Amora Neoluxe Hotel Bangkok

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 17, 2012
This is a small boutique hotel just off the main road of Sukhumvit. The roomis are quite small though reasonably comfortable. There is a shower and bath tub available, with an adequate closet with a safe to keep our valuables. Wifi is also available though quite weak and intermittent. There is cable TV though very limited watchable English channels. The small room size is not a major issue for two people. What I didn't like were the thin walls where you can hear doors slamming shut or your neighbours talking (unless in quiet voices). The location is arguably convenient, thoug for me, there are more convenient locations. There are shops, bars and eating places nearby. There is also a BTS station within a 5 minute walk. However, I did not quite like the very busy Sukhumvit road and the non-stop traffic.

There is room service and an adequate breakfast buffet available. The room service prices are cheaper than more mainstream hotels. However, there is no bar in the hotel and the lobby area is very small. The reception is small and run by helpful but not very knowledgeable staff. I did not feel as comfortable in this hotel compared to others. While it is a relatively cheap hotel, I would prefer to stay at similarly-priced hotels a little further away from Sukhumvit.

Room Tip: Corner rooms away from the lifts are quieter You can find a more restful hotel if location in...

I scored this hotel low in a couple of areas.
On arrival at 3, we were late and did advise our arrival would be at 2pm, our room wasn't ready. We waited til almost 330pm. On a hot sweaty afternoon in Bangkok after flying from the uk we were less than impressed.

So we get in the room. Great. Nothing less than we were expecting, not a lot more either. Pretty much an average uk premier inn/big chain hotel style ( even though this hotel is smaller as alreadystated).
My partner, needs to use the gym, as often as possible, due to his job( unfortunately even on holiday) however he only lasted 12 minutes before coming back saying the heat in the gym was just suffocating as there was no aircon?!?!

We stayed here for 2 nights.
We went to breakfast just the once.
I'm not sure what everyone else is used to having for breakfast but chicken with ginger sauce and an partially raw fried egg was not exactly appetising for the first meal of the day. Sure there was some fruit?? Yes. Just melon. that was all and some American style hotdogs and some, and I mean 2, cereals. We did not bother on day 2 but went to the bagel and coffee shop on the corner of suk.31. Also, I can't quite understand if the staff in the bar get any form of cocktail training or general drink making?
The lady, who was absolutey lovely, don't get me wrong, made an absolutely awful drink for my partner which was definitely not the expensive cocktail he asked for. All drinks there were very expensive unless you want beer. Due to us being not very good at all at Thai we couldn't tell her what it was that she had done wrong in Thai (she had used baileys instead of Cointreau!).
Very expensive mistake. Didn't go again. She was very sweet showing us places to go on the map though.

Beds were fine, but don't expect wow! But apparently for Bangkok, fine seems to sufficient for some to call it wow.

Won't stay on our return to Bangkok next week. Maybe a hotel either directly in the city central to most or one near the airport would be better!!

I booked this hotel because several reviewers called it "luxury." Well, I think those people have never been to Thailand before. This is certainly not a luxury hotel by Thai standards but it's very nice. This hotel is actually pretty normal by Thai standards. It's nice, quiet, the room is bigger than average, very clean and with all the important amenities like a safe, tea set, free water, flat screen, etc. However, if you're expecting luxury, this is just a normal nice hotel.
Right now with the internet specials, it's probably the best deal in Bangkok - very nice and clean room, free breakfast and wifi and still inexpensive.
They say it's next to the BTS, but it's actually several minutes walk - 5-10 minutes walk to Phrom Phong and 10-15 minutes walk to Asok.
Coffee shop and wine bar on the corner, restaurants within short walk. It's pretty close to the girl bars and massage parlors, but none on this street so you can avoid that if you don't want to see it.
They have free breakfast buffet which is mostly Asian food but they'll cook you eggs and there's fresh fruit every day. They also have a very inexpensive lunch buffet which is a wide selection of Thai food and excellent and authentic.. if you like spicy food.

A few things I really don't like:
The wifi is extremely slow. Extremely slow for Thailand. They need a new network. Also you have to log in again every time you use it which is annoying.
The TV selection is terrible. It's mostly Thai channels and no English movie channels. Other hotels have Star Movies, HBO Asia, etc. This one has none of them.
The towels are tattered. They're clean but threadbare. Certainly no luxury there.
The laundry is expensive. Normal for a hotel but whatever.
The AC is extremely loud and doesn't have very good controls, so it's either blasting and freezing or barely pumping and hot. I'm tired of having to turn it on and off.

Clean and luxurious rooms. Shared a large (queen?) bed with my cousin. The furniture and appliances were new. It was clean. Very modern and close to transportation. I would have probably stayed there right after my flight arrival, instead of Regent Suvarnabhumi, but I was looking at location of airport to the hotel after the flight.

Very central to shopping and general walking around to soak in the city. Large clean bathroom. Felt very pampered here.

My husband and I stayed at the Amora NeoLux Hotel for two nights. This hotel is convenient to a couple of fabulous malls, sky train, street shopping and eating. Additionally, there is a massage place near by “Golden Lotus” that we highly recommend. Service was outstanding. The location is great for those who don’t mind venturing out. The hotel itself is small and only has 60 rooms. It’s kind of boutique hotel, but it offered free Wi-Fi and breakfast. The rooftop pool area and gym are really nice with new equipment. We were on the third floor and unfortunately, the hallway odor was not the best fragrance. We were not sure why the smell wasn’t fresh and inviting, but once we got in our room, we were fine. The bathroom and room were contemporary and warm. It had a nice spa feel. However, the shower curtain could have been replaced. The room had an amazing DVD player with surround sound system. It took us a day to get it to work. We called for assistance and the engineer was not available until we called back later on that day. I was a little disappointed in the short staff and lack of communication. However, when the engineer was available, he fixed the situation. The bed was not as comfortable as we’d hope. Consequently, we are not use to sleeping on really firm beds. Needless to say, the front desk attendant/bell man/ concierge and the wait staff in the dining area were all fabulous. One of the things I liked the most was the all in one remote control. You can regulate the air, lights, and room service on one remote. Although, some of this review may not be as positive, we enjoyed our stay there and made the best out of time at the AmoraNeoLux Hotel. The amenities offered at this hotel are comparable to that of larger chain hotels. We would frequent this hotel again.
