“Clean rooms, friendly staff but a nightmare to find!”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

This is a clean, nicely furnished hotel with hot water and ac as standard. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms itself was great value, but a bit bright as there were no curtains on the window which served as an early wake up call when the sun came up. The main problem however is the location. Its not far from Khao San and easily navigable once you have done it a couple of times. But no taxi or tuk tuk drivers knew where it was - or even the street or temple opposite which made it very difficult when first arriving in Bangkok!

Room Tip: Take a map with you for your taxi on the way back!

30 min walking distance to the temples, Khaosan, China Town, a few steps to the boat station that takes you to Jim Thompson House. Quiet place for its central location, but ask for the canal view rooms, the rooms facing the street are noisy. Clean and safe. Forget about breakfast, it's just tea, instant coffee and bread.

I was very disappointed in this place. We booked through Agoda as we were flying from far away. Read a bunch of reviews to book something just for a few nights and then find something on foot as you get a better deal. Well, we didn't listen as we booked this place for 8 nights.

The location is good as it's very close to a market so getting morning meals is really cheap and delicious (turn right when you step out of the hotel and continue straight past Bo Bae Tower). Also good for taking buses if you can learn to do that.

However, it was way overpriced. The rooms do not look like in the pictures, the hotel is older and more used on the inside. We paid almost $30 per night through Agoda (including the taxes), but afterward we found a WAY NICER HOTEL for $16 a night. There is no hot water - just cold. The fridge had some mold on the inside. The shower was just a shower-head in the bathroom so everything gets wet when you take a shower. The windows do not close properly so bugs get in through the gaps. Also, the windows provide no insulation against the noise from the outside. There is a loud speaker (and we were on the 4th floor) blasting who knows what early in the morning. Also, there are many tuk tuks, cars, and loud motorcycles which travel down Damrong Rak Rd from early on in the morning. Bring earplugs!

By the way, do not book through Agoda as they charge a terrible rate for all hotels. The hotel that we are at now, paying $16 a night for three weeks (VAT included), is priced at $40 on Agoda (then add VAT to that, too).

Room Tip: Make sure you print the map to show the taxi as nobody knows where it is by neither hotel name or ad...

My wife and me stayed here a few nights in November 2012. Picked this hotel because of quiet location (thanon damrong rak) and still nearby old city center. Booked via agoda, notified the hotel we would arrive extremely late (1.30am); prompt reply (top!). When arrived, only night guard waiting for us, had to call (sleeping) receptionist, check-in happened quickly enough though.
Stayed at first floor, quiet. No traffic noise, etc. (top!)
Key card security, night guard = safe feeling. (top!) (when going upstairs, mind your head)
Cleaning of room could be slightly better, but when we told the receptionist, got clean sheets etc.
Upside: quiet location (nearby Golden Mount and city center, nearby Khlong Sean Seab express boats), nice room, friendly personnel.
Downside: the cleaning of room was not 100% perfect, not all days the reception was staffed, the offered breakfast is best to be ignored in foodheaven-BKK: good options in the neighborhood - streetfood stalls with breakfast for 30-40THB. Hotel is difficult to find for taxi drivers but when telling Bo Bae tower usually not a problem.
Would love to stay here again!

Stayed here for two nights. The rooms are very new and very modern and clean. Got AC, TV, Fridge, and a very clean Bathroom. Staff was very helpful and booked a cab for the airport. Has a key card entry and very safe. From the City center to here a cab would cost you 50 bath and a tuk would be 30. Nearest BTS sky train is National Stadium. Easy to find. Print a map and show to the driver that's the best way.

Room Tip: All rooms are new and same furniture. Think IKEA ones :)
