) at 10:30am for next morning, the concierge happily agreed. In the morning, when we arrived at the reception for check out, there was no car ready to take us to the airport, so we had to wait for some time to get a taxi, and then a regular taxi arrives, and we had to squeeze our suitcases at the back and one in the front seat. We would have arranged for a bigger car if they had only informed when we made the request the day before. Over all good, clean hotel- just need to get some their minor things fixed.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms!

This was our first trip overseas and certainly first trip to Bangkok, Thailand. Once we had our bearings from the airport finding the hotel was quite easy. The advantage of being right on the MBK rail path meant we were able to access almost every part of the city we wanted with ease.
The staff and accommendation at the hotel were beatiful we ended up on the top floor with a magnificent view of Bangkok.

While we were based on a smoking floor and neither my partner or I are smokers, you wouldnt have known it was a smokers floor. The room was cleaned and restocked daily and the staff provided valuable gudiance where possible. Overall an awesome stay and will certainly be staying there again.

When my fiance and I stayed GCPT21, it was very new and they were still selling rooms at promotional rates of measley 70euros which got you a free upgrade and breakfast. Although those days are over and the price has doubled and sometimes tripled, I would still stay there, as it is a fantastic hotel. It is however important to note, that is not a western style 5 star hotel, but an asian or japanese style 5 star hotel, meaning more of a luxury residence. All rooms have kitchens (very nice ones) and washing machines with built in dryers, which really come in handy after weeks of traveling through thailand. There is no pool bar at the lovelz panorama, but you can get take out froom the food court of the terminal 21 mall and bring it up to the pool. So it is more a do it yourself 5 star hotel, which I actually really liked. The rooms are super modern and technologically up to date including electric blinds and japanese toilets. The view over asok from the rooms is also spectacular. Breakfast is nice, with alot of different asian breakfast choices. Tennis players will love the possibility to play tennis on the rooftop overlooking bangkok, but the courts need to be cared for more intensly by the staff otherwise they will be useless in 3 to 4 years. The gym is also quite nice with average machines and equipment but a wondeful design. The location of the hotel is unbeatable, right at asok BTS station at the heart of the sukhumvit, just great for shopping! But be aware, the infamous soi cowboy red light district is right across the road, and many hotel guests choose GCPT21 for that reason.

Reception staff not especially friendly when greeting us. We arrived 2 hours after check in time and our room was not ready. Staff wanted us to wait in the lobby for an hour but we complained, as we had been on a very long flight, so were upgraded. Room was very modern and spacious. The airconditioner was terribly noisy though so much that I was unable to sleep whilst it was on.
Reception staff were not very helpful when it came to giving us directions either. They seemed to lack patience.
I ordered room service once. It arrived cold and was very average.
Ate at the adjoining restaurant on a different occasion (for convenience). It was also average both in food quality and service. Long wait and meals came out at different times.
The pool is beautiful and has a lovely view.
Upon check out, I felt that the concierge was trying to hassle us into getting into a larger taxi than necessary. It certainly felt like he was going to get a cut from this.
Overall, it is very modern and classy in appearance.
It is lacking in quality customer service and in my opinion the cons outweigh the pros, especially for the expensive rates.

Pros of this hotel -
1. As many other reviewers mentioned, the location. Its near to many good restaurants and just an elevator ride to the Skytrain which is THE way to get around BKK. It happens to be linked to the Centrepoint Mall but I didn't find this mall worthwhile. A lot of no-name shops and prices scarcely below what I would pay in US. A great place for bargain hunting are the stalls on the road side - "genuine" Chanel number 5 for $13 and a "genuine" Jimmy Choo clutch for $25!
I asked in the hotel for the price of a massage and was shocked it was about $50. Go out of the hotel, round the corner where the mall entrance is and walk along the road where the Westin hotel is - 3 min walk - many massage parlors and beauty salons at Thai prices!
2. Many things were included in the price which I really appreciate - bottled water in fridge, toiletries in bathroom - everything incl razor and shaving cream. And our room came with breakfast and internet - great saving when you travel with family.
3. Pool and gym - ultra modern, attractive and clean. Sitting out by the infinity pool was a great way to relax after racing around seeing the sites in the morning. (However, pool side service is poor - no waiters came over and we always had to go and ask for drinks/menus.)
4. Lovely views from enormous windows in each room. And heated toilet seat - how cool is that!
Cons
1. My husband said the interior design was cold - white tiles, white curtains, white linens and black large screen tv. No real art work or texture such as rugs. Ok, I wouldn't want it for my living room at home, but for a hotel room esp in the Tropics, I found the minimalist look very refreshing.
2. no alcohol served in the hotel. This didn't affect us so much as we went out for dinner every night and could order whatever poison we wanted, but there were a few moments - sitting at the side of the pool in the sun when a cold beer would have been really nice!
3. English skills of staff. Funny that one reviewer commented positively on the staff's English. Of course it depends on the individual member of staff - we encountered a waiter at breakfast who couldn't understand 'black tea please' and had to get a supervisor to translate. the reason we felt this was worth mentioning (in hope the management take note) is that an order of black tea for breakfast seems rather basic vocabulary...

Overall a good visit and a good price.

I just returned from BKK yesterday and stayed in T21 Grande Centre Point for 3 nights. When we left hotel for the airport, the bell boy asked us if we needed a taxi and they could arrange. We said ok and about 5 minutes a taxi arrived. After we got on, I asked the driver if we used meter but the driver said no and the fee was 400 baht including highway toll. Considering the fee was fair, we continued our journey.

Although the taxi was very clean and the attitude of the driver was nice, I still had hard feeling that why the staff did not tell me that meter was not used before I got on. I have been in BKK for more than ten times and stayed in different five-star hotels before, I never have such odd experience.
