The main location of the hotel is great. Taxis and TukTuks are easily available. MRT / BTS station is a short walk away. Shopping centres are also near to the hotel which is located on the busy Petchaburi Road. I could not sleep well. Hotel breakfast / food was poor and not so tasty. But it's cheap hotel.

Traveled from Bangkok Airport to Pay thai on the express train. Took a cab to the Hotel( 50 bhats) . I requested an early check in and the staff accommodated it without any problem. But it is a suspense as they don't respond to mails. Good location. Price is good : 1090 Bhats for a single room. Air conditioned. Breakfast is good. Not the usual exotic stuff of 5 star places, but still quite nice. The travel desk is fair in its prices. Free Wi Fi and 30 minutes internet free daily at the reception.

Stayed for 4 nights in a double room with king size bed. Took the airport rail link to phaya thai for 45baht. Then connect to bts to ratchathewi for 15 baht. A 5 min walk will take u to bangkok city hotel. MBK, siam centre, paragon is only a mile away. Heading west is pratunam and platinum which is also abt a mile. Avoid the taxi n tuk tuk - they will try to fleece u. Hotel is clean, good service, helpful staff, good buffet b'fast n a nice but small swimming pool to break the boredom. Chen family tour in the hotel is very helpful n reliable. Booked a private car to Ayutthaya for a whole day only for 2000baht. Also took their car to airport for 400 baht. 7eleven is on the left.
Great food in the hotel restaurant and cost slightly more than the street food stalls. Try the tom yam prawns and the different types of fried rice. Very yummy. Free wifi and internet service for only 30 minutes at the lobby. At abt US40 a night, it's a good deal for a new hotel. Will return whenever I go 2bangkok.

Room Tip: Well, I stayed on the 9th floor. No complaint.

We stayed for 3 nights on the 10th floor, very nice hotel near everything you need to see in Bangkok. 5 minutes walk to Ratchathewi BTS, you can even walk about 10 minutes to go to MBK or Siam centers. 10 minutes in taxi from all the Temples, for the location this hotel worth the price. The room was very clean, comfortable and stylish look, the staff was very nice, but they speak little English, don't count on them for information. We really like the pool at the 5th floor, again, very clean. Washing and drying machine available, a must if you are traveling light. Free WiFi, but you have to ask for a password everyday. We paid 1190thb/night. Breakfast was very good and good variety.
We highly recommend. Certainly going back again.

the first impression i got about the hotel is that it luks very much like its pictures on their website!!thast a gud start right there..i had a twin room and it was very spacious and clean.the bathroom has all basic amenities such as soap/shampoo and even shower caps.
the beds are quite comfy..the only negative thing is that there only 2english channels and those are mostly about news..no movies or if there are movies they are very very late at night!!!
there should be more english channels to chose from..but still the lcd tv is ok.

another negative is the room service menu..the food aren,t so nice..not tasty!!i once aordered a meal and then cudnt eat it.the breakfast is ok,but u shud have it early when its still hot and the sitting area is not packed!!

the swimming pool is also a plus for most people.its clean.

the location is gud,you can walk to platinum mall..takes about 10mins or u can go by tuktuk abt 5mins..there is a 7eleven just next door,(on yr left)which is convenient as its open 24hrs.there is also a thai massage place (on yr right)..quite affordable..they also do manicures.
the hotel staff were nice enough ..some cant speak english though but u can find others to help out.
ps..there is a deposit for the room key when you check in..100thb..this can come in handy to pay your taxi when you check out..or even the train.

i enjoyed the train ride from the airport to the city..i got off at the last station and then took a taxi to the hotel..cost much much less that taking a taxi all the way.train is 45thb.

id recommend this hotel to everyone

HOTEL : Bangkok City Hotel is about 2 yrs old and is located along the very busy Petchaburi Road. It is always busy with group tours and lots of luggage at the lobby. We stayed here for 4 nights on a 19th floor room overlooking Petchaburi Rd. My double room is medium sized with a decent toilet and shower bath. The bed linen and toilet are clean. There are 3 lifts ( incl the service lift ) and they worked very well. The front desk staff are polite but they are not so responsive – maybe to English speaking patrons. Here, you must deposit 100 bht for each access card. They will refund the amount when you check out. I have seen other muslim family from Malaysia with children patronising this hotel. We always meet them at Soi 7 for their meals.

