Had a great dinner at soul food. Interesting twist on Thai, with great drinks :) staff were also friendly and the crowd eating at the restaurant was cool.

Located on Soi Thong Lor / Sukhumvit 55, Soul Food is convenient a brief 5-minute walk from the Thong Lor BTS. Having been recommended here by a colleague, I dropped the establishment an email to reserve a table for dinner, and the response was prompt and warm.

The restaurant was dimly lit, which molds well with the intended mood and cozy setting of the establishment. Service was attentive and the food was served without much wait. The place was not very packed, but we were there at 8pm and people were steadily coming in, and with reservations.

We had the recommended Sticky Tamarind Ribs and the Flank Steam Nahm Tok as mains, and they lived up to expectations set by the previous reviewers. The steak was deeply infused with Thai herbs and spices, and could require an acquired taste, as between two of us one of us liked it but the other disagreed.

All in all an excellent venue for a chill night out with a group of friends or loved ones. Looking forward to delightful new creations in the future from the crew behind Soul Food!

Ate here for our wedding anniversary, we wanted Thai food but with a 'little extra'. We were not disappointed. It is a small restaurant, (booking advised) so you will be close to others but to be honest, after the food arrives you don't notice! The pomelo salad and ribs were my favourite, would like to return with a bigger group so that we could try more dishes! The cocktails were very good - and strong! Service was quick and friendly - we will definitely return!

Having travelled in Thailand extensively, and usually opting for more, 'authentic,' restaurants, we decided to visit Soul Food on the basis of TA reviews. Overall, I would really recommend this place.

I know a few of the reviews have been negative as they felt that the restaurant caters to a Western clientele however I don't really see why this is an issue. I would liken this to many of the smarter Thai restaurants in the UK, notably Chaophraya if you're familiar with the Northern chain. As the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," and Soul Food is certainly spot on with delivering a more classy style of Thai food that is often favoured by those looking for something a bit more special.

We ate crispy catfish salad, prawn skewers, lamb pad krapow, chiang mai style noodles and mango sticky rice. This was washed down with a bottle of singha and a lemongrass gin Collins and cost us about 30quid. This is relatively expensive for Thailand but you could expect to pay more than double for a similar quality in the UK. I should say that everything was great except for the catfish salad, as we expected deep fried fish but got something that was more like deep fried breadcrumbs.

The ambience was pretty nice, as is the decor, with retro Asian film posters on the wall. Don't go expecting a, 'true taste of Thailand,' but expect something that is pretty delicious in its own right. I think they have a winning formula.

I had dinner here with 5 friends on a Wed in July.

We had about 9 dishes and everything was superb, the sea bass with green peppercorn, the minced chicken, and crab fried rice were especially memorable.

The atmosphere was crowded, bustling, lively, and fun. The bar was also quite crowded. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a quiet night out but for a casual bite and drinks with friends, its awesome.

Oh and Ryan Gosling was spotted here a few times when he was in town filing Only God Forgives. I thought that was pretty cool.
