Our all-day Floating Market Tour with Bangkok Food Tours was one of the highlights of our trip. Our long day included 3 floating markets, the train market, a foot massage, about 15 food tastings throughout the day, a canal boat ride, a vist to a simple coconut sugar producer and some free time to shop. The day was packed with meaningful activities but they were interspersed with drives in an air-conditioned van so it was not exhausting.
Our guide, Ollie, spoke English well and was very informative. She willingly answered all our questions and she had some options as to what foods we would taste. Although the markets are popular tourist fare, the experience still seemed authentic and offered lots of insight into Thai cuisine. The train market, where a train actually moves through the middle of the maket 8 times a day, was my favorite. A little smelly though.
This tour is a must for all foodies visitin the Bangkok area.

We did the Bangrak tour, and really enjoyed it. We ate SO MUCH FOOD- wasn't hungry for 24 hours afterwards! We stopped at 6 places, and each one was unique and delicious. Our guide's English wasn't the best, but it didn't put a damper on the day at all. I highly recommend this tour.

A Thai friend of ours recommended Ayutthaya as a must see in Thailand. We had also been wanting to do a food tour, so this was the perfect combination. We weren't able to do the regular Thursday tour, and weren't really sure if we should pay the extra money for a private tour...we were so, so very happy we did decide to pay the extra and take the tour. This was most definitely a highlight of our trip. Very worthwhile.

Not only did we get to tour a fantastically beautiful and culturally rich city with a very interesting and knowledgeable guide, but we got to stuff our faces with unique and amazing food while doing it. It was 2 of the most wonderful aspects of traveling all rolled into one....all without the stress of having to research or plan anything. Even if we had been planning, I don't think we would have been able to find and put together a trip anywhere as good. There is a good reason Bangkok food tours is recommended by Lonely Planet...and me :)

Having been to Thailand heaps of times, we had never bothered to do anything like this, but as we had plenty of time over Christmas we decided to try 2 tours with this company;

The first was a night walking tour of the China Town area of Bangkok. It was great fun and our guide Guy was brilliant, extremely knowledgeable about the area and food and his English exceptional.
We sampled Dim Sum, noodle soup, fish, and duck cheeks.. along with a few different desserts. The area is packed and very busy so there is a bit of waiting around to get tables, however Guy muscled in and used his contacts so it wasn’t too bad.

If there is anything I could be critical of it would be there were too many sweet things to try and we were left feeling hungry after the tour had finished and had to have something to eat when we got back. You don’t get a full meal as it were, just bits and pieces. It was great fun and I’m glad we did it as it was something different to try.

The second tour was the ‘off beat floating markets’ This is supposed to be the real floating markets not the tourist ones. Again highly enjoyable, but in my opinion far too long, could have been trimmed down a bit.
You are collected at your hotel early in the morning and whisked off to the first sight. We visited one non floating market first with a train track right through it, complete with train. Amazing to see the stall holders quickly moving their produce out the way as it comes past!
Then on to Tha Kha floating market where you also take a boat ride, lunch at Bang Noi market, a temple in between, then lastly Amphawa floating market just outside of Bangkok. It was very nice however not nearly enough food again, most dishes you sample are shared, my boyf was starving. Also on the way back you hit the rush hour traffic, so it takes ages to get back into the city.
Overall great fun and enjoyable, but for us a bit overly long winded and not enough food.

I would recommend this company as they only take small groups of people, the prices are reasonable and the guides very knowledgeable and friendly.

We did the Bangrak tour in the morning and then the Chinatown tour in the evening, both tours were first class, but, don't do the 2 tours on the same day as we did! We couldn't eat for 2 days!

You learn all about Bangkoks hidden food gems as well as learn about cultural and historical aspects of the city. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it!
Our guides on both tours were friendly, knowledgeable and spoke very good English. On the Chinatown tour we had the best Pork Bun we have ever had anywhere in the world, that alone was worth the price of the tour!

These are great tours, we recommend them highly.
