“Perfect location, highly recommend!”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

I we t to Thailand with my sister to visit a friend. We arrived Dec 27 and left on the 31st so it was busy season but the hotel never looked or felt crowded. Location was fantastic. Easy walk to the Skytrain. I read some reviews that there are hotel tuk tuks waiting for you at the Skytrain but we never saw any. The walk is short to the hotel. You pass many restaurants and pharmacies, coffee shops and sidewalk food carts and bars so its a great time to get your bearings. The hotel is towards the end of the street and stands out because of its modern exterior.

Once you walk in the lobby its clean and cool. If you've ever stayed at a W and liked it then you will feel the familiarity here. Our room was originally a Double Chic, but after reading one review that someone posted about getting a room with a view to the bldg next door, i upgraded for a mere $125US (for three nights, total!!) to a better room more high up and with a view. Glad i did, the view was fantastic!

Make sure regardless of what room you get, you ask for a room on the right side of the hotel (if you are facing the hotel as you walk in). The rooms on the left have a building next door so you see windows and wall. The rooms on the right face away from the busy street, we didnt hear any street noise (we were on the 25th floor).

The room was clean, colorful and modern. Even with the upgrade the room felt a little small but served the purpose for us. Bathroom had outlet for electric shaver, and took standard two prong US and UK. You need a voltage converter though. I brought a flat-iron that could adjust voltage but I still thought it would catch fire it was making weird noises. The shower is huge. No bath. There is small space for hanging items and drawers for clothes, and there is a safe. The A/C worked beautifully.

In the main space there are plenty of outlets for your tablets and smartphones. You can dock your phone and play music while charging. TV was a flatscreen TV but even though amenities on the description say DVD player, it did not have one. Apparently you have to rent it. "Mini bar" had beers and water. Why pay when you get free bottled water daily which is nice.

We never went to the pool or XYZ their lobby bar, so I cant comment on that, but we did go to their rooftop bar with "panoramic" views. Great wine selection and delicious cocktails, the outdoor patio was relaxing and cool on the hot day, but the view was not as stellar. They have DJs play here and while we never stuck around for the DJ, but we heard a faint "untz untz" each night, which did NOT go on all night but I'm not sure where it was coming from. And we were the farthest room down the hall which is the back before you hit the exit stairs. Could've been the hotel DJ, the street bar, a bar, another hotel.. Who knows. Didn't bother us. We did have a issue the first night - we heard guys next door yelling and talking loudly. We called the front desk and shortly after the noise died instantly. They even called us back to make sure it was still quiet! No problems since. The hotel had a lot of young couples, young groups - mostly college age. My sis and I are in our mid-30s and felt comfortable there. No kids to be seen anywhere.

We did a lot of day trips and tours that left early so know that the hotel has a place where you can buy snacks 24/7. The choices are limited but we couldn't go elsewhere that early in the AM, nothing was open until 7 or 8. Their "mocha" was coffee with Carnation powder mix, it was awful. They had sandwiches, wraps, pastries, coffees, teas, wine, beer for sale. Very very expensive but that is to be expected at a hotel. They had one person heating up the sandwiches and making coffee so sometimes the line got long and people were getting impatient. Just a heads up if you're catching a plane.

Plenty of transportation options once you set out for your day. There is an abundance of tuk tuks and taxis around. You are close to the Skytrain, the freeway, a highly rated hospital, spas, restaurants, pharmacies, bars all on this street alone!

The service staff was not exceptional, but they weren't bad either. They just don't go out of their way to greet you like the other hotels did on our trip. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Get a higher floor and a room on the right side of the hotel (if you are facing the hotel from the s...

This hotel was recommended by my working buddy. Though it was rated 4 stars but personally i gave it a 5 star.

Hotel was located at Sukhumvit Soi 11 (yes surrounding areas are pubs and bars and nightclubs) and its full of tourists. Its very easy to get there from Suvarnabhumi International airport. Take the air skyrail to Phaya thai and change to BTS and drop off at Nana BTS station. Out of BTS take the left exit and you will find Soi 11 on the left. walk in about 5-8 mins and you will reach the airport. Staff there are exceptionally polite and helpful. Easy to get around by asking them for help. We stayed at 25th floor and awesome view of the city. Hotel amenities are more than enough and what i love is the bolster (which most hotel do not have). Swimming pool is quite small (closed at 11.30pm) but the gym is opened 24hrs. There is a club at the hotel is makes it quite lively at night. 1 thing lacking is a bathtub but its not a problem for me. I did not take up the breakfast buffet as i am a late sleeper and i don't head to the spa. You could even refill up your ice bucket ( A ice bucket is provided in the room) at the coffee house @ main lobby.

