“Fantastic Unknown Gem in Bangkok”
Reviewed September 10, 2011

Booked a Grand Regal Suite at the Sivatel for 1 week in late August through Hotels.com. Hotel employees are friendly, polite, and helpful as are most Thai people! Hotel lobby is on the 17th floor, a bit confusing at first but check in was efficient. Room was really comfortable, bed was incredible, bath huge, living room with separate TV and desk, and a minibar/coffee area. 40" flat screens with Apple TV lets you surf the internet on the TV. Very addicting! Had a burning plastic smell fill the room one morning and the staff responded quickly, finding one of the circuit breakers in the room had begun to melt.

Definitely book breakfast with the room, it is worth it. Lovely restaurant on the 8th floor next to the pool called The Porch. Never crowded, smallish buffet with cooked to order eggs and both Western and Asian dishes.

The pool itself is great, never crowded with plenty of loungers and towels. Ordered food and drink from the Porch to eat by the pool. Staff goes out of their way to make sure you have everything you need.

Did not make use of the Spa or the gym, but both looked really nice.

Ate at the sports bar Big-A-Byte several times. Very good with extremely friendly servers. Also had ice cream/desserts and coffee in the Cafe Jardin in the late evening. Very handy to have a nice place to relax after late night activities.

We were here on business as were most guests in the hotel. Not a touristy place at all. Location is right across the street from the British Embassy and next door to the Swiss Embassy. 5 minute walk to the Ploen Chit BKS station, which gives you access to just about anywhere you need or want to go.

Hotel is relatively new and most people are not familiar with it. I don't think it will stay that way for long! If we are lucky enough to return to Bangkok in the future, this will always be my go-to hotel!

Room Tip: Book through Hotels.com or Agoda, they had the best deals.

We booked through 'late-rooms' and received a phenomenal discount. We stayed in a regal suite for under 4000 baht. This rate included a buffet breakfast with a wide range of delicious dishes to choose from.
The room was just amazing, very modern and minimal but comfortable. The bed was difficult to get out of - sleeping here was just heavenly! Bathtub was big enough for two with a gorgeous view.
Can't say enough about the staff - they were so helpful and friendly.
Really like the modern style TV ' workstation'in room. had a whole entertainment system - including tv, interent, movies, music, room service and we found the Bill view function great.
The otel had a 'happy honeymoon' cake and fruit plate waiting for us upon arrival, which were both delicious!

Room Tip: check online for discounts

We booked through expedia.com and spent 3 nights at the Grand Regal Suite on Jun 29 - Jul 1. I have been to Bangkok for vacation many times and like to try out new hotel. Thanks to the reviews on Tripadvisor we picked this new hotel! Maybe it is too new, the taxi driver and even the staff at the airport has no idea where it is! I tried to explain it is formerly Holiday Mansion, most taxi driver knows if you tell them opposite to Swissotel Nai Lek Part/British Embassy. Phloen Chit Skytrain station is just round the corner. It is about 6-7 minutes walk Central Dept Store Chitlom and less than 15 minutes to Central World and Big C Supermarket.

We were greeted and escorted to 17/F to check in and then to the room and was introduced the room facilities (how to use the apple tv and ipod docking station, where are the light switches and safe etc). Their service was detailed and personalized as they turned on the air-conditioning prior to our arrival and the tv was on showing a welcome message with our names. You can also choose your preferred pillows from their pillow menus. We are entitled to the daily cocktail at the 17/F lounge but didn't get a chance to try.

The room was spacious and practically designed. Big bathtub, 2 washing basins, walk-in closet, comfy beds, separate TV+appletv set for bedroom and living room so one person can surf the Internet and another one can watch TV! The only 2 things that need improvement are- 1. better if they have Nespresso coffee machine and more tea variety, 2. the shower head (or water pressure?) was really weak so as the drainage...

The semi-buffet breakfast was good but not fabulous, but again the service is excellent. Tried the set lunch at big-a-byte restaurant. The salad buffet was simple and just average, but the spaghetti was yummy! I guess you can't ask for more for only B190 nett.

The hotel was quite empty so you can relax and enjoy your breakfast without "fighting" for food and waiting to be seated like other popular tourist hotels. We swam in the mornings and it was like our private pool for most of the time! We didn't use the gym but it looks well equipped. Used the steam room and it's free for hotel guest.

We were really satisfied with the room, hotel facilities and their excellent service!

This was our first trip to Bangkok and saw this hotel on Expedia. Im so happy I chose this hotel over the countless others that we could choose from. It has the perfect location, only a few minutes away from the Skytrain which could bring you to almost all touristy destinations within Bangkok or connect you to another form of transport to practically every touristy destination within Bangkok. The rooms were big, clean, modern, and well kept. The thing that caught my eye was the fact that they just opened in Feb. 2011 so I knew it would still be brand new. I loved that bathtub in our room, almost like a mini jacuzzi in a way. The rooms are decorated very simplistic, modern, with a slight Thai touch. The staff were quite friendly and helpful although some I felt were still learning the ropes. They always had a smile on their faces though. I felt they were really honest because one day we left our safe open, they locked my safe and left me a letter to meet with the assistant manager who than told me the new combonation and listed everything inside the safe to ensure nothing was missing. That was a big plus. The hotel had a good selection of restaurants and food choices. Breakfast was good not amazing. At times the hotel felt empty. Im guessing since it's not well known, people have yet to really try it out. People from the airport and tour agencies did not even know where it was or that it existed, but I am sure that will change soon. The bathroom had a good range of amenities that smelt great. The room was equipped with two TV's each with an Apple TV that had a built in web browser so if you forget your laptop, you can atleast do some internet browsing. The restaurants had good food and like I said a pretty wide selection from Thai to pizza to burgers to cakes and desserts. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is one of the best hotel that I have stayed in bangkok. The room is huge and I really like the spacious toilet. I lespecially love the relax atmosphere when I enjoyed the breakfast every morning. It is a easy 5 mins stroll to Ploenchit BTS which is only 2 BTS away from all the shopping action.

Travelling intensively for business and private all over the world and visiting over 30 hotels a year, this hotel was truely an amazing and refreshing experience. We've only stayed here for 3 nights but it felt like so much longer.

The hotel is brand new. just three months, this is a big plus when you look at the state of the art technology used and the luxerious interior. The gym is good and the view from the infinity pool is just fantastic. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the value for money is incredible.

I will certainly come back if I visit Bangkok again. Perfect place to stay when in BKK on business, with friends or alone.
