I travel a lot and have experienced a lot of different levels of hotels but this is one I will definitely not return to. The only thing it has going for it is the price.
Upon arrival the 2 guys from the reception watched me carry my luggage through the rain and up the stairs to the entrance door. No assistance offered at all. Upon check-in I realized they do not speak and English which made the whole process quite long and unpleasant. The Royal Express does not have an elevator so when I was given the choice of high floor or low floor I opted for the low floor as I was heavy on luggage. This was a mistake however. Because low floor mean ground floor and ground floor means 10 meters behind reception. So all night I was exposed to the chattering of hotel staff and arriving guests and of course also to any phone calls and music playing to keep the night staff awake. The room itself is tiny, consisting almost of only the bed and a bathroom. The aircon is located to blow directly down onto your head while you are sleeping...if you can sleep throught the receptional noises and the noise of the aircon that is. There was rainfall during my stay in Bangkok this time which also lead to a leaking of the bathroom ceiling. So while sitting on toilet I had to deal with rain water dropping down on me. I actually left this place after one night even though I had paid for 2 nights in advance.

Room tip: i doubt there is a good room

Good place for a short stay. Don't make a reservation over three days. This is a great place and location to come in from the airport, shower, sleep, and look around a bit. I do not recommend this hotel for families, or for people expecting a "Three Star" experience.

This is a small, Asian hotel built for those expectations. It's near the Nana Plaza, and a half a block away from the Sky Train. Shopping Malls are one and two stops away. Food, Indian tailor shops, and sidewalk vendors are everywhere. It's a great "experience" ... but not more than 1-to-3 days. After that, shell out a few more bucks and stay somewhere nice.

The staff were fine. If you treat them with respect, they'll treat you the same way. "Just the facts." This is not a place for a lot of chummy conversations. Talk long and expect to "get worked" anywhere in Thailand. No windows in my room here on the second floor so there's mold in the toilet/shower. (Yep, that's exactly what I said...) It's quiet enough ... which means if you're "noisy" everyone will hear you.

Room tip: No pool, no fitness room ... this is not that kind of party. The bed takes up most of the room, and that's what you're there for... to get some sleep before heading out.

This hotel has some good points, the room was very clean, good shower/bath room, comfortable double bed and great location (Nana MRT station is quite literally around the corner). Some negatives though - if you have a car, dont bother, there is no where to park it... Staying on the 5th floor taxed my aging legs and there are no elevators... The staff are nice enough but their understanding of english is limited. Aircon and fridge are linked to the keycard operated power supply, so when you come back at the end of a hot and wearying day of culture, your room is stifling and the drinks you left in the fridge are warm...

Room tip: Go for the first floor to avoid several flights of stairs

There are definatly positives and negatives to this hotel. I stayed in a room with a double bed with a close friend. The staff we okay, they did their job well, but there was not much interaction anyway. The room is neat, tidy, very clean but you do get what you pay for. We had to climb 3 flights of stairs as there is no elevator, our window cannot be seen out of, but these are small prices to pay for a cheap few nights. There was free wifi, though its pretty average. Air con worked perfectly and definatly needed to be put on to escape the heat outside. All in all, this hotel is satisfactory if your just looking for room to come back to after some adventures during day. No noise could be heard from outside in our room, but we did hear other people coming up the hall to there rooms quite prominently. I thought it was fine and served the purpose we needed.

I do not reccomend this hotel for stay. Rooms are neat but very congested and without any window. Aircon did not work properly. After scaling four floors through a narrow staircase (as there is no lift) we were pretty worked up and passage being too narrow and stuffy, it aggravated the problem. Aircon did not work after switching on, we called the staff, they were not able to understand the problem. After 1 hour they offered us another room on fifth floor but problem of aircon was same. The lady owner offered to return back the advance money in case we checked in another hotel. We looked for other hotel and when came back for checking out she refused to give back money. So we had to stay there in the stuffy room drenched in sweat. Basic amenities are there and it is near to BTS but it is not reccommended for family holidays.
