This is the third time I've visited this restaurant and it's consistently excellent. Recently we went with four children and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The best food here is obviously Thai, ask for the soft shell crab with garlic it's their speciality but not always shown on the menu. There were 8 of us and all the food was fantastic, they served the kids first, made things on special request and due to the heat allowed them to sit inside in the soft seating area while we enjoyed our dinner. The setting is right opposite Wat Arun which looks magnificent at night and the best seating is outside in the deck overlooking the river. Check out their rooftop area for some great photo opps.

Sala Arun is a great location if you want to see Wat Pho and The Grand Palace. It's right on the water so if you choose to eat there, you have a nice view of Wat Arun. There are a couple restaurants in walking distance but there isn't much to do in this area other than the previously mentioned places. The accommodations are decent and service is great. The food is pretty good here as well. They let us do a late check-out as we took the overnight train to Chiang Mai. We only stayed the one night but couldn't ask for much more.
