It just seemed like an intersection for traffic crossroads, heavily residential i did not come across anything special here but there are local things like eateries.

Wongwian Yai is the center of the Thonburi side of Bangkok quite near the Millennium Hilton Hotel and is a busy intersection during most of the day. In the middle of the roundabout stands a statue of King Taksin, the founder of this capital before Bangkok

Over the years, the Wongwian Yai area has been dumped on by Bangkokians as both crowded (it used to be, but not as much now that BTS goes there) and nothing special (they're right in a strictly entertainment.monument/destination sense), but I am happy that both those impressions persist, because the place is a wonderful glimpse of normal Bangkok city life, and also a place to shop for authentic food stuffs, ordinary household goods us tourists would find fascinating (hand tools, cooking implements, hardware stores, etc.) and small family restaurants that are nearly uniformly good. There is a growing list of modest and good hotels there, and it makes a great base for a long-term business assignment in BKK. You can walk safely at any time (true for the whole of BKK, but I'd let my wife walk there at 3:00am without worry). The people are friendly in a classic Thai sense, but also because they do not see so many Falang there as elsewhere in the city. It is easy to join in the local friendly atmosphere, and you'll feel it is like a home away from home quickly. One of my favorite neighborhoods in BKK.

Good for a monthly visit to look for stuff.... The fresh market is great and you can find interesting stuff on the side streets