TRANSPORT : – Use the sky train to go anywhere. They are very reliable - punctual, quiet and comfortable. The airport link train ride is a worthwhile experience – cheap and fast in traffic congested Bangkok City.
Hotel is About 10 mins walk to the nearest BTS Rachathewi Stn where you can go to BTS Siam, BTS Nana or BTS Asoke. From BTS Siam you need to change train to National Stadium/MBK. Shopping is our main focus. We went to Patunam area/road side stalls using the non aircon bus taken from the station opposite side of the overhead bridge ( 6 bht for 2 persons ). Try to get your souvenirs here. It is cheaper than MBK. We also visited Indra Market and had lunch at the food court on level 3. Only one halal stall here selling Yellow chicken rice ( 45 bht ). Across the road is Platinum Fashion Mall. During the weekend, after breakfast, walk to the Phaya Thai condo and take the skytrain at Phaya Thai Station to Mo Chit Stn where Chatuchak market is located. Note : Hail the tuk tuk or taxi from the street infront of the hotel if you need one. They will start with 100 or 200 bht. The refund from the access card is useful if you need the money to your Tuk Tuk to Phya Thai BTS (40 bht ) and Airport Link from Phya Tai to Airport (45 bht ).

FOOD : Hotel breakfast/food is non halal. They serve pork. We took the overhead bridge near the 7 Eleven and went across the road into SOI 7 where Darul Aman Mosque is located. A lot of street vendors here selling Halal food e.g. roti prata ( 10 bht ) , sticky rice ( pulut ) with fried chichen/garlic ( 25 – 30 bht ) , rice/vege/gravy ( 50 – 60 bht ) , Thai breakfast noodle with egg. On Friday morning, there are more Halal food vendors selling Chicken/Beef Biryani ( 45 bht ), big prata ( 30 bht ). Wash down with coffee. Tea, milo etc.
After 7 pm, the street here comes alive. After you get down from the overhead bridge, a Muslim girl sells sliced mangoes ( 30 bht per fruit ) and further down before SOI 7 a young Muslim couple selling halal ice cream ( 30 bht per scoop ). At the junction of Soi 7 is the stall selling roti prata ( 10 bht ), beef murtaba ( 30 bht ) and Teh Tarik/with cows milk ( 20 bht ). Seat always full of youngsters. Walk into the lane and you can get Ramly burger and I tried Mdm Sarah’s beef ball noodle ( 30 bht ) and tomyam ( 50 bht ) from a makan shop. There are others selling so called Halal food during the day and night along Petchburi Rd before Soi 7 but they are Chinese owned.
We also visited Nana Soi 5 and Soi 7 and there are a lot of restaurants selling Indian, Arab, Yemen food. This area is predominantly Arab and Pakistani. Nothing mush to shop here. One big restaurant is Hussein but this place is rather expensive. We found one reasonable restaurant which has a big lighted numbered board selling set meals (180 bht per set ) – just before Hussein Restaurant if you enter by way of Soi 7. They have Patani Muslim food here.

PROBLEMS : :
1) Do not take the recommended tour company from the Airport arrival hall. They coax you with offers/discounts for the period. This is actually a city and temple tour - not that good. You can take the aircon public bus from the bus station infront of 7 Eleven and it only cost you less than 10 baht. The lady also advised me to drop off the Transit train at Rajprapop Station. This is inaccurate. You must drop at Phya Thai as recommended by other travellers in Tripadvisor. This is very near to the hotel.
2) Beward of the Tuk Tuk. One driver took us from Rajprapop BTS but after going some distance, told us that he was not going that way. We came down with our luggage and had to hail several taxis before we get one nice guy to take us. Every Tuk Tuk or taxi driver will use his fingers to denote 1 for 100 bht or 2 to denote 200 baht. You must always respond with 30 baht and bargain.

SUGGESTION : Maybe the hotel management can turn this into a Halal hotel to attract more muslims to stay here.

Room Tip: Take a room on the 19th floor overlooking the Petchaburi Road. The scenary is beautiful after 7.00 p...

Nice location with walking distance to the Ratchathewi MRT station and Phaya Thai station which station to airport with costTHB45.00 per person. We book a family room for 01 queen + 01 single bed. Room very spacious and clean with comfortable bed. However the bathtub tap water is broke when press the button to switch to the shower. The shower curtain needed during the shower. The whole floor will get wet. The front liner Bell boy and Receptionist is very kind and helpful.
