“One More Beer, Please !”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Ashamed to say that this is my first visit to the restaurant despite having been to Bangkok for the 7th time.

Service was good although it was Xmas day and the restaurant was packed to the brim with patrons. Food came pretty fast too. Overall, food was delicious and went well with the beer especially the pork knuckle and fried fish with the hot, lemony like sauce.

Love the beer too. It was light and refreshing.

I only have one advice; be sure to book ahead otherwise you may be placed in one of the rooms or far away from the stage where the performance was held.

Performance was so so with a mixture of Western and Asian songs. But who cares if they singers can sing well when you are already high on the beer and food ?

The place is only 10-15 minutes away from places like Terminal 21, Siam Centre if no traffic jam. Plenty of cabs to take you back to your hotel after dinner.

“Go for the show, not the food.”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Tawandang German Brewery might evoke visions of buxom waitresses in blonde pigtails with six or eight massive steins of beer in each hand, serving happy guests who were singing along with an oompah band. The place is huge and the beer is great, but similarities to Munich's fabled Hoffbrauhaus end there.

Tawandang must be one of the largest restaurants in the world, with every table booked every night and more than 250 waiters and waitress on duty. While beer-drinkers will enjoy the house-made brew, this is not a place to go just for the food. The only menu item that has really stood out for me is the deep friend pork knuckle, which is crispy on the outside and succulent inside. That selection comes with creamy mashed potatoes and a scoop of extraordinary house-made sauerkraut.

What keeps guests coming back to Tawandang is the spectacular entertainment, which includes the best Dixieland jazz band I have ever heard in or outside of Dixie. The night's line-up usually also includes Thai pop singers, an Isan country-western band with luk tung singers, a classical Thai orchestra, Las Vegas-style spectacles and some of the most unbelievable acrobats you have ever seen. The show is so impressive that you will forget how mediocre the food and service were.

You can’t see the show at all if you are seated upstairs. Reservations are absolutely necessary and should be made well in advance. Ask to be seated on the ground floor, even if you have to tell them you are in a wheelchair. If you get there and find you are going to be stuffed into a corner or somewhere you cannot enjoy what is on the stage, find somewhere else to eat and try again another time.

“Don't go for the French Fries!!!!!!”
Reviewed January 13, 2013 via mobile

Go to Tawandang if you like great Thai food, great beer and good entertainment! I love the Thai fried fish with mango sauce, BBQ pork and the pork fried rice...all very delicious. I uploaded pictures. There are two locations so be aware of that...i always go to the one on Naratiwas and Rama III. You can take the BTS to Chongnonsi station and then walk to the BRT, you can take the really cool bus to Nara-Rama III station which is directly in front of Tawandang. Mostly Thai people go here or foriegners that have a Thai person going with them for a nice evening of food and entertainment. I live in Bangkok so I paid for the 15 percent discount card as I go here at least twice a month.

“Eisbein and Music”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

A great venue for German beer, salted pig knuckles and cabaret. This can be a real fun place with all the staff (and there are many) dancing and joining in with a merry crowd of mainly Thais but a fair mix of expats and a few tourists thrown in. I always take visitors for a night out here and they always have a great night out!

“slow service, cold food and no care”
Reviewed January 4, 2013 via mobile

contrary to other reviews our visit was a disaster. all food came quickly but french fries cold, we sent them back. and they came back colder than the first time. then after the second last dish arrived we waited for 1 and half hours for our last dish to arrive. despite complaining 4 times each time told coming coming. but never

entertainment is very good but the lack of overall care about the customer leaves a bad taste
