Description: Inspired by the Traditional New York Bistro, VIU embraces captivating views of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, and beyond. By day, the inviting restaurant offers a bright, sunny environment that recalls the grace and character of a stately home. If you are in the mood for a deliciously indulgent morning meal, enjoy our special Astor Champagne breakfast with offerings such as Moët Chandon, Banana Mascarpone French Toast and freshly squeezed fruit smoothies. Or, you may wish to order from the St. Regis breakfast menu, with selections from eggs cooked to order and house made breads and jams to Asian-style offerings, including sashimi and sushi and wok-fried egg noodles. We also offer a full Continental breakfast, including espresso drinks, fresh fruits, yogurts, exquisite pastries and breakfast basics, including bacon and scrambled eggs. Our lunch features an interactive dining concept with eight live stations. Start with a healthy salad, cold cuts and freshly baked breads before indulging in a main course from our daily selection of Western and Thai specials, accompanied by a fresh selection of pasta, and finally end the meal with our mouthwatering desserts. By night, sheer drapes and dimmed lighting transform VIU into a favored destination for its internationally influenced menu and seductive ambiance, clearly meant for elegant dining. The restaurant's focal point is a rustic European farmhouse style kitchen framed by rough stone. Ceiling beams and a stone slab floor add to the rustic feel. White stone-topped tables are set for two or four diners with options easily arranged for larger groups. Brightly colored table mats are changed according to the time of day to match the red and cream colored upholstered chairs. For dinner, VIU offers signature starters such as the Akami Saku Tuna Tartar where the wasabi is created as a crisp wafers rather than paste, and for our rendition of the Caesar Salad - Grilled Romaine, Crisp Parma Ham, the lettuce is grilled with Parma ham. For the main courses, Chef Matthew recommends The St. Regis Maine Lobster Thermidor, the Blackmore 500 Day Wagyu Grain Fed Skirt, and the 24 Hour Wagyu Beef Short Rib with Bloody Mary Butter which is a perfectly slow-cooked short rib that is accompanied with our interpretation of Café de Paris Butter. Among the sandwiches, one must experience the Classic Rueben Sandwich and The St. Regis Rossini Burger and among the Thai dishes, the highlights include the Spicy Thai Green Papaya Salad with Crisp School Shrimps, the Seared White Scallops with Salted Egg Sauce and the Wok-Fried Pad Thai Noodles with Tamarind glazed Maine Lobster, each offering robust, honest and full flavors. A wide selection of new and old world wines as well as fine, handcrafted cocktails complement the perfect VIU dining experience.

“Lunch at the Viu not to be missed”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

St Regis in Bangkok is simply amazing and the Viu is quality all the way, service, food, ambience..
Daily lunch starts at 499++ for salad buffet which is more than enough for lunch, great variety and amazing flavours: thai pork and beef salads, fresh fruit, caesar, chicken.. If you are still hungry you can go for the 2nd main course option which is only slightly more expensive..and of course dessert buffet if you really want to full meal deal..
I can not thank enough our waiter who was very attentive and made us feel comfortable and welcome. When we complimented the delicious smoothies he was on his way to the chef for ingredients as we wanted to make them at home, everything was heavenly!
Cant wait to try the brunch..

“Quality time at VIU!”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

We went there with group of friends and tried Saturday lunch - very good salad and cold cuts appetizer buffet to start with. Everything we tried from the buffet tasted fresh and good. There are wide choice of maincouse to choose from - some of us tried meat and some had pasta. Meat dish was very tender and came out in nice presentation and pasta was just perfectly cooked - unlike a usual over cooked pasta you get in Bangkok.
Dessert also did not let us down!!! Atmosphere and service at the restaurant was also outstanding. Will definitely go back again!

“Nice restaurant with nice view”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We stayed at The St Regis Bangkok for 2 nights and we had both breakfast & dinner at the Viu. Food quality was excellent & service level by the waiter & waitress are impeccable.

There are 2 live cooking station during breakfast buffet - one for eggs & one for noodles. Must try the Egg Benedict!

As for dinner, we order the ala carte menu & if you are not satisfied with the food, the staff are more than happy to change the food for you.

“Sunday brunch is awesome!”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

My Sunday brunch was a buffet that I did not have to walk much to get the food. Instead, I sat down and picked from the menu and ordered to the waitress. I went there with 10 friends and we all had a great time from 12.00 - 4.00 pm. Hm.. yes, we ate a lot, lol. The highlight were oyster, very fresh, Wagyu beef and the star went to lobsters. The choice of cooking could be grill, Thermidor and believe it or not lobster sashimi. The sashimi was not on the menu and we discovered it somehow, though a little bit late near the end of our meal. But when we tried, this was absolutely awesome!!!! The rest of the food was kind of seafood that you can also find from other hotels. Nothing was bad though. We sat next to the window and looked out to the beautiful scene of a lawn of a prestigious sport club in Bangkok and the food kept coming. You can also get unlimited cocktails with Sunday brunch buffet. It's amazing experience and I would like to go back again.

“Disappointing main course and service”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Arrived at Viu at midday and was seated immediately. As we were the ony diners (one table came later) we thought srevice wouldn't be an issue. We ordered from the lunch menu, and also ordered a bottle of wine. We then wre invited to get out appetizer from the salad bar. The food was varied and looked delicious: tasting confirmed its deliciousness. But hang on, where's the wine! The waiter was called over and wer were assured that the "wine was on the way". We finished out appetizer, and while still waiting for the wine, one of my guests decided for seconds at the salad bar. But, still no wine! Seconds finished and still no wine! This was a good 40 minutes into the meal. Finally, I was told that the sauvignon blanc I order was out of stock! I ordered a substitute riesling and when it arrived (promptly this time), it was a room temperature!

Out mains were served and to be honest, they were disappointing. Both the salmon and the seabass were over-cooked, and the porl ribs (according to another guest) were a bit bla! At ths stage there were only 6 people in the restaurant so it escapes how chef could have overcooked the fish!

Dessert salvaged the eal a bit. The creme brulee was delicious and the mango sticky rice sushi (with edible gold leaf) was whimsical and full on flavor.

But seriously, the St Regis markets itself as a top end establishment, mistakes as we experienced should not happen. I am just about ready to strike it off my list!
