Reviewed April 12, 2013

First of all, I was expecting a shoebox sized room. But upon arrival at 402, my wife and I both exclaimed - "Ay, It's not that small!" We weren't tripping over our stuff or anything like that. I've seen rooms in London that were smaller! Rooms were cozy, all appliances worked well. The layout of the room made the room seem even more spacious.

However, if you are suffering from jet lag, bring your eye shades coz the blinds don't black out the light, so it'll be hard to catch up on sleep. It's not all THAT bright, but don't expect an eclipse when you close the blinds, that's what i'm trying to say.

However, if you were travelling with friends of the opposite sex, this may not be a suitable hotel. Simply coz the bathroom and toilet do not have locks on the doors, and the doors are just glass and plastic, so you can see the outline of the person inside. Which, well, since I was with me wife, was just fine by me ;) heh heh..

Breakfast - Simple. Cereal, toast, fruits, juice and salad. Coffee tea..Choice of eggs, 1 serving of eggs per person..

Staff - Very friendly and helpful. The receptionist Got us into the lift, before running up 4 floors to get to our room before us to open the door for us. She thought it was impolite to take the lift with guests..we told her not to be silly and held the lift for her and insisted she take the lift with us the next day when she was moving a weighing scale upstairs and again refused to take the lift with us. She said it was not proper for us to be holding the lift and pressing buttons for her when she was a staff at the hotel. We told her - we're all human. hahaha..She got in:)

The In-house masseuse was also a delightful cheerful lady! She was most helpful and friendly!

Location. Let me tell you how to get there. Simple instructions. Tell the driver : Pratunam, Petchuburi (Pronounced PET-BULLY) Soi 15. Once you enter soi 15, go straight down until you see PERIOD HOTEL on your left. Take a left at PERIOD HOTEL. On this small side road, about 25m in, is a green wall of fake grass that says METZ HOTEL in white.

If you walk in from the main road, it's a 2-3min walk in. The other reviews which said it was FAR in and a horrid location - Untrue. it's easy.

* To Platinum Mall - Out soi 15, turn left, cross the overhead bridge outside soi 19.
* To Ratchthewi BTS - Out soi 15, turn right, cross overhead bridge. Walk straight down until you see the BTS station on your left.
* To Pratunam wholesale market : Ahhhhh...this one takes a bit of navigation and familiarity. Which comes with time. Tip - Look up, use Baiyoke sky tower as a guide, walk towards it. Remember route, repeat next day. hahahaha...oh come on, you're a tourist, get lost a lil'..

No 7-11s in the soi, so do get your own provisions on your way back. The only thing you have along the small soi are massage joints. Get the older masseuses, I got a young one (not my choice) and it was brute force. The massage joint where the masseuses wear pink looked the most presentable and my wife went there twice. That's also the one nearest to Metz.

The soi (lane) is very dark, and not advisable for ladies to walk around on their own.

Here's a tip for you if you are walking back in at night. Along soi 15, make a left at boxpackers hotel instead of PERIOD hotel. This turning is lighted and there's a guard (of sorts) here. Walk in, make a right at the ONLY exit in this area and walah! metz is on your left! If you take THIS route, you skip the rats running across the dark lane and annoying hustler taxi drivers outside Metz. If you don't mind both, then by all means.. :)

Ladies at the massage joint did advise my wife that soi 15 should not be walked alone by ladies coz of muggings.

To get back to the airport, the hotel staff will head out to the main road to get a cab in for you for a small fee of THB30.

Just 1 grouse - We put the "Do not disturb sign" and went out. When we returned, we found new bottles of water and our clothes on the bed had been moved. The housekeeping meant well, but...the sign says what we mean man..do not disturb. And not like they made the bed or anything, our clothes were just stacked neatly, and moved.

But all in all, I'd stay at Metz again without a doubt.

Sawadee!

Room Tip: Take the rooms in the centre...those numbered 2 I think.

I would not say the location is good as we have to take tuck-tucks all the time but it was definitely worth the price.Room was modern with big king-size bed but overlooking a wall which made room dark(can be advantage if you wanna sleep longer). Staff v.friendly and helpful. Defo worth the price.

We stayed here for 1.5 nights as we arrived in Bangkok in the early morning! The room was new and clean and provided us with all the amenities that were needed. The hotel can be a bit tricky to find but our taxi driver from the airport seem to have found it easily. The location of the hotel is quite convenient as it is very close to Pratunam markets and Platinum Mall which both provided us with a large variety of delicious local Thai dishes! It is also about a 10-15min walk to the nearest BTS station (Ratchathewi) which you can take into the city which is only about 15minutes away via skytrain.

Tucked inside small lane in Pratunam market area, this budget hotel can be little tricky to locate. It's on a small lane on the left when you walk into Phethburi Road Soi 15, about 5-6 mins-walk from Phetburi main street. The room is basic yet clean with free wifi and complimentary two bottled water daily. Would not recommend it for friends unless you don't mind silhouetting during shower/WC at the bathroom and the toilet are just separated from the room with frosted glass panels.
Conveniently located in Pratunam market area, about 10 mins walk to Platinum, which another 10 mins walk you could reach CentralWorld/Big C supermarket.
Front desk staff are helpful and approachable when you need assistance. When i asked for taxi service to DMK AirAsia airport, the front desk staff walked out to the main road to flag a taxi driving into the hotel to fetch us. Paid THB 187 + THB 60 (toll fees) for the taxi to airport, which took less than 30 mins, on Wednesday late morning.

Stayed here for 4days 3 nights. Location is very bad. Having trouble to find the location as it is deep inside alley. Even tuk tuk drivers have trouble finding hotel.
Washroom glass door was poorly fixed and the sliding glass door fall apart. I had to even hold onto glass door till someone arrive to fix it.Imagine how dangerous if glass door were to hit anyone. Despite calling up for servicing the sliding glass door, same problem still lies.
Staff weren't really fantastic too.
Would not go back to this hotel anymore.

We stayed here for a night after arriving from Koh Tao. Our plan was to stay nearest to Platinum Mall so we could do last minute shopping before flying home. It was a little difficult for our taxi driver to find the hotel and the signage was rather small. But lucky we spotted it and we made it to the hotel! We were offered a welcome drink (Bird's nest I think? Super yummy!) and were brought to our room. It was really nice modern and cosy room. I loved the lemongrass shampoo and lavender body wash so much!

Unfortunately in the morning, we were awaken by renovations from the nearby buildings. So we headed out to find our way to Platinum Mall. It was say about less than 10min walk? We left our luggages with the front office with no charge. When it was time to leave, we knew it would be at least 20-30 mins walk to the airport link and we had a lot of stuff to carry. Taxis cost 500baht if you book through the hotel. We decided to take a short walk out to grab a taxi. We got it for 400baht with toll, I figured we could have gotten it to 300baht if it wasn't peak period.

Overall, the staff were very kind and polite :)

Room Tip: Ask for a room furthest from the renovations around the area

Staff were really helpful and friendly in arranging transportation for us and providing us with directions.

Room was comfortable enough for 2. The shower and toilet was seperate, sink was outside of the toilet was well, which was good so my friend and i didnt have to wait for one another to use whichever facilities.

Location is slightly off the main street, massage palours nearby as well. May be abit hard to locate at first, but once familiar with the area, shouldnt be a problem. 7-11 nearby.

Hotel is value for money. Have recommended this hotel to all my friends since.
