“Excellent Modern Hotel in Central Bangkok”
Reviewed April 8, 2012

Good points
Very large room with separate lounge and large Apple tv.
Bed fantastic really comfy and had a very good night sleep.
Fantastic view of the British Embassy.
lovely toiletries Moulton and Brown
Very central location

Bad Points

Came back from busy very hot tiring day at 4.00pm to find the cleaner only just started cleaning room so asked him to finish and leave asap just needed to refresh etc before going out to a show.

Breakfast room on 8th floor was tiny and struggled to cope with the guests and sit them all down in fact elderly gentleman and his son had to wait whilst other folks finished.

Room Tip: overlooking the british embassy are nice lots of lights at nights

We stayed at this hotel first in September 2011 followed by a second visit April 2012 - I notice how busier it is getting as the secret is out.....

We took a grand room on our first 5 day visit followed by a standard room for our second trip (there's little difference).

The rooms are spacious with seperate lounge, walk in robe and large bathroom and both had excellent views of the downtown area. Clean, quality furnishings and very attentive staff.

Infinity pool on 8th floor great too..apple tv to both bedroom and lounge outstanding and real distinguishing feature of this hotel.

Location excellent being near Ploenchit BTS for sky train and halfway between shopping at Siam/Pratunam and the bars, etc of Sukhummvit.

Appears the hotel has reacted to earlier comments that breakfast service could improve by implementing some staff and service style changes to improve the only fault I could find. Really am struggling to find fault with the hotel, please keep up the good work Sivatel, maintain your standards without getting carried away and increasing your rates and you'll be #1 on trip advisor in no time....

Room Tip: Take a base/standard room. Has all you need and more......

This very new hotel conversion from an apartment block is located second from the sky train stations and only one stop on the sky train from retail therapy paradise in downtown Bangkok.

The infinity pool with a spa area, gym and restaurants on the 8th floor were all excellent and the view from the pool at sunset just magical ( and great cocktails served to your lounger. Even better was the view from my room and bathroom on the 27th floor.

We had a two bedroom suite with two huge bathrooms and a very spacious living room. We had three interactive TVs with internet access via remote from your bed or sofa and all sorts of high tech goodies.

One drawback was the rather random times for room cleaning - anything between 8 am and 6 pm abut the service was good.

I was rather taken aback when, having stayed in bed with a dodgy tummy while my friend went out exploring, an older woman let herself into my room accompanied by two large young blokes in street clothes. As this was outr first day I thought it was just room service and was a bit puzzled by the way they scuttled out and then had a big huddle in the corridor for more than 10 minutes. In retrospect the next day i realised they were not hotel staff as they did not knock or remove their shoes when entering our foyer - as all other staff did during the rest of our stay. As this hotel is above an office block you might need to make sure you are vigilant about security - I had a ring disappear from my room sometime during a time when we were in the lounge room one evening and service staff were in and out fixing the computer. Didn't realise it until later.

Room Tip: We had a regent suite on the 27th floor in the corner - views over 180 degrees above Bangkok were sp...

Thess are the likes and dislikes of my hotel stay:

1) Luxurious comfy room- Room was a huge suite. 80 sqm. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The bed was one of the largest & most comfortable I have ever slept in in all my travels.
An oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city. Wonderful place to go back to after a day of shopping.
2) Staff very friendly and provided service akin to a Thai resort, even though this was a city hotel. They would smile and greet you, and were prompt in meeting requests, like when I asked for ice or assistance.
3) I also asked about a DVD player in the room before arrival, and the staff took the initiative to fix up one In the room for me without extra charges (I did not ask for it to be installed).
4) Very tech-savvy. They use Apple TV and Internet TV in the room. Room has 2 sets. One in the living room and one in the bedroom.
Room also has an iPod dock. V useful.
5) Location of hotel is abt 1 min walk from the Pleonchit BTS Skytrain station. That is 1 stop away from Chitlom station (central world, Amarion plaza, Gaysorn) and 2 stops away from Siam station ( Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery).
Sky Lounge is a relaxing place to chill out and sip afternoon tea and read.

1) Fixed shower head in bathroom. Would be good if there was a flexible shower head. Easier to shower.

