We stayed here first in August and liked it so much we changed all our flights so that we could return and spend more time exploring Bangkok and staying in such a lovely place. Unfortunately, we both got bad chest infections on the flight over and were very ill, particularly my husband. Well, what wonderful people. By day two at the Lilac the owner/manager, Oi, took us under her wing and to the world class hospital (Samitivej Srinakarin) where she guided us to the right, very professional, English speaking doctor. The care was excellent, the medications effective and all for under $US85.00. She then took us to a supermarket to get supplies. We were not well enough to leave the hotel but were cared for all the time for five days, with the staff bringing us chilled fruit and light evening meals until we felt able to go home. We left four days early and Oi wanted to refund our prepaid bill. Needless to say we were not going renege on a contract. As we refused to take any money back, Oi refused to charge us for all the food they had bought us and our laundry bill. What hotel in the world would be so wonderful?
