“Five Star!!”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

We stayed for four days at the Empire Place in Bangkok and it was the highlight of our Thai-Cambodia trip. The amenities were top notch - rooms, pool, common areas and WCs. It even came with a washer/drier and coffee maker complete with coffee grounds. Definitely worth every penny!!

From the moment we arrived and were met by the smiling and helpful Marriott staff with Orchid Leis staying here was a real pleasure. We were then taken to our apartment by one of the staff where a welcome drink was waiting in the fridge for us. We were amused when he asked to take our photo which we naturally questioned. His response was that the photo would be returned the next day framed by housekeeping 'to make us feel at home'!
We were fortunate to have a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment. All the apartments are luxurious and are kept impeccably by the housekeeping staff. I believe that Marriott own around 20 apartments in the block which is mainly made up of executive apartments which are really well placed for getting around either by public transport, taxi or on foot. Incidentally we walked a lot much to the amusement and puzzlement of the staff. I would love to own an apartment here. I agree with other reviewers that you need to take with you the name and address of Empire Place in Thai when going by taxi.
We stayed a week which we didn't find long enough because there is so much to see and do in and around Bangkok such as The Grand Palace, the floating markets, Jim Thompson's House, The Summer Palace, Ayutthaya etc etc. Still there's always next time?!
P.S. We enjoyed our time here so much that I would have reviewed it straight away but at that time Empire Place wasn't on Tripadvisor.

We stayed for a week in a 2 bedroom apartment on an interval exchange and loved it, the apartment is superluxurious and is serviced every day to a very high standard. Agree that its important to get the name and location in thai as taxi drivers do not know the place. We would recommend Feung Nara as a great place to eat awesome thai food in a very pleasant clean courtyard atmosphere within easy walking distance. There is a great supermarket at city viva esp for buying fresh fruit.l Whilst we missed being able to get a cocktail by the pool (yes these are apartments not actually a resort ), the pool is large and usually was pretty much empty. We would also recommend a visit to the nearby vertigo bar on the 59th floor of the Banyan tree hotel for a cocktail with a spectactular view. Blue elephant cooking course also nearby. We had a massage at healthlands but it was not the best we had. (Nothing beats Wat Po for massage ).

Room Tip: as for high floor - views would be great

Stayed here a week in november. We are a group of two adults and a baby of 2. We very much enjoyed our stay here. But it has to be said (again?) that it is an appartment building and not a resort or hotel. Marriott has several appartments, but also other Bangkokians live here. Taxidrivers have difficulty finding it, so get the address written in Thai before you step in a cab. And watch for yourself, so you can guide the driver to this place. All the drivers know of the Skytrain station, so that should help.

The staff that is on duty is very helpfull and make it an occasion to seat you in their office when possible. But they are limited in their service. They can help you check in and out and cater for your travel or sightseeing needs. But that is basically it. There is no restaurant. And the pool is neither staffed (maybe 1 persons just checking the place, but no poolservice). The pool is okay. There is a very small playground for the kids. And the room is big and clean. We had a 2 room appartment. New bottles of water every day and a good cleaning (including washing of dishes).

Close to the complex is a mini shopping mall (City Viva) where there are a few restaurants and a supermarket (not cheap but lots of options). Our daughter also loved the shopping mall, as they also had some rides for small kids (jumping and a trainride). You have to walk 5 minutes to the skytrain and use the strairs to get up. When with a stroller (or maybe even a wheelchair) you notice Bangkok can be a challenge to get around. We managed with 1 kid though.

As there were floods in Thailand at the time of our visit, we did not see Ayuthaya. But we saw the attractions of Bangkok: the Grand Palace, Chatuchak Weekend Market, Shopping Malls such as MBK and Siam Paragon, we did a daytrip to The Ancient City (we liked it a lot, we rented a golfcart to drive through the whole park... very beautiful and our daughter loved it too... well, she got so much attention from the people of Thailand and she loved all the attention and became a big fan of Buddha... as Buddha can be seen everywhere). Plus we enjoyed the Thai food, even did a cooking class at the Blue Elephant (not cheap but worth it, and you can enjoy your meal at their restaurant).

With more service around the pool and a more resort feeling, this could be an excellent place. We enjoyed it.

We had a 2 bed unit on the 4th floor (although it's actually a fair bit higher than that), the staff were extremely helpful and the room was absolutely spotless, very comfortable and generally faultless. The building is nice and it's a great base for exploring Bangkok. No complaints at all from me or my family, another great job by Marriott!

Agreed with all the positive TA comments below - high quality service and English proficiency of the entire staff, great amenities within the apartment, new appliances, nice Thai-influenced decoration and furnishing. Also to add - for future visitors that there are also various food options - there are many sit-downn eateries along the way to the BTS station if you don't mind - provides very good value for money. We ate a couple of lunches alongside with office workers from around the area. Recommended - a tea/ coffee stand selling freshly-made hot and cold Thai coffee and tea (mixed from long cotton filters) - 12 Baht for hot Thai tea which was what we ordered everyday. Next to the BTS station - there is also a Dean & Deluca cafe. For dinners, it is walking distance to Saladaeng area (about 15-20 min eg Eat Me and La Table de Tee) and a short taxi ride away from Silom area (Banyan Tree, Metropolitan Hotel etc) and also Health Land and Spa Sathorn branch. Definitely recommended and would come back.

Our first family trip to Bangkok with our four year daughter and we stayed in a single room apartment. It has a well equipped kitchen and laundry machine and drier. Although the hotel does not have it's own kitchen, they have provision for ordering food from nearby restaurants.
The sky train stop is aout 10 minute walk away. The staff here are very friendly and courteous and helpful. Our stay here was just fabulous.

Room Tip: you have a choice of 1 bedroom apartment to 3 bedroom apartment depending upon the size of your fami...
