This is a family run restaurant (the waitress delivering our meals was a young girl still in her school uniform) off the beaten track. We were the only foreigners there on the night we visited - a restaurant full of locals is always a good sign in my mind. The food was delicious with some unusual dishes we had not tried before although we have been to Thailand many times. Good food at good prices - we will visit this restaurant again and I would say it is certainly worth a visit.

Thai locals and ferang (Asian and Western) are always present - there's your endorsement right there!!

Love this little gem tucked away in Soi 35 Sukhumvit. It's colourful north country decor and welcoming entrance - type of Zen garden with fishpond and flourishing plants - immediately sets the scene for a lovely evening with friends or as a couple. It's small so best to book.

The NE cuisine never disappoints , so much so that I dine here once per week! The steamed fish with lime or fried whole fish with green mango are both MUSTS to try, as are the prawns in tamarind sauce, NE sausage (pronounced SIGH OO-A), Thai omelette, pork dishes etc. Come to think of it, there's probably little that isn't delicious!
Desserts are more limited in variety but tasty nonetheless as all Thai desserts usually are. The service is attentive and friendly no matter how busy they are which is always conducive to a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

If living in Bangkok or merely travelling through, this is a place not to be overlooked!

Ps: it serves beer but is BYO in general . No corkage fee.

found the restaurant eventually, blocks everywhere. the restaurant is actually in a lovely olfd building. long wait (over 1 hour). Lovely lady (owner?) had the most wonderful manner. we had kind of Meze, not impressed- too much spam and a few cut up vegetables, Thai sausage- didn't like it. Mains- Pork with tamarind sauce was excellent. Wines v expensive. Overall not cheap but other than the wine, we loved our foodie experience.

My husband and I walked down a long side street that looked like an alley, searching for this place and starting to think we were just lost. Then there she was, Gedhawa, glowing in the night like an oasis. The ambiance is so pretty at night. Once inside, everywhere you look you find something that catches your eye: small collections of nostalgia, paintings of Thailand, captivating color palettes. The menus were made by hand by the owner herself just to give you an idea of how much love is put into everything here. The food was INCREDIBLE. Easily the best meal of Bangkok. Maybe even the best meal I had in my 2 weeks in Thailand. Treat yourself and try something new here. Get a little adventurous. You won't regret it and I promise a memorable meal at Gedhawa.

Thought we were in the wrong soi (35) for a while walking there as it is quite deep in, but were pleasantly surprised when we found it. Decorated with lots of character, really nice cosy ambience, not pretentious or flashy, but almost homely. Food was excellent, with some interesting choices from Northern Thailand. Service was very good. A meal for two of us including 4 main dishes, 2 little desserts, and beer, came to less than 800 baht. This is my new favorite restaurant in Bangkok.
