Firstly I commend Fergus_nz's thorough review to you. I give the hotel 3 stars over his 2 because some of the issues raised did not bother me as much. The hotel is clean and excellent value. The free breakfast is very ordinary but free. I was not bothered by any sirens. Work was being carried out on the hotel at the time but it was not noisy when we were there. The beds do sway, even on level 2, and the internet access is irritating.
The location is terrible. It is a long enough walk to the train station to warrant a taxi ride. The hotel is in the Bermuda triangle of bangkok - almost all of our taxi drivers had no idea where it was, even when using the taxi card the hotel provides with the address written in Thai on it. The surrounding neighborhoods are useful only to instil in you a sense of gratefulness for the blessing of being born in your home country and not the stinking streets of poverty which you will walk to the train line.
It is a good option if affordability, safety and comfort override convenience and accessibility in your considerations. But in a sprawling city like bangkok, I would look for other options before staying here again.More
