“Best Swiss Experience in BKK”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

The simple restaurant offers some of the best recipes of the Swiss cuisine. Attentive to details and fairly quiet and private atmosphere, this place has very delicious breads, great meat and the usual CH sausages and cheeses. I recommend to anyone wanting a Swiss experience.

“a hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

As other reviewers have said this restaurant not easy to find. It sits in a small alley directly behind the Robinsons department store Sukhumvit Road. It is well worth a little sidetrip, and my wife and i try to go at least once on every trip to Bangkok . We were taken there originally by some German friends a couple of years ago. The style is home cooking with a Swiss/German bias, the menu is simple with some variety offered with daily specials. The quality, though, is first rate. For me its the kind of restaurant you want as your local, good food, generous portions ,a little old style and always reliable. It is also a bakery and expect a basket of wonderful fresh baked bread with your meal. Well worth a visit and a true hidden gem in Bangkok!

“Best typical German Swiss Restaurant of Bangkok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

Although my review title my be a bit overstated, I went twice to the place on my last bangkok trip and it was totally worth it!

Pros:
Delicious german/swiss food, especially the fondue! La vraie fondue fribourgeoise!
Good bread and some salted-butter to go with: yummy!
Try the italian white wine, quite fruity and young
Very nice owner, caring about customer satisfaction.
Location is central
We thought it was correctly priced

Cons:
Decoration could be better: the "cave-style" decoration outside is quite lame
The place is in a kind of back-alley

“Where the Swiss expats meet for typical Swiss/German food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2010

Grottino located in the first Soi behind Robinson department store offers Swiss specialities like e.g. cheese fondue and other perfectly prepared Swiss/German dishes. The service staff is friendly but their English language skills are weak, and their attitude is not to disturb the guests so don’t expect to be asked for another drink. However, one of the owners is always at hand if guests require translation skills. There is an outdoor section for the smokers and the mostly Swiss regulars have their own round table there to discuss politics, business and other important issues. The owners operate a hotel and a bakery in the same building.