2) Cable TV channels on Apple TV not very clear. Hotel should upgrade to a higher generation of Apple TV and check clarity of programmes shown. No point having so many channels but all are unclear

3) Location of hotel is convenient in that it is v near a BTS station. Unfortunately , it is located in a commercial district therefore there are very few restaurants or food courts within walking distance of the hotel. Nearest one is one sky train station away at Chitlom.

4) Breakfast spread is very average. Almost the same spread everyday. But at least they have an omelette station where you can order eggs.

I stayed in this hotel in the beginning of March, based on the reviews on TA. I usually stay in the Peninsula but as I was on my own I though I would try a less expensive and modern hotel. Bangkok is awash with great hotels at very reasonable prices and this is no exception.

The car pickup at the airport was tardy. There was no indiaction at which gate their represenative would be and it took me a while to find her. Then it was an even longer wait for the car. The car was a Camry and not in great condition. No cold water or cold towels that I have become accustomed too in Thailand upon arrival at a 5 star hotel.

The hotel is in a good location as its a 3 minute walk from Prom Chit skytrain staton. Its about a 5 minute walk to Central shopping plaza.

Its located in a new high rise offcie style building. This makes the entrance into it rather inocuous without any real street presence. You need to take an escalator up a floor to the elevators and then to the 17th floor to check in. But that's it's only real lack of 5 star attibutes. The lobby is modern and has a great city view, overlooking the British Embassy and its park as well as the Swiss Embassy. Next to the British embassy is a huge private garden owned by an individual and next door is the Swissotel and it's gardens, so the view is currently very pleasant. There is a larg high rise being built that will change some of the future view.
The check in was efficient and fast. The elevators are all security carded so it's impossible to get to a room without your room key. I had a 2 room suite. Very large by most hotel standards. It consisted of a living room with a flat screen and good seating area. The bedroom also had a flat screen and a great king bed with an excellent pillow selection available. The bathroom was very large with a deep corner tub and large seperate shower. Only one basin was a drawback if you are a couple of people. Also a good sized walk in robe. Good amenities were provided as well. The bathroom had a window with blind between the bedroom so if you were taking a bath you could look out at the city skyline.
The room view was great with a window between the living room and the bedorrom allowing for a full 180 degree view.
The airconditioning was a bit haphazard and a bit loud, even on low speed fan. The only real criticism is the crazy lighting swithes. There are lights everywhere and it takes a while to figure out which switch works what as well as where they switches are hidden. Rooms were very quite and I was on 18th floor, which is the first floor of rooms.
The breakfast restaurant was on 8th floor by the pool. Whilst the breakfast selection was good, it was not great by Bangkok standrads at the top 5 star hotels. However there was a choice of European and Asian dishes as well as an egg cooking station. Breakfast coffee, as in all bangkok hotels, was average. Jams were served in those terrible little one serve plastic containers. A let down easily resolved by management.
The pool was just OK. Modern with a view over the city from the 8th floor. Very few lounge chairs and no real shade to relax in. The gym was modern although small. Had good machines though limited in number.
I have stayed in better hotels in bangkok over the years but this provides comfort and a modern room at a very reasonable price. I paid around A$165 a night inc breakfast.
I stayed only 3 nights as I decided to move to the Swissotel across the road. A different hotel I have reviewed it also.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the British embassy as it gives a great city view.

I am due to check out tomorrow after a four night stay. My room is lovely and hotel staff are helpful and polite.

The room itself is spacious and comfortable, I particularly like the bed and the dining table near the window, it is very romantic.

The main problems I have are that in their advertising the hotel stated there was a sports bar and an Asian restaurant. They have bothed closed. There is another restaurant onsite besides The Porch called Le Jardin Cafe, I don't like to complain but the food there was terrible and many things on the menu were unavailable, maybe it was my choice. The staff were very helpful though and made a nice margarita. It was the worst meal I have had in Asia.

There is also not anywhere close by to eat you have to take a cab or sky train.

Breakfast was nice and the pool is lovely. Would I stay here again, maybe.

Room Tip: I was on the 25 th floor no noise what so ever I actually slept until 10.30 one day as the block out...
