“A clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay in Bangkok”
Reviewed July 30, 2012 via mobile

The rooms here won't blow you away with their decor, but this is a nice family home, run by a friendly family. About 5 minutes walk from the skytrain, the guest house is handily placed not far from Lumpini Park on a quiet residential street. Its cheap and there's free wifi too.

Tucked away in a green, leafy alleywall with large white french windows, this place looked like such a find till we got to see the rooms.I stayed in a non AC room and a shared bathroom for 350 baht per night, on the second floor(no lift). The room was very tiny with absolutely no space to move. I had to stand on the bed to use the mirror! There is tiny desk and a small side table. The shared bathrooms were very clean and there were three of them on one floor for 5 rooms. The rooms smelled funny throughout and despite the big window, we were sweating for most part, unless we positioned ourselves directly in front of the fan. The rooms are atmospheric/eerie depending on how you look at it with peeling paint and paper. Also, since our room was facing east, sunlight flooded our room every mornin at 7 and its nearly impossible to stay put in the room in the mornings. Moonhouse restaurant across the street (must try for vegeterian food) also offers rooms for the same price, but they come with AC and private bathroom. Its closer to the metro (Lumphini) and maybe better off than this place.

Sala Thai GH offers very simple accomodation, but atmosphere is exceptional. 14 rooms on two storeys in total. 4 big rooms with air con. Roof garden and communal (TV) room. Price for small room is 250bht. Price for big room 300-400 bht.

Sala Thai Guesthouse is a lovely , cozy place in Bangkok to stay, nearby Lumpini Park. It's also near Lumpini underground station and a buss stop on Rama IV at Lumpini Tower. The owner and her staff are very lovely and helpful.

Many of Sala Thai's guests are long terms guests.

I have stayed in Sala Thai many times. First time was 1990. I always stay in Sala THai when I stay in that area of Bangkok.
