We stayed here on our way both to and from Myanmar. The rooms are excellent, the prices are fair, the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Highly recommended- we travelled with our parents and they were very satisfied (particularly after the accommodation we had in Myanmar!). We were even upgraded to a better room due to a booking error which was nice. The one difficulty is that while it's in an great location for many of the sights in Bangkok, taxi and tuk tuk drivers don't seem to be able to locate it well. Personally, i'd come back here next time i'm in Bangkok.

Wonderful hotel in a very busy part of Bangkok - walking distance to many attractions, shopping, a couple of 7-11s down the street, and a post office - what more could you want? Service is excellent, food is delicious - I was there with a group of vegans and they were extremely accommodating. Down the street, not even a half a block, is the famous Johnnie's Gems, an iconic jewelry store.

Set in what looks like an old school building, staying here is like going back in time before Bangkok became modernised. Rather overpriced, and the standard of the breakfast was rather basic, but the rooms were nicely designed and surrounded a nice courtyard.

I agree with other reviewers that this place is hard to find, and I needed to rely on Google maps to guide taxis to it, if they would go at all.

This hotel is hidden in old city, converted from an old building with courtyard, which has a nice garden and ponds. The staffs are friendly and helpful. There are not too many options for the breakfast, but they all taste good (of course, you can get many other options outside at lower price). Conveniently located, within walking distance to the grant palace. The room doesn't look like a regular western style hotel room, but has all the basic components. No curtain in the shower, but this is quite standard in Thailand. It's a bit difficult to find, even for the local taxi drivers.

The hotel is a small converted residential school in the heart of the old city. It is spartan (ie. simple and without luxury) but it is a peaceful and cool oasis. The staff are all young and enthusiastic and it was as if we were the schoolmasters being looked after by the school prefects.

Don't expect too much - the hotel is really only 2 star - but one can have a very relaxing time. Of course, the internet was slow, and the breakfast was mediocre, but then again, for a seasoned traveller who does not expect to be waited on hand and foot, The Balcony Rooms are an excellent place from which not only to visit the typical tourist sites but also to explore the little side streets and get a flavour of the lives of the local people.

Room Tip: Try to avoid any room facing the midday sun
