I have been to this restaurant many times and just went there again today. The quality of food is stil excellent. Service was also good. So many items ti choose from the menu(also in English). The sauted liver and the Thai crispy noodle (mee krob) are my favorite. Best of all, the price is right.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a regular here. I live in the neighborhood and eat here at least once a week. But that's a good thing. With all of the places to eat in my neighborhood (Thai and Western) this is the one I keep coming back to.

First off, the food is really good. It's authentic Thai. There are a lot of tourists and expats in this neighborhood, but on any given day there are many more Thais eating here than foreigners.

If you order something from the spicy side of the spectrum (it's a stereotype that all Thai food is incendiary hot) someone will come out and make sure you want it spicy. Say yes, order spicy and you get spicy. The menu is somewhat limited - a good thing I think since it means that what they do, they do well - but there is a good selection of stir fried dishes, curries and soups. Rice is extra (the norm in Thai restaurants) but cheap, only 10B (.30¢ US). Most dishes are between 60B and 100B.

Then there's the staff. Always smiling, always friendly and always willing to help you choose a dish.

It's pretty easy to find. Thong Lee is down Soi 20. Take the BTS to Asoke, walk down the skywalk to Exchange Tower exit, walk up Sukhumvit to Soi 20 and turn right.

Go down the soi past the hotels and restaurants, past Sabai Sabai massage (which has a large, easy to see sign) and look for the hole in the wall on your right.

Their sign "Thong Lee" is over the shop. Conveniently, the sign is in English. If you're in the neighborhood, shopping at Emporium or one of the other nearby malls, this is the place to visit. It's good for families or solo travelers.

I found this place three years ago and I never come to Bangkok without coming here. The place is small and family run, and the food is great. Thong Lee serves my favorite dish in Thailand, pork fried in shrimp paste. I have had it at other places and nothing compares to the way they make it here. I dream of eating this all the time. I can't wait to return to Thing Lee.

It's no frills and the presentation is minimal. It's small and looks a little old (been there for 60 years). But, that all makes it my kind of place. Basically, Thong Lee is a small mom and pop restaurant where the food tastes very homemade, kind of like your mom or grandma made it.

I've also had the green curry and the sweet fried noodles. All the dishes here are great. If someone asked me what my top 5 places I wanted to eat where location didn't matter, Thong Lee would be on that list. It's located about halfway up Sukhumvit Soi 20.

Been here many times over five years. Used to have the tamarind cafe opposite however it was sadly replaced by a 7-11. A very local authentic place serving up clean fresh and well priced food. Not a tourist haunt but should be for those wanting great food without the tourist markup.

This tiny family owned restaurant is tucked in a small hotel street close to Asok Skytrain station. The food is very authentic and you can only see locals eating there. This is usually a good sign. It is the only place we found in Bangkok that makes mee krob (or mee grorp) a yummy appetizer with deep fried vermicelli and sweet sauce. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try what Bangkok feels like if you live there and if you are too scared to try the street food. It will be a nice and original experience, cheap food and a nice service.