You will find all sorts of bars (mobile bars), live band pubs and nightclubs buzzing out at night and making us forget that there is a protest going on nearby,

In fact, the protests are quite peaceful and i even went to 1 of the live protests near Lumphini Park and it was not even rowdy. And i'm sure you can visit Siam protest area in the morning as they are setting up stalls on the stretch of main road and lotsa foods and T-shirts can be brought there.

All in all i had 2 great nights at the hotel at an awesome location. I'm heading back in May (this time alone) and i am sure i will stay in this hotel again. Highly recommended, esp when you need a drink at night.

Room Tip: All the rooms are splendid. I believe you can try asking for higher floors (20th onwards) would have...

I picked this hotel after visit hotel website. Love the animation which allow you to see how the room look like. The allocation is great. A lot of activities and tourists near by. The check in/out is ok. People is helpful and friendly. However, the Hotel restaurant is closing during my visit. I will return again.

Dear 694gracef,

Thank you for your time to write this feedback. Please accept our sincere apology for all unsmooth experiences during your stay. We are quite surprised to read your comments actually because we always warmly welcome all guests, especially our SPG members. We have implemented the English and the service standard trainings continuously every month in the hotel to ensure that our talent will be able to communicate and service our guests well. We also have requested our engineering team to focus more on the water condition although they already have the daily maintenance program to check. We undoubtedly value your comments in all points, and we will do our best to solve all mentioned issues. We hope to have another chance to welcome you back again.

Great location, lots to shop and eat in the area. Sukhumvit is filled with tourists and amenities to service them. The BTS is very close and the area has lots of taxis available if you want to explore other parts of city.

Rooms are tight but comfortable. Everything is kept very clean per Starwoods normal standard.

Dear MariaPuraVida,

Thank you for this feedback to us. Aloft Bangkok - Sukhumvit 11 is surrounded by many good restaurants, bars and clubs as you experienced. We are not sure that you tried our free shuttle Tuk Tuk service from/to the hotel and the top street. It would provide more convenience to our guests. Don't miss it in the next time. :)

We hope to have another chance to welcome you and your friends again. Take care.

Stayed here for 2 nights back in January.

The check-in process is quite slow for 4 of us, as there were only 1 person manning the front-desk. I was the last one to get the room card, I guessed I waited more than 30 minutes. Fortunately there were sofas right opposite the front desk area so we can relax while the front desk people is doing their stuff.

The location is off the main street, have to turn into some kind of alley before we can find the hotel. However most taxi driver is familiar with the location, so there is no worries. As now there is a protest ongoing near the hotel, most of the taxi driver actually took this opportunity to increase the price as there will be traffic building up to avoid the protest area.

The room is a bit noisy from the noise below as I got a room only on the 15th floor. The night life around that area is very lively. Music blasting away late into the night, even after 12 midnight. The design is same like normal Aloft rooms. Functional, with basic amenities given, and iron/ironing board and also hair dryer. 2 bottles of water given daily, which is little. But the Aloft concept is to buy more from the 24 hour re-fuel stall at the lobby if you need more. The bed is a bit on a hard side. And the alarm clock which comes with the iPhone charger, could not charge my phone, for some unknown reason.

During the morning rush to work, to get a taxi is tricky as most of them will request for a flat rate as the protest is on-going. And most of the taxi queuing outside is likely to be part of the same gang, charging us 400 baht to travel to a place which can reach around 250 baht with meter. If you do not take their service, they will ensure you can't take other service because they will tell all other taxi drivers in Thai not to use the meter for us. We had to walk further to get a real taxi that uses meter.

We wanted to take the complimentary tuk tuk to Na-na BTS station (which is the nearest to the hotel) but the complimentary tuk-tuk is already out and won't be back until 30 min later. Guess it is bad luck for us.

Room Tip: High floors to escape from the noise below.

Dear Kons168,

First of all, we would like to thank you for all constructive detailed feedback. We are much appreciated that. It is very useful information to improve our service based on your comments. We feel terribly sorry for entire inconvenience occurring during your stay. Normally, our check-in time would not take long time. We are investigating this point with the team now. We will definitely pass your valuable comments to our top management team to find the best possible solutions for all concerned areas, especially the operating hours of Tuk Tuk. Actually, we do provide two Tuk Tuks to service our guests to/from Nana sky train station, Sukhumvit subway station and Terminal. Traffic in Bangkok is pretty bad, so that was the reason why it took half an hour to come back to the hotel. It is, however, a certain period of time.

Our Engineering team has the regular maintenance schedule to check all equipments in the guestrooms and public areas to ensure that they are useable well. We always have the record about the maintenance. Please accept our apology for this missing part of the iPad docking station. We would accept that the taxi issue is one of our most challenging areas. As you are aware, we cannot control taxi drivers although we have tried to assist our guests. We are still working on the solution.

Please be assured that we will do our best to deliver the high service standard to our guests. We hope you could grant us another chance to warmly welcome you again in this hotel. At the meantime, take care.
