“An Oasis in Dirty Bangkok”

This hotel is brand new so I will not discuss the few teething issues as they are trivial. Instead I will rave about the comfy bed, yummy breakfast and brilliant location. I hate Bangkok at the best of times but this trip made me look outside the square. Being a little out from the tourist strip is a blessing. One monorail station takes you to great cheap clothes and food stalls or go a few stops more for the designer stuff.
I chose this location as I took a cheap mini bus to kanchanaburi. It cost 120 baht and leaves from victory monument. Ask around because all the signage is in Thai!!
For the first time I can actually say I'm looking forward to returning to Bangkok!!

I chanced upon All Seasons Bangkok Victory Monument online. There were no reviews from Trip Advisor yet since they just opened this month but basing on the few pictures available on their website, it looked okay.

1. Price - The hotel is very affordable priced at 25 SGD (800 PHP) per person per day. It's an all inclusive hotel so breakfast is included in the price. It even comes with free and strong WiFi.

2. Location - The MRT station (Sanam Pao) is just about 2 minutes away. Siam station where Siam Paragon is is only 4 stations away and the very vibrant Silom night life is about 6 stations away. By cab, going to Silom is just about 80-100 THB (115-140 PHP), going to Jatujak weekend market is just 50 THB (70 PHP). The airport is quite near but I'm not sure how much the fare is if one is to take a cab since we rented a big taxi so we can all fit in with our luggage; We were charged 700 THB (1,000 PHP) one way.

3. Rooms - I didn't have high expectations with the room given the price but I was pleasantly surprised. It was quite spacious compared to other budget rooms that I looked at. The bed was comfortable, there was a sufficient number of power plugs, a safe is available, a decent sized closet and a refrigerator.

4. Breakfast - Selections are quite limited but I can't complain. It does it job of filling you before you head out and start your day.

They have a selection of breads and danish, a couple of warm dishes, an egg station, fruit and yogurt selections, salad bar, cereals and drinks.

When reading this review, please bear in mind it's NEW ie five-days old as at 21 Jan 2011.

I'm an Accor Member and decided to take advantage of the intro offer at this spanking new 3-star hotel.

Decor and outlook is very modern. Very spacious, comfortable lobby ... makes guests feel like lingering.

Rooms : Like other BKK All Seasons, room size is conservative, but well thought-out, maximising use of of space.

Best of all, the beds! Everyone in our party of seven slept well! We love your pillows.

Shower Room : Black wall tiles is chic. Basic amenities which is adequate. Pooling occurs in shower stall on the floor, needs rectification.

Free WiFi : Always appreciated.

Dislike : Housekeeping forgot to place a waste basket and "Do Not Disturb" sign in the room

Buffet Breakfast : Fairly good choice for a 3-star hotel. Like the egg station. Simpple but nice salads served.

Location/Distance : Four stops from Siam Centre, three stops in the other direction to Mo Chit ... this hotel is going to be a hot property for Chatuchak fans, two stops to Big C. Public buses aplenty going to Siam Square, Pratunam etc. Simply, very easy to access attractions. Also, plenty of food stalls and open-air shopping area within walking distance.

Small pool/gym for those in need of a dip/exercise.

Will be back ... and hope improvements will be in place by then, with all minor kinks ironed out. This property has HUGE potential.
